..........and style me for a funtion this weekend

Its a charity dinner dance held in a not very grand suburban hotel. Apparently people get very dressed up for it - lots of long dresses, fake tans and nails Shock( We don't get out much up here Grin)

I have two black cocktail dresses

tafetta dress very similar to this except the bodice fits me like a glove and shows off norks [preens]. Model is too skinny Wink

lace dress except mine has scooped neck and is all lace ( no panels) and lined in nude fabric

Shoe and bag options are on my profile. I don't really do functions so choice is limited I'm afraid. I don't own any high or strappy heels as I cant walk in them, let alone dance Blush

I have the usual selection of tights - opaque, lace, fishnets etc

I can't see the tafetta dress from your link. I love your purple peep toe shoes! The lace dress is very nice but would it be dressy enough?

sorry link isnt working for you, dont knwo why

its an american store called nordstrom so nothing dodgy Grin

its a knee length black taffeta dress with a full skirt embellished with taffeta roses

fitted bodice of pleated jersey with v neck and tiny capped sleeves

beading on waist

its a very good fit on me - skims over fat tummy and emphasises my cleavage ( if you've got it, flaunt itWink)

IKWYM, I am not very good at dressy Blush

Taffeta one definitely - I am not a fan of lace-with-nude-lining.

In fact what are you asking? 'I have a dress that makes me look fab' - are you just trying to make us envious? Grin

so if i go for taffeta, please choose my shoes, bag and tights Smile

I have found the tafetta one - it is gorgeous! I would wear the purple peep toes and the silver clutch.

If you've got good legs -no tights.

The taffeta dress is gorgeous. Black heels and agree with HF, no tights.

Mmm, love the dress, and adore your kitchen!!

I wear nude hold ups (ducks before carciofi and hf shoot me) with lace tops from pretty polly. But it's colder up here!

I like the black patent shoes and the silver clutch.

Yes - love your kitchen - where did you get it from?

But onto clothes - well I like the lace dress but am having a bit of a lace moment.

Further north? Then I'd get the thermals out!!

Report
KristinaM · 05/11/2010 14:48

well the lace dress has sleeves so i coudl wear my thermal vest underneath Grin

but then I still woudln't know what bag and shoes to wear Hmm

i am very glad that lace is on trend this a/w. i have to confess the dress has been hanging at the back of the wardrobe for four years, as its actually a maternity dress that i last wore when pg with Ds2 Blush. Every so often i think " oh i must give that away / Ebay it"

but none of my friends have been very pg in the winter and its defo a Christmas dress. so now lace is back in i had it altered. Trying to be more wise than avid, despite only being a lurker Wink
