hells - no wine for me now. It's past 8.30pm!

I did not realise the WIT had the dress too although I did see a blouse version in polka dot. I am lacking in the chest area so can't advise on hers!

I made £200 on Quidco in 2009, keep forgetting to go through it for online shopping.

Has there been a decision on the W&A birthday treat as yet?

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 09/01/2011 21:04

But how can a stylist get it so wrong! Have tried to explain to DH about this but he doesn't understand. Thank goodness for W&A Grin

PlumSykes · 09/01/2011 21:06

Choo, I have no inside-info on Smart Lipo, but my opinion, for what it's worth, is that it works well for some, and not at all for others, which is quite a risk for a cost of £2-3000. Plus, you have to wait 3 months to see results, which would be too long for me. I get the feeling it is good on smaller areas-upper arms, jowls, knees-but not so effective on larger areas like tummy/thighs etc.

To clarify, I'm not against surgery at all (in fact, have got as far as consultation for boob lift) but I suspect that when something seems ot good to be true, esp. in teh beauty arena, it usually is.

You could have a lot of personal training sessions in 3 months for £3000.

pickledsiblings · 09/01/2011 21:18

ABO, I bought this this jumper dress in Oasis on Friday. It is very flattering and would show your figure off well. It is however a lot thinner than the Boden one.

mrsjuan · 09/01/2011 21:18

Here I am DT! Was it the lace up M&S boots that you tried on? Admired them again on my friend yesterday as we went to visit for the weekend.
She took me to a whistles outlet and I tried on a gorgeous teal dress (can't find it to link). They only had an 8 though unfortunately and as usual fitted everywhere except the ribcage Grin even friend commented that she thinks I need a rib removed a la pamela anderson.

Fab work on the hotel NY. Suppose I'd better mention it to DH. I know he will just take the piss though - he is rather scornful of my imaginary friends although he appreciates your work on my wardrobe!

Everything - sorry you're still feeling ill and that DH is being a pain. I'm sure this time next year it will all be a distant memory and you will be back on form soon.

Fritzi and NY - sounds like you had lovely weekends.

Cake - how exciting about the move - can't belive you're going to be movong twice in a year though - the phrase glutton for punishment springs to mind.

DD gave me such a fright earlier - she managed to get a wooden block from a stacking toy wedged in her mouth behind her teeth- a few seconds of hysterical crying from her, heart pounding horrible visions from me and I managed to prise her mouth open and retrieve it. Phew.

Esher & OWW -sorry that your children have also been giving you grey hairs Grin Hope they are on the mend soon.

macmama · 09/01/2011 21:25

sorry esher and anyone else I may have offended. I was being a twat clearly! Not that out of character for me.

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 21:30

esher I am here for another month - can we do a day with the dc one weekend even? Am sure dh would love to see you (as would I of course) - we can go to said museum and then back here for lunch? Realise Mon-Fri prob no-go as your dd1 is at school, no?

bunny hurry up with the feeding!!

NY well done on all your hard wrk, knew you were the woman for the job!

DT beautiful things as befits gorgeous you. Hope ds had a lovely time.

OWW I'm not great on soup as my dc are a bit annoying in terms of liking 'separate' food (meat/ fish and 3 veg- pain as I am fan of one-pot cooking) but I generally do the roast chicken carcass/ soup thing and then bung a load of veg and rice/ pasta in.

Otherwise I always have a few tomato sauces in the freezer - ie tinned toms cooked with all the beg that are on the turn Grin and then blitzed with the food processor - used as base to 'baked beans' ie cannellini beans simmered in said sauce or spag bol or chicken-y pasta sauce

bunnymother · 09/01/2011 21:31

What a day! Been wanting to post all afternoon but been busy w DDs. After Lia threw up all over me (dear me), I decided would be easier to just take DD1 w to Westfield, else could get stuck in the family rooms feeding, changing blah blah blah.

Anyone else found their child became Seriously Good Company at 18 months' of age? Am so enjoying my time w DD1 -she is charming.

Re SAHM/WOHM debate, you will all want me to Shut Up, but I enjoyed reading what everyone had to say and didn't think we were disagreeing as such (IF that's what debating implies...), just voicing opinions based on our own different experiences. I find it really interesting and inspiring hearing how everyone has found their own particular way. And don't worry Mac, I know you are just sharing your experience and I hear you on wishing there were more women like you in your firm. One of the things I miss about my former life is the brilliant, lovely women I worked with. If I had stayed and seen them drop away I would have felt quite saddened. I am currently SAHM but its not something that I will do for more than the next few years - best for the entire family if I go back to work. We will need the ££ for the school fees (will have to go private in secondary school) as well as general household costs. And I need to do something for me soon, from an emotional and mental health perspective. I want to devote myself to my children now, but want to scale back when they are a few years old.

And Mac, one more thing, there was an article in The Times reporting that a study had been conducted on the happiness of children. When asked about what they wanted from their parents, they didn't ask for more time with them. Just that their parents were interested, involved and happy when they spent time with them. And you certainly sound to be all those things.

Looby - you are absolutely right, it was ignorant / insulting to others to say that a MC lawyer's salary isn't that great on a per hour basis. They still take home far more than many, regardless of the hours worked. My perspective can get skewed and good to get a friendly reminder.

Ooh - read and felt upset that you decided to leave, then pleased you changed your mind! Smile I really like the jacket you linked to. And I found myself nodding at your law post and also thinking v brave and self aware to be so v candid.

Esher - been meaning to say, I remember you posting that you weren't that good looking, but just liked clothes and make up. You are missing something - like MM, you have a real spark about you, that makes you appealing beyond conventional good looks (which you have, but they aren't as interesting as a "spark" IMO). Also, you have my heartfelt sympathies on the fussy eating front. Have almost bitten my tongue through not saying anything while DD1 flings food off her highchair that only the day previously she ate w relish. This week's phase is eating only the food off DH's plate. Better him than me, better him than me.

Carciofi and Cakey - yes, next Tuesday at 11:30am sounds great - so looking forward! Carciofi - what a lovely smiley face you have - bet strangers are nice to you w a face like that. And how cute of your DD to be in your gorgeous red shoes! Cakey - evening, my lovely. Bugger, I forgot to look in Dune for the studded shoe boots. Fingers crossed they have a pair for me when we meet up.

notyummy - oh dear, yes, good point about me not needing accommodation. Have come up w an excuse - sleep deprivation turning me into an idiot.

BTW Wonder Nanny rang - she is coming to work tomorrow - the crowd, they roar!

Marsha - ha ha, how cool that you have ordered those shoes - they look fun.

God, another essay from me - sorry!!

bunnymother · 09/01/2011 21:32

Ouch - that post was way tooo long - and to think I like Hemingway for his spare writing. I could learn a thing or two from him.

eshermummy · 09/01/2011 21:33

Not a twat at all Mac - I think you just read too much into my comment but it's a chat forum on the internet so it is easily done!
No harm done Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 09/01/2011 21:33

carciofi Your DD is so cute and you look lovely too!

cake When are you moving? Better not let DH near your shoes or clothes while decluttering Wink.

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 21:35

all the veg, I mean!!

macmama · 09/01/2011 21:35

Bunny I could marry you for your kind words. YOu really are a true darling what a lucky man your husband is and what lucky girls your DDs are to have you for a mum.

OP posts:
macmama · 09/01/2011 21:37

Have missed so much, I don't know where to begin. In potty- training by day, shredding by night he'll. But seeing a difference on both fronts. Yay.

More importantly, have you seen this? Where Cake's lovely blouse meets the grey leopard scarf. Wonderful, hey?

DolceeBanana · 09/01/2011 21:38

hello ladies...gosh you lot have been very busy!

Busy weekend...well, nice day with MIL and DD1s Godmother in Broadway (they have the most fabulous Oka there), then dull day of chores today! Hmph....

Glad house moving well Tracey...fingers crossed for you.

Ooh Cake - wonder where you will be moving...? Guess near Oxford or Marlborough?

Have just boght some lovely dark oxblood Tods flats...very nice on. Looked great with slim straight black cords today.

Yes, can't wait to stuff the duvet coat away either Hells...

FritziGreenEyes · 09/01/2011 21:41

bunny Glad that wondernanny has made a recovery. You really deserved to have a great time with DD1 at Westfield.

Forgot to say: We finally bought a bed yesterday. 6-8 weeks delivery time but at least we made a decision. Will need your advice on where to get lovely bedlinen etc once it is here!

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 21:42

one last one from me on the debate front - simply that I too hope that my words will simply be taken as my mother-lion tendency to protect my friends (even if imaginary friends from imaginary slights!!)

Smile

(those RS shoes more reduced than when I tried them on - hmmmm.... )

hellsbelles · 09/01/2011 21:42

I'm being forced to watch Zen (while DH bobs up in front of the screen from time to time so I have to say 'yes yes you are so like Rufus Grin'.

I do love the silk shirt/pencil skirt combo the lead actress wears (and I know it's a look that works with my body shape). I'm trying to think how I can fit that it into my life. I may have to sort out some more meetings.

macmama · 09/01/2011 21:43

OWW a classic leek and potato soup made with bacon (for extra saltiness) and blended until creamy so that no "bits" can be identified.

I make a lot of soup mainly vege tend to use fresh chicken stock and bacon for extra favour and protein. Usually I use lentils and/or barley to pack it out together with whatever I have to hand (carrots, onions, garlic, leeks, celery, pumpkin for sweetness). Cumin is a good spice to add when using pumpkin. If you blend enough then they won't be able to identify separate things inside?

OP posts:
eshermummy · 09/01/2011 21:43

LTEC yes dd1 in school fulltime so either I just do a weekday with dd2 or en famille at the weekend. Would love to hook up with your brood - would be quite funny for my imaginary husband to meet your imaginary husband!

hi Bunny, you are too kind. although I think possibly the spark you are refrring to is my inability to shut up!

NY am v excited about meet-up now Smile although a bit Shock that some of you have sourced outfits/chosen shoes etc. Feel a bit sweaty/shakey just thinking about it - I've done it twice before but somehow this seems like it will be The Mother Of All Meet-Ups Grin

hellsbelles · 09/01/2011 21:45

Esher - I missed that comment you made about your looks (naughty and untrue)...so true what Bunny says.

DolceeBanana · 09/01/2011 21:46

Oh Hells - re Zen...I hate the fact that they are speaking english with english accents...apart from the lead actress. Sooooo annoying...and don't you think Rufus Sewell has a rather wimpy voice...?

DTI10 · 09/01/2011 21:47

mrsjuan - yes the M&S boots. I liked them a lot but as the sizes go up they looked and felt clumpy on me. I had to put them back. My sister has now got them in a size 5 and loves them so thank you for the link. Holding out for my 42 bling boots this week.

Did I miss something on esher? I have met you and am really shocked that you do not think you are "good looking". I compared you to KK to my DH - stunning!

ReineDeSaba · 09/01/2011 21:47
