Hello all!

OP posts:
eshermummy · 06/09/2010 22:24

MM - there was a real mix of clothing in evenings but will write you a proper precis tomorrow as am getting too tired now and should really be off to bed.
Will also run through the restaurant options we went to as don't know if will be the same when you go, but they were all very busy/reservations needed.
Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Is Cakey back from hols tomorrow?

MarshaBrady · 06/09/2010 22:25

I'd say the oasis one esher Smile

monkeysmama · 06/09/2010 22:42

Cakey is back already. She's been on FB and seems to have had a wonderful time Smile. Ah Esher I'd really appreciate that.

nancydrewrocked · 06/09/2010 22:46

Both bags would be nice with completely different outfits. Depends what sort of stuff you usually wear?

notyummy · 06/09/2010 23:02

Zembo - Just received this from DH - thought I would pass it on...!

''What a fanastic evening that was. Just back from spending the evening with xxx and some other Muslim colleagues. He has a massive tent on his lawn and we were treated as guests of honour. Also present were guys from Saudi, Yemen, Afghanistan, Somalia and Egypt.

The evening started with coffee and a chat around a fire. Then we broke the fast with starters before our hosts went to quickly pray and then come back for the main course. The food was amazing - all different dishes from the respective countries. Some spicy, some very sweet but all really tasty. The wife of one of the Yemenis had even cooked a curry for us (despite it not being what they would usually eat). We were waited on hand and foot and then returned to the fire for sweets and coffee. I am genuinely so full that I am on the verge of being sick! Whenever our plates got below 2kg of food, we were given more - as there must have been 20 main dishes and 20 starters then there was always something else to try and we did not want to appear rude.

The conversation was very good - funny and a really good chance to find out some of the views of the guys there. The whole event was very humbling and, to top off all the generosity and kindness, were given a huge goody bag on departure. I am very glad we turned up bearing gifts (not just dates but sweets, nuts, chocolate for the kids and coffee). I have drunk so much coffee (nice Arabic coffee with saffron and cardamon) that I suspect I will not be going to sleep for some time yet!!

Please thank your Mumsnet friend for me when you get a chance.

I am heading off to bed (with my massively distended stomach - I feel like a snake that has swallowed a cow!!!''

So your words of wisdom were of help. Smile

esher - like both bags but first slightly more.

Night all.

RedBlueRed · 06/09/2010 23:16

Esher yes thats the one. I started it a couple of years back but injured my ankles so have done no running for the last 18months. I always used to struggle getting exercise in without DS around so as soon as he could ride his bike I started running with him.

Someone asked on the last thread about the Asos khaki biker skinny jeans - I suppose they do have a bit of give in them but I have just worn them for evenings out so just for a few hours.

Zembo · 07/09/2010 06:22

Notyummy sounds like your husband had an amazing and very memorable evening! You see he should have fasted to fit that lot in Grin Thanks for sharing, again, I wish I'd been there. That level of hospitality sounds very familiar. When we (i.e. my mum) have dinner parties the prep takes forever as we have so many dishes. I thought it was just the Bengalis (and the Italians) that were obsessessed with food though.

Busy week here with my DD leaving nursery, starting school and then Eid at the end of the week. Been making Eid cards, wrapping presents etc etc. Oh, and I have a new iphone that I need to learn how to use.

Hope to catch up properly soon. Have a good day everyone.

bunnymother · 07/09/2010 08:05

Quick post from me...

esher - how about this Zara bag? I am contemplating it (not loving it, but best option I have seen so far). Of the 2 you linked to, prefer the Oasis one. Temperley dress is beautiful and v rock chick - love it!

fleecy - have fab holiday!! Well done on the packing, too!

notyummy - your DH received such generous hospitality - what a superb evening it sounds to have been.

nancy - not normally a fan of that shaped shoe, but those grey shoes are lovely!

DD torturing me w night waking due to teething so when babysitter here this afternoon am off to scan of babies then Westfield - hurrah! And if I should accidentally pass The White Company (aka home of the velour hooded robe)... Any discount codes going around for them?

bunnymother · 07/09/2010 08:08

Before DD wakes and all hell breaks loose, isn't this orange LK Bennett bag a piece of happiness? I love orange. Incidentally, Frank Sinatra's favourite colour, in case I am not the only Frankie fan on this thread...

AllBuggiedOut · 07/09/2010 09:21

Dolce well done holding it together on day 1. How was he today? Both DS's practically skipped into school this morning; DS1 who doesn't particularly like it ran in with his friend and hardly said goodbye, DS2 very happy to return for day 2. Hope yours was too.

I on the other hand am feeling tired, miserable and have a headache Sad. Must get some washing on then take DS3 swimming. Hope to return later to look at clothes to cheer me up!

monkeysmama · 07/09/2010 10:23

Morning ladies

I now have a fridge full of Dukan food and have decided not to do it. Dp reminded me last night that my coldsores are always triggered by too much protein and the sun. If I go on holiday with loads on Sunday night they'll eat my face and spread in the sun. Going to keep on with the shredding Shock and just be happy with myself.

I am on the look out for some wedge ankle boots but in leather (they all seem to be suede) and some black leather biker boots. I saw the new Ugg biker boots last week and really liked them until I saw the sole which is like the usual Ugg sole. I don't want to pay £250+ for a foamy sole.

I've also had a big underwear splurge and purge. It's really hard, even in this day and age, to find nice underwear in bigger sizes. All I wanted was a tshirt bra in a 32G with some shape to it. In the end I had to buy 4 of the same one.

Found some miracle bikini bottoms for less than a tenner in Debenhams. They hold the bit of fat I hate in and give me the body I want and used to have.

Dp accidentally Hmm threw my bag of nail varnishes away last week. It had about 30 bottles in as well as all the other nail related paraphernalia. Nice excuse to buy a whole new selection of Essie polishes.

I've also bought a new suitcase. It is pretty ugly but so light. I spent a long time looking at it when it arrived - it is quite unbelievable they've made it so strong as it really weighs nothing. emotiocon

Right, off to unload shopping, shred and other glamourous things.

Great grey shoes nancy
Have received the new Toast catalogue this morning, have to say I am prefering Kew!
Actually,Kew is a bit Toast like this season, imo.

blossoming · 07/09/2010 11:41

That sounds very wise monkeysmama. I hope you have a great holiday. Good news on the bikini bottom purchase.

Zembo · 07/09/2010 12:01

Have a fab holiday fleecy!

FritziGreenEyes · 07/09/2010 12:05

esher - Like the second bag better but if you want classic first or bunny's from Zara would probably better.

Restisted the urge to put on tights and new autumn dress this morning. Opted for silk floral blouse, bootcuts, silver ballet Blochs and long cashmere cardi instead. What is everyone else wearing today? Need some inspiration for easing myself into autumn.

monkeysmama - Magic bikini bottoms sound great. What are you going to do with all the Dukan food in your fridge now? Probably wise not to do it as you wouldn't want cold sores on holiday. Great suitcase. We have two Rimowas which are not pretty either but so practical and DD loves them too everything Smile. She even has her own little wheelie suitcase.

Sounds like your DH had a great time notyummy!

Hope you don't get too stressed in the run up to Eid zembo.

Great shoes nancydrew!

Enjoy your trip to Westfield bunny! Excited for you about the scan.

traceybath · 07/09/2010 12:43

Morning - have been to massive park and m&s and am enjoying dukan lunch of prawns and hard boiled eggs - yummy.

In | Latest Designer FashionLHN--r1|c3--931203 Barbour has landed and I absolutely love it.

Right will catch up now

AllBuggiedOut · 07/09/2010 13:16

Very wise mm. I'm sure you will look amazing on holiday Smile

Thrilled you love your Barbour tracey

My sequined FC number arrived this morning and is going back - sleeves big and flappy and very low cut under the arms, and neckline is strange too.

And I phoned M&S about the camel coat and they seemed to think it would never be coming in Hmm so the hunt is back on. I may have to buy this as an interim Grin

dexter73 · 07/09/2010 13:18

I am very jealous of your Barbour tracey - it is absolutely gorgeous!

MM - think wise decision re dukan - I'm giving it a go as need a kick-start really. Also have quiet week ahead and DH away so lots of early nights planned.

Bunny - that orange bag is lovely. You see if it were me I'd forget the nappy bag and just buy that. But then I've never really used a nappy bag. Just shove it in whatever random bag and in the bottom of the pushchair or now in my handbag.

ABO - I think m&s customer service is shocking! OWW had ishoos with them too.

Dexter - oh it is lovely and has sweet little internal pockets saying lipstick etc.

Right - really need to do some uniform labelling.

Oh if anyone likes wildlife programmes - I've been watching the mountain gorillas ones on iplayer and they're lovely. Watched one with ds1 yesterday and he found all the mating hilarious as a 6 year old boy would I guess.

rufus101 · 07/09/2010 13:41

The shoes are DIVINE Nancy.
MM what are these miracle bikini bottoms? I want them! I know someone who takes acyclovir tablets prophalactically before holidays, they get such bad cold sores! I got a fantastic Essie nail polish last week called chantilly. It's lovely, a kind of griege.
Must get your advice on how to work my j brand jeggings. ?Boots?Shoes?Top attire. I find I don't seem to get it exactly right.

rufus101 · 07/09/2010 13:45

Tracey. Barbour is very covetable. LOVE the AH quilting!
