hi wise and avid ladies

could you please pop over here when you have a moment and advise me on shoes/bag/tights for a dinner dance?

carciofi · 03/11/2010 07:56

WhatsWrongWithYou, the outfit sounds nice, give it a go.

LTEC, you have a fab figure!

Blossoming, I like the sound of the Eiffel tower washbag, can I buy one from you?

I think I'll drag DD to Westfield today, I'd like some new make-up and a couple of tops, and want to look at shoes for my brother's wedding.

blossoming · 03/11/2010 08:11

Very jealous of your proposed day carciofi.
I'll post photos of Eiffel tower bags when the cord arrives. The one I had ordered was too bulky! Mates rates!!

carciofi · 03/11/2010 08:14

Thanks Bloss.
Westfield sounds good but DD will be shouting after 15 mins.

notyummy · 03/11/2010 08:39

Morning all!

Determined to be more positive today after yesterday's rather whiney post. Yes, I have a sore hip - but I can still do most things (including the majority of the exercise I wish to. It is curtailing longer runs, and I find that frustrating.) Thanks for those offering sympathy, but I felt a bit of a fraud when I heard about others SPD (which I never got) which sounds worse than my allegedly sore hip - thinking of you Bunny! As for spots - well, really, it is just vanity (as my DH helpfully pointed out...). I will chat to the pharmacist this weekend.

Blossoming - I am liking the sound of these bags. I hope there are similar creative types who have wares to sell at the school Christmas fete and I will invest.

LTEC - I like that dress - was looking at it in the Style supplement - but if you you are not 100% then yes, be wise and return! I do like the idea of lace dresses though. I was looking at the A-Wear supplement that came with ths weeks Grazia (no time to read the actual magazine as yet!) and there was a few nice lace things in there.

MM - Hope you enjoyed your well deserved night out. Your outfit sounded great.

Fritzi - What a pleb your visitor sounds... 'I've already eaten at McDonalds.' Tsk...don't waste the prosecco on her - raid the bottles of wine that people give you and you never want to drink. With her taste buds anything else would be a waste.

Whatswrongwithyou - I do like the dress; think it is pretty and I like the cut. But I have to say in that picture it does look fairly summery. Having said that as you already have it then why not try styling it with various things like you have suggested - it may work. As you already own it then this is easier than trying to decide whether to buy it new! The lace itself reminds me of my wedding dress - which wasn't short - but was chantilly lace.

In the spirit of being less gloomy, I tried to wear a slightly more stylish outfit today. New Gap curvy trousers (which, as Everything found are a slightly odd size, so the 12 is too big for me....but I am wearing them anyway.) Also aquamarine batwing sweater and wedge boots.

Hope you all have good days.

hellsbelles · 03/11/2010 09:30

NY - aquamarine sure to do the trick Smile

Carcifio - won't the roads be a nightmare on the way to westfield? It's tube strike today and everything was very hectic this morning.

I suspect you will all hate this but it fits me well (yes I know it's exxx for a jumper dress but I find it difficult to get ones that work for my shape). Bloss I know the colour is all wrong for Winter but I like a bit of sludge Grin. Wearing with huge black scarf, black coat, black wooly tights, black pirate boots and I think looks ok. At least detracts from my horrendous face. No sleep last night. I was kept awake by teh wind. WTF...I am 39 for goodness sake but I kept thinking someone was breaking in as the windows and doors rattled incessantly. Urghh. Finally nodded off at 4am.

PlumSykes · 03/11/2010 09:30

Oh Bloss, could I persuade you to get some of these labels to put on your creations. When DD was wee, I made some clothes for her and her little buddy, and had some made up, they were so pretty. Soon lost interest in that though...

PlumSykes · 03/11/2010 09:33

Also, am doing double stripe today. Navy and cream breton, with Boden Boyfriend cardi in red and ecru stripe. Looks surprisingly chic.

Fresh from yesterday's furniture buying success, am off to an auction this morning, to try and get DD a new chest of drawers.

hellsbelles · 03/11/2010 09:33

LTEC - missed the pic so can't comment. What did you decide to do in the end?

fel1x · 03/11/2010 09:49

Morning!

Am here for my weekly catch up!

Bloss - The eiffel tower wash bags sound fab. Looking forward to seeing a pic of them!

Bunny -Hope you are not suffering too badly with SPD. I never had it, but my friend did and it looked terribly painful. loved the pic of your bum, beautiful!

Notyummy - sorry to hear about your sore hip, I know how keen you are on running so it must be a real pain!

Plum - love the sound of double stripes!

DS2 and I are off swimming this morning, then hopefully a relaxing afternoon.

Hope you all have a good day

Oh and am after a pair of Ugg Kensingtons for my birthday (the biker ones). Does anayone have them? Would you recommend??

blossoming · 03/11/2010 10:07

Right, have posted photos of Eiffel tower washbags. I am going to sell them for £5.00, and £7.50 to include a handmde soap and face flannel. Cheap to you London girls, but people round here don't want to spend too much and I do want to sell them. (I hope..)

hells, I'm sure you look great!

plum, thanks for the link. Will have a longer look at it now.

notyummy, glad you're feeling more positive.

Hi felix, welcome back!

dexter73 · 03/11/2010 10:08

The bags are great. I think the price is spot on.

monkeysmama · 03/11/2010 10:11

I missed out on Bunny sharing photos of her bum or was that just with you Fel1x Wink.

Am suffering today. We came home after concert and started to rearrange our living room Hmm while iPod djing for each other and reminiscing about our old skool clubbing days. We know how to live. I finally got a cab to mum's around 4am. Up at 5:45 with dd.

monkeysmama · 03/11/2010 10:12

I love that dress Hells.

hellsbelles · 03/11/2010 10:14

bloss - they are gorgeous. Indeed it is a very good price.

Hello Felix,

plum enjoy the auction.

WhatsWrongWithYou - pretty dress but I am guessing it is a little summery for now? Then again I wear sludge wool dresses so maybe not worth listening to me Wink

monkeysmama · 03/11/2010 10:14

Lovely Bloss. Can I buy one?

hellsbelles · 03/11/2010 10:16

Grin at MM - I think Felix meant bump. I can't stop laughing now at the thought of our beautiful, graceful Bunny posting pictures of her bum

your night sounds fab (furniture rearranging and all!)...shame DD decided it was business as usual...they seem to know when you've had a late night don't they!

hellsbelles · 03/11/2010 10:17

I want one too actually! Will you post links so we can buy them?

PlumSykes · 03/11/2010 10:17

Bloss, it is beautiful! Gorgeous fabric. Seems very cheap, but I totally get what you mean about 'local folk' not wanting to pay. My mum made some amazingly lovely bunting this summer for a church fundraiser, and people refused to pay £8 for it. For 3 metres! I felt very sad for her, and all her hours of work. I think people want Made in Britain gear for Made In China prices.

blossoming · 03/11/2010 10:18

Thank you Grin.

monkeysmama, what a wonderful time you must have had. Reality seriously painful this morning I'm sure! Never mind though!

Yes definitely will sell to you lovely ladies, of course. Soon, when I've made more of them and the cord has come too. Also would you want the flannel/soap option. PM your address, and I'll message back with email so you can paypal. How does that sound?

plum, your poor mum. My sis suggested bunting too, but it's a lot of work for the return I think. And yes, fabric is expensive here.

Not keen on WIT today. It's the trousers. And the gloves. Love the bag though. My mum wears those kind of trousers, pleated and too short, but not in any kind of 'fashion' way.

blossoming · 03/11/2010 10:33

Hi yangy. Love the jumper. Not sure about suedette. Dress is nice.

Right, time to do something constructive...

hellsbelles · 03/11/2010 10:35

love the dress too. I'm sure I recall someone on here has ordered from them so will know about sizing.

Agree on wit - though I love the yeti gillet.

Bloss - can you remind me of your initials on FB?
