Before you go carciofi, La Porchette(?) on Cours Saleya (the flower market in Nice) made a lovely ham and chips for dc1 and the best steak frites I had all holiday. Have a wonderful time. I love Nice.

A promise of two lie-ins and a trip to toy story 3 should do it for my dh too bunny.

carciofi · 10/09/2010 17:38

Thanks Blossoming. I'll check out that restaurant.

bunnymother · 10/09/2010 17:50

Bloss - will be thinking of you as we try and cheer our DHs up. I am going to keep on treating myself to Pret at every opportunity to get me through! Its what helps make the daily playground trips easier...

vinvinoveritas · 10/09/2010 17:54

traceybath · 10/09/2010 17:55

My DH nearly home and very happy - 2 separate weeks away a year mountain biking keeps him very happy Grin But maybe a tad extreme when you're about to have twins Wink

Carciofi - have a lovely holiday.

Hi there

I am utterly LOVING these boots.

www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/shoesandboots/16/9

Thing is, I like a nice high heel, as I don't have the greatest legs and flats do them NO favours. Need something for the winter school runs, but not sure if these are too low.

LOVE them though Grin

bunnymother · 10/09/2010 18:05

Carciofi - Nice? Ooh how fantastic!! Enjoy!

Cakey - buona sera! So glad you had a great holiday! The FB pics look terrific.

Tracey - no. That is not an option for DH. He is grounded. Instead, how about a Stella and some stodge? Grin

notyummy · 10/09/2010 18:14

Nice boots!

LTEC - Great to hear from you! Did you get to wear some outfits and look gorgeous? Did you relax? Lovely facebook shots - looking slinky in the bikini!

I am very touched - just opened a lovely parcel from a friend of mine in Scotland who remembered that DD was starting school and that DH was going away, so wanted to cheer me up. Just So Stories book for DD as a 'starting school' present, and a OPI nail varnish and running jacket for me. We have been best friends since we were 12 and although now do v different things, she still completely 'gets' me. Just so nice for someone to go out of their way for you.

Roary that WC dress is so nice. Want it badly, and have put it in my basket, but just decided to double check in case there's a WC code floating around. I know there was one, but is it defunct?

Carciofi have a great holiday. I too thank you for my Lily and Lionel scarf. It is much admired! Got a very bizarre email from the company today, (they obviously emailed the wrong "Rufus") talking about invoices and increasing orders, and how they are in the process of taking on extra staff to cope with demands, but still wouldn't be able to get said order out for 2-3 weeks!

Bloss definitely heels! And a very very clever idea by HF. I didn't want to walk with my choos on the gravel driveway a couple of weekends ago, and walked out to gate, in my flats, left them inside the gate, put on the choos and stepped into the taxi. And of course, did the reverse when I came home.Driver and DH thought I was barmy! (Do I care?!) Your DH's ideal dinner sound like our usual Friday night dinner, steak, beer, wine, cheese, and chocolate!

blossoming · 10/09/2010 19:33

Hi ltec, and sleepycaz I like the boots!

dolcee, have placed a big order, but wish I'd put the baby peacoat in too!

rufus, to be fair, he had the mackerel and brown rice last night, so justified in feeding him 'indulgent picking food' tonight! Choos, there's a thought, could the golf club cope???

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2010 19:54

What shoes are people wearing with jeans (skinny or otherwise)?

Not sure about the sole but nice colour. Heels and jeans are out?

Yves Saint Laurent but probably too exxy.

A DKNY ankle boot. Nice, not too exxy but oh the suede in rain is not good I think...

Are you all doing biker boots?

Welcome back ltec. Glad you had a nice time.

blossoming · 10/09/2010 20:31

marsha, I would like to wear shoe boots or cage shoes with my skinnies. I agree re the suede but I think the nicest shoe boots are in suede. I have platform heel courts I will still wear, on trend or not. My reality is m&s ballet flats and fly boots. Biker is wrong on me. For smart days my ancient (but well maintained) r&b riding type boot. I need a long boot, biker too short.

bunnymother · 10/09/2010 20:36

Rufus - WC code: spg10 takes 20% off + free delivery

bunnymother · 10/09/2010 20:41

Marsha - love the Tory Burch boots (agree not sure about the sole, but the rest of it makes up for that). YSL boot has a big Y on it (I don't like any badging/logos) and think you can get similar for much less. DKNY ankle boot looks nice but 1/10 for durability, esp as suede goes all the way to the ground so the slightest dampness on the ground will mark them. Indoor shoes. I like boots w skinnies - riding boots (biker boots not for me), (some) ankle boots and shoe boots. Bloss's suggestion of cage shoes sound great, too! I also wear ballet flats and flip flops (in summer) w my skinnies.

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2010 20:46

yy this is great Bloss and Bunny, really great thanks. I agree re logo.

I am not buying bikers as already have some exxy black ones from a few years ago.

I have some Chloe / Vanessa B ankle boots (grey and navy suede so all good there) and suede beige VWs, black MJs, caramel and grey knee highs.

But still in summer I found I put on Blochs nearly every day!

So an AW shoe to wear for every day. I don't think I've cracked it with those links.

DolceeBanana · 10/09/2010 20:52

Oh Tracey - glad DH back and that he's a happy chappy ... means you can get to spoil yourself over the weekend hopefully! Mind you, he's probably living off that wonderful ring he surprised you with already, bless him!

Glad you got the 'gown' bunny...you will be tres comfy and elegant in that! I once opened the door to my postie in mine at about 10 o'clock one morning! And he exclaimed, 'what a nice dressing gown!', honestly! It was when my 1st born was tiny and we were having very lazy mornings in between snacks feeds.....

Bloss- the peacoat is fab and love the red but DD has a new red duffle coat so decided against...awwwwwwwww.....I sooo love kiddies clothes!

Notyummy - what a fab friend...so kind...We have just bought the 'Just So' stories for ours...

Welcome back LTEC!!! Glad you had a fab time in Florence (can't wait to take our namesake there!)and yes, looking very glam in the fb photos!

DolceeBanana · 10/09/2010 20:55

Right off to fake tan (only legs thankfully!!!) and beautify for tomorrow's wedding! Have a fab weekend, and hope the celebrations are going well Zembo! I can just imagine all that delicious food! Please whet our appetites with details of the feast when you can....mmmm...mmm! Smile

DolceeBanana · 10/09/2010 20:57

Carciofi - have a fab time in Nice (stayed in Mougins)....went there on last hols BC and had a ball...love the approach of the airport over the sea - exhilirating!

monkeysmama · 10/09/2010 21:38

Will read back over day's posts later but just checking in to say hi. Was waxed & threaded to within an inch of my life earlier. It hurt soooo much. Hadn't thought it through properly so had to pour my poor bikini line & raw legs back into skinny jeans as soon as she finished Hmm.

Dp came home with holiday pressies including the new iPhone for me. The sim card is different to normal
ones so I can't make it work but it doesn't upset me I can't take it to sit by a pool for 2 weeks. We also have a new ipad. A bit one man goes mad in the apple shop.

Pedicure, haircut then wedding tomorrow. Am
almost all packed though and we don't leave tol Sunday late. Though I expect to be disgracefully hungover Sunday morning.

Right, will read back now.

Carciofi buone vacanze & Zembo hope you're having a great dayGrin.

eshermummy · 10/09/2010 22:47

MM - so sorry I haven't been around of late to give you info on the restaurants. Rl mini-crisis (now resolved) intervened Sad. Great news about your dad Smile

Here is a list of restaurant recommendations:

in the marina we ate at
Tomata
Macaroni
Vosporus grill (can't bill to room, cash only, there's a cashpoint in marina btw)
Psarrr.....something Taverna

all of above v child friendly and v good food.

We also ate at Water Restaurant in Sani Asterias hotel - more formal/fine dining. Very nice but more ££££ and adults only.

Friends recommended the See You restaurant if you like sushi - DH allergic to shellfish so we didn't try.

We also did the Greek night in our hotel - Porto Sani Village - Wed night? Highly recommend. V child friendly - live Greek music which all the toddlers can dance to (!!) and dedicated children's play area with supervisor in one corner of dining room.

HTH, sorry to rush in and out but felt really bad for not being around. hope you have a great hols.

Carciofi - have a great hols.

Cake - welcome home Grin.
