Come join me!
Not so inspired but I do so hate being threadless.

Hello. I enjoyed lurking on your last thread. May I delurk and join in?

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2010 20:55

am out of loop on wedding - did he give her Diana's ring?

Feeling old that I remember C&D wedding, birth of W .. and now he's getting married. Ouch.

rufus we have missed you!! re places to eat are you with dc or not? we like Jamie's Italian with the dc - a few of them dotted around.

I have a near-commando story to share. Back in the days when we had motorbike and were going to wedding at um, can't remember but think Rocky Horror or St Trinian's or something was filmed there. Outfit - clingy satin skirt in a sort of pinky flesh colur (WHY!!??) with beaded hemline. Oh dear oh dear. Anyway, req'd invisible undies, which were in wash. So I handwashed them, tied them to rucksack and set off down motorway. Arrived at wedding place, went to get changed in room .. knickers had gone. Have had images of them splatting on unsuspecting driver's windscreen for years. Could have gone commando, opted to go G-banger and VPL.

The shame!

traceybath · 16/11/2010 20:58

Hi 40denier Smile

Thanks Hells - think it will be lots of steak and fish then - not a cheap diet is it Grin

LTEC - yes he has given her Diana's ring as a way of involving her. Must confess having watched them on the news I do think they seem very sweet together and yes I too remember watching C&D's wedding . . .

DH still in London and dc's all asleep - do love the peace and quiet when I'm on my own.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/11/2010 21:00

Hi rufus. Good to have you back! Have a fab weekend in London. Looking forward to report about new haircut. Lovely note from your DD's teacher. The toys website is great. Will have a look if I can find anything for DD. Notyummy is my role model for Christmas organisation. Plan to have all presents wrapped by the end of November. Have also added pressure of preparing Christmas calendar for DD. You wrap 24 tiny little stocking filler type things in individual parcels and label them with numbers. DD gets to open one each day until Christmas. I also do a calendar with DD for DH too (but only different sorts of chocolates and sometimes a message on a slip of paper). We send it with him to the office to cheer him up in the hectic run-up to Christmas.

cake Dress from ebay looks great. Did you get the Halstonlike one shoulder dress too?

OllieWollieWoo · 16/11/2010 21:01

Just read up on the whole royal engagement thing - her waist looks teeny tiny in these pics here - She would look fab in a Janice tho eh?! Not sure about the ring either - nice gesture on his part but I would be thinking Hmm if I had received it.

Plum - meant to say that how pleased I was re your trip to HV. DS2 is very small - esp compared to DS1 - he is 4 next Spring and still wearing aged 2 to 3 jeans and is noticeably smaller than other kids at pre school. Will have another check up around his b-day and I know they will bang on about growth charts etc but will drag DH along to vend off all the comments! Dutch growth charts are off the scale anyway and someone has to be at the bottom!

OllieWollieWoo · 16/11/2010 21:04

My sister was outside St Pauls with her girl guide group when C&D got married! Mum sat in the lounge watching TV from morning til night - Dad had to take care of my twin and I! And I clearly remember the village school caretaker coming into the classroom to announce that William had been born! God I'm old.

Funny re her wanting to now be known as Catherine.

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2010 21:08

Hi Fritzi! yes I got the one-shoulder Halstonesque number as well. Not arrived yet so fingers x'd.

carciofi how are you feeling?

tracey it is deffo expensive diet. More so as you will want to buy loads of clothes when it's done Wink

I have to admit that I am so looking forward to being thin thin for the festive season. When I tried on that HH dress yesterday another customer was saying to me, Oh I love that dress, but of course, you're so thin, it looks great. Sounds terrible, but that is my idea of a compliment Blush

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2010 21:10

My sis had just been born when C&D got married. Mum big Royalist, but only B&W TV in hosp. Her birthing present from dad was colour telly, which we took when we visited on the day of the wedding Grin

CHOOGIRL · 16/11/2010 21:14

Found you.

Unusually excited about the wedding. Fond memories of street parties, etc for C&D.

I've never been married, but would feel a bit Hmm if I were given a used engagement ring - especially one that doesn't have particularly happy memories. Kate looked lovely, and reminded me I have a BNWT Issa dress in my wardrobe. Should I sell?

Esher My Cake shoeboots are true to size and at the moment I think I may need to have them surgically removed - so lovely are they I have removed my trademark work Louboutins.

Janice arrived today - not tried on yet, but think it is a keeper.

Have spent so much on my credit card that I have accumulated lots of Harvey Nicks rewards - may go and re-buy the Bec dress for dinner at Savoy Grill in a couple of weeks.

Right - off to catch up on thread

rufus101 · 16/11/2010 21:20

LOL Cake at the tv. Id have preferred something sparkly myself, and I'm talking blinging here! I'd be personally very uncomfortable with Diana's ring, given her tragic end and life, but he obviously sees it as a very significant gesture. As I'm 41, I remember the wedding very well, and the birth, so I feel positively ancient. Hope he's happier than his dad was.

We're are sans enfants for the weekend in London Cake, so ridiculously excited. Still haven't booked hotel, but it will be central anyway. Waiting for DH to come home tonight to book it.

Love the idea of the calendar Fritzi to cheer DH up. Very sweet.

My DS1 OWW is on the 25th centile, and is tiny compared to boys (and girls) his age. DS2 on the other hand is on the 91st centile, and is almost the same size as him. (2and1/2 years to his older brother's 5!) People are always commenting on it. I keep telling DS1 that "you're big in there (pointing at his heart) , where it counts", when he says "all the others are bigger than me".

AllBuggiedOut · 16/11/2010 21:21

Thanks for the further blanket suggestions. I am going to go RL shopping on Saturday (Marylebone & Oxford Street I think) so will look then. Need to do some stroking now I think!

Thanks for the tights like notyummy. They look great; am going to see if they exist in dark brown.

traceybath · 16/11/2010 21:22

Oh Rufus thats such a lovely thing to say Smile

I too remember William's birth and their trip to Australia as it was shocking at the time that the whole family were flying together.

LTEC you are uber-slim and gorgeous and would look good in the proverbial bin bag Smile

OllieWollieWoo · 16/11/2010 21:26

Bloss - pressie for DH perhaps? Smile
here

Choo - reckon Issa dresses will be very popular - DM has a whole article on how much KM likes them.

OllieWollieWoo · 16/11/2010 21:30

Rufus - what a wonderful thing to say - felt quite choked reading it! I will store in memory and use. DS2 not really aware of being so small at the moment but sure he will be once he starts school in March - he makes up for lack of height with a very funny personality and general cheekiness! DH reckons he was small till puberty and then shot up to 6 foot 3 - he has all sorts of stretch marks on his back from a period where he grew something like 8 cm in 6 months!

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2010 21:34

sorry 40denier I missed you. Yes, please delurk!!

Come in, tell us all about yourself ... Wink

rufus that's gorgeous. Well, sans enfants, um, am outof practice for central london but have had many a good night at Oxo Tower, also at a Southbank cocktail bar called Skylon (espresso cocktail to die for). Also used to love Smiths in Smithfield but have only done brunch of late .. have heard good things about St John's in Farringdon, esp if you are carnivorous.

Went to fab bar last week here - cocktails in empty jars and tea cups, chintzy wallpaper, great music. loads of fun.

And Jamies is good reasonably-priced food so worth a look, there's one in Covent Garden.

Choo is our resident gal about town so hopefully she will be along with some good suggestions soon

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2010 21:35

aw, thanks tracey

That's my festive dressing dilemmas sorted then!! Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 16/11/2010 21:36

No sign of the Kew boots btw - friends DH 'may' go pick them up tomorrow (PO 5 mins away) but can't promise anything as he still has house jobs to do - I'm saying nothing but thinking plenty!

On a different note - Sing A Long A Sound of Music is coming to Holland next Spring and I'm arranging tickets for our Book Club! Yey! Will not dress up as a nun but may run up a dress out of old curtains a la Julie!

mrsjuan · 16/11/2010 21:37

What a lovely thing for her to say Rufus - you must feel very proud. And thank you for farm suggestions. DD is still only 18 months so not quite ready for playmobil (much as I'd love to play with it). In fact I think she'd be perfectly happy with just the animals and some cardboard boxes so farm hunt isn't urgent. Happy to wait until the perfect one presents itself.

Am slightly Blush to admit that I was born the same year that C&D got married - some of my baby photos are in a C&D photo album!

Cake - pleased for you that you've reached your skinny goal . Wish I had your willpower

Fritzi - what a fantastic wife you are to do an advent calendar like that for your DH. I bet he loves it.

Talking of advent calendars - is it possible to get 'normal' ones any more in which you just open the door and get a nice picture rather than a piece of cheap chocolate? Am sure I will eventually succumb to the pressure to buy such tat but for now I'd like to avoid it. May start a separate thread to stop diverting away from clothes.

Zembo - Have you been celebrating Eid today? Hope you've enjoyed it if so.

Icanboogie · 16/11/2010 21:40

Delurking again for advice on Janice. Would these shoeboots go

I am after something that is comfy - as its an all day family mil 60th party. That looks smart but I could wear again. Have a wardrobe full of 1-wear shoes from weddings, parties and events - want to escape this cycle and become wiser...

Also, if black should I wear nude, black opaques or what. Tights that is Wink

BTW I got this to wear with mine lovely tactile shrug

Icanboogie · 16/11/2010 21:41

scrap that - no 7s in them either...

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2010 21:43

MrsJ sorry to mislead, I am not skinny. Yet. Bit to go. 7lb or so.

nicer advent calendars here. Try Laura Ashley and NOTHS too

Fritzi that is just divine, You are beyond lovely.

MarshaBrady · 16/11/2010 21:48

The royal wedding yes quite good. I haven't seen anything yet really.

Oh for compliments yes we're terrible in our family, we know it and laugh about it. First things first, you look good. And yes it would look ace on you is good. But my favourite one is too Blush to admit it is so looks based and pleasing.

Quickly segues. Speaking of models, Roman how was work today. any big decisions?

And again, speaking of work Fritzi how is it going without your boss"?

Ds is up due to long naps!

Hello everyone, welcome 40 denier. fritzi vie always wanted to do an advent calendar like that but never got round to it. Perhaps this will be the year. Sounds lovely.

Uber successful day at work today. Made formal proposal to work 8-4 e basta! And everyone agreed and said they'd help! Feeling all warm and fuzzy Smile.

Bought a massive Lego thing called Lego city, a wormery (!), and a puzzle for ds2. I think he'll be pleased.

I wouldn't have wanted the ring either. Does she really want to be catherine? I really like the name Kate.
