OP posts:
bunnymother · 10/09/2010 08:49

Happy Eid Zembo!

monkeysmama · 10/09/2010 09:05

Eid Mubarek Zembo! it's great round here (am
at mum's) - the schools are all shut for Eid and there are already lots of beautifully dressed people walking round looking happy.

Zembo · 10/09/2010 09:07

Thank you for your Eid greetings Smile. It's always so lovely to celebrate after a month of fasting. Feels strange to be eating in the day. We're all getting dressed for the day. Everyone has new clothes - DC looking lovely, my turn to sort myself out now. Hopefully back later to catch up properly at last. All wearing asian clothes.
Have a fab friday everyone.

Zembo · 10/09/2010 09:09

MM yes, my DD is off school after only starting yesterday Blush - never mind can't imagine she'll miss much on her second reception day. Also absolutely thrilled for you re: your dad. Hope you'll be having your own celebration.

traceybath · 10/09/2010 10:34

Happy Eid Zembo - hope you all have a lovely day Smile

OllieWollieWoo · 10/09/2010 10:42

Ooo - Eva Longoria is wearing the same top from Zara (or a more expensive copy!) that I have!
here Should I be pleased or worried cos I am taller, bigger and have totally different colouring to her? Wink

monkeysmama · 10/09/2010 10:53

I have that too Ollie!

traceybath · 10/09/2010 10:54

OWW - think we're similar colouring and I wear a lot of khaki as think it suits me.

roary · 10/09/2010 10:55

Hello all
Once again if you blink on this thread, you miss it!!

Zembo more Happy Eid and happy eating from me. Great news about MMs dad. Glad all your big dcs are settling at school. Love Tracey's barbour and Bunjies Banana dress - Bunjies, did it fit? I love Banana work clothes. Gorgeous.

Bloss did you see my earlier link to the Hobbs leather jacket? I visited it in the shop, it is GORGEOUS. Beautiful buttery leather, even nicer than the Boden leather, and not so cropped. here] second row, far left. Hendley jacket. Also, Bloss, navy shirts at Banana Repub [[http://bananarepublic.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=51166&vid=1&pid=100002412 here. American women do good dress shirts.

Carciofi I think I love you. Have been drooling over the LIly Red Leopard and you have decided me :)

I wore this this white company dress yesterday. What a fabulous bit of clothing. Soft, feminine, gorgeous. DH adored it and he never notices my clothes. Also perfect for breastfeeding. Bunny and Libra and other expectant mummies take note.

I have bought these biker boots from Hobbs. Fritzi had reservations but it is so rare to find boots narrow enough in the feet and I do like them. Am not 100% about keeping them as they are quite wide at the calf- they are supposed to be wide but I have skinny legs. Will tromp about the house in them and decide today I think. Hobbs site not loading on my computer properly so will link later.

roary · 10/09/2010 11:01

They are the Benenden bikers, on the RH side of the page. Annoying to link to Hobbs.

blossoming · 10/09/2010 11:56

Thankyou roary, will look later. Think I may have spent my leather jacket money on my Barbour though!!

dolcee, are those boots walkable?

Well I am wet and cold. Barbour had it's first outing and it was great. Only I'd worn a thin top u/neath and ballet flats. Then after a soaking went to 'you & me' in a prefab building with no heating and sat around getting colder by the minute for two hours. (that'll teach me to go anywhere without boots, socks, scarf, cardigan and vest. Oh the joys of living in a lake and mountain setting. Should have gone to the shops.

Sounds like there are some great weekends planned. Dc1 has a party tonight; dh will need some tlc after terrible week; toy story 3 finally in town tomorrow.. Wedding reception tomorrow night in the golf club. What to wear, as it's close to walk but up the steepest hill and dh not coming. Heels in handbag? Or just wear flats?

hf128219 · 10/09/2010 12:25

bloss You go to the Golf Club tomorrow AM and leave your heels somewhere safe - in the loo, behind the bar/under the leather sofa.

You then walk in flats and no need for bulky handbag!

AllBuggiedOut · 10/09/2010 12:56

Genius idea hf Grin

Grabbed a few hours in town yesterday morning with a friend. So today am wearing this top with 7/8 dark skinny jeans from Gap. Got other bits in Gap with the 30% voucher; khaki jumper, teal matchstick cords and another pair of jeans that I'm not sure about. Some bits for the kids too. Then the Monsoon velvet coat I'd spotted online and looks amazing with a rust jersey scarf. Boot shopping was rubbish though; want something smart-ish, brown and neat fitting roung the ankles. Still need a proper warm winter coat, and really should stop buying bottoms as I have masses and concentrate on tops which for some reason I'm finding much harder. Might give this Jigsaw top a whirl in the dark brown.

Off to try and catch up on posts now - but before I do, thought of you last night carciofi when munching my risotto carciofi in Strada Smile

VerityBrulee · 10/09/2010 12:57

Carciofi Barbour site has updated to say Anyas are available on MyWardrobe (sold out) and Selfridges. Checked there, not online but maybe worth a phonecall if you're still interested.

Lovely dress Roary, I love easy navy dresses.

Hope you are having a great, family day Zembo

Got soaked this morning bloss , this is it now isn't it? Grey, wet and miserable until next June Sad

Ds1 and dd going on playdates this afternoon, so taking ds2 shopping. He is uber-fussy about his clothes (didn't get that from me, eh?)so I'm bringing him to choose his own coat, then he won't be able to complain that he doesn't like it - I hope! Planning to ply him with sushi to get him in a good mood Smile

bunnymother · 10/09/2010 13:27

Roary - lovely WC dress! I actually have a dress similar in style (but is maternity) - will get it out this weekend, if cool enough. Who am I kidding, summer is over, will wear dress tomorrow Smile

tracey - forgot to thank you for your kind offer of the Phil & Teds coccoon. I have one, but thank you!

Bloss - I found my perfect red pashmina!!! Found it in local charity shop for £20 - oh how wise, oh how caring but most of all, oh how avid!! Thanks for your help! Been looking for almost 2 years. Poor thing getting frozen this morning! Being cold is misery.

Another one whose DH needs tlc this weekend. Esp since DD kept him up for 1.5 hours at dawn, then I accidentally turned off his alarm making him late for work and important conference call. DH is never mad at me, but got close this morning!! V contrite bunny today.

blossoming · 10/09/2010 13:41

Ah yes, the glamour of the 70s golf club. Yes, you may laugh. I shall picture you in Claridges HF wearing dvf of course!
Crossed my mind for a nanosecond to wear a dvf black dress, but fear it will be jeans.

ollie, that top looks nice. Love your DM links always!

roary, thanks for the navy shirt link. Having problems with Hobbs site so can't find the leather one. When did Hobbs change its image? Didn't it used to be all boxy linen stuff?

Good job the rugby's back verity to keep my mind off the chocolate cupboard. It's going to be a long winter!! Good luck with the shopping.
About to do a baby boden shop. How cute.

DolceeBanana · 10/09/2010 13:41

Great dress Roary...looks really beautiful!I had earmarked too...now you've convinced me!

Bloss-Have to admit to only having walked around shop and bedroom in them Hmm .... so cannot say for sure...but I feel they will be fine...I am getting quite used to heels now - after a lifetime of flats....need a little va va voom I think! Which is why hf's idea about leaving heels at golf club and walking in flats seems clever!

Tracey - I wear a lot of khaki too...think it suits blondes OWW....

Bunny - sort of thing I would do re alarm clock! I usually inadvertently turn the sound off/down so DH misses the alarm altogether...then he is Angry Ho hum!!!! Did you order your dressing gown? Oh sorry...velour robe (sounds nicer!)....

blossoming · 10/09/2010 13:43

Oh dear bunny. Will ply my dh with stellas, red wine, cheese, chocolate, rugby...
What will cheer yours up?
Great find re pashmina. May still go for the rio red if I have change left over from the baby boden (who am I kidding!!)

notyummy · 10/09/2010 13:46

Ooh, Roary - am lusting after that WC dress. However after new underwear, two new dresses and a pair of boots, I feel I really must be strong for at least the rest of the month week. Grin

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 10/09/2010 13:56

Happy Friday everyone. Italy was wonderful; being back, rather less so Grin

Holiday capsule wardrobe was successful, one dress even remained unworn Shock

quick skimmy catch up read ... too much to recap but glad all well and, most importantly, wonderful, wonderful news about your dad MM, am so delighted for you.

Many warm Eid wishes Zembo. Happiness to you and yours. Smile

DolceeBanana · 10/09/2010 14:08

Oh Bloss - tell me about it - have filled a heavy basket with baby boden stuff and am just umming and ahhing over pushing the button! I did get DD2 the grey cord dress and thights and grey/red floral trews and they are beautiful...so just as likely to do...trouble is I get a bit carried away with kids clothes and have spent an arm and a leg on cute things!

blossoming · 10/09/2010 14:23

dolcee, especially if I put the navy and red top in for me too!!
I have shoes from lkbennett with the same heel as those boots. I was tempted before this rain came down!

traceybath · 10/09/2010 14:33

Barbour minx available here carciofi and VB.

bunnymother · 10/09/2010 14:44

Dolce - yes! Sure did order the gown (doesn't that sound glam! Imagining a dreamy satin 20's number arriving instead of a dressing gown). Will have to see is size S is ok. Nothing fits at the mo so will be hard to know if would fit post DCs. Will get DH's opinion (once spent all weekend smooching up to him).

Bloss - well, Stellas are a good start w my DH. But would then need to follow up w his fave dinner - pasta and meatballs (sigh), spaghetti bol and promise of 24 hours off any childcare duties. Bracing myself.

carciofi · 10/09/2010 14:45

Thanks Tracey and Verity. It is a lovely jacket but I decided to go for the Cameron, if I can find it in stock anywhere when I get back.

Welcome back LTEC, glad you had a good time.

Blossoming, wear the DVF!

Roary, happy to help! I like the WC dress, it is on my list. I might exchange my poncho for it as not sure how much I really will wear the poncho.

I'm off to put seven sundresses in a bag for Nice. See you all in a week. :)
