Hello all!

Cake - come back we neeeeeed you to tell us about your holiday....

Another vote for the second dress monkeysmama. Agree that restrictive eating is not a good example for DCs. Don't mean to criticize those of you who are dieting which is not a problem if you generally like your body and just want to loose a couple of pounds. But I'm still struggling to find a healthy approach and accept myself as I am as all my family has issues with weight/eating/food/dieting. My dad even brings or buys his own food when he is visiting Confused. Not because he is allergic or anything just because he doesn't seem to like what we offer.

Thanks for all your comments regarding men's shoes. Those links are really helpful. DH is not really that fashion-forward so I'll have to wean him off his old battered pair slowly and introduce the idea of something new. He has classic Timberland boots for winter but it is still too warm for that. I'm impressed with MrMonkeys shoe collection. Very avid Grin. And of course DD loves her Crocs too. But she can only wear those in the garden or on beach/farm etc. Think I might come over as a bit of a control freak when it comes to my family's outfits. I'd rather be remembered for imposing restrictions on footwear than on food though.

vinvinoveritas · 08/09/2010 10:20

I cannot be bothered to impose style restrictions on P. he really is bad though, we're talking blue jeans, pale trainers, occasionally nice brown brogues falling apart, fleeces Shock old t shirts etc. Eugh. I tried to buy lots of nice trousers/shirts/jumpers that were lovely but he just never wore them!

Is it too late to invest in classic leopard scarf?

bunjies · 08/09/2010 10:22

MM - think the Shimmer dress would be perfect.

Dh bought a couple of casual trainer/shoes from Clarks in the sale. I can't link to the ones he got as they're out of stock now but they were similar to these.

I am in love. If I ever get a job that requires me to carry a laptop/notebook then this is the bag for me.

FritziGreenEyes · 08/09/2010 10:34

vino the leopard scarf is lovely and a timeless classic.

DH wears whatever he sees first when he opens his drawer. He applies the same principle when dressing DD. Would love him to have his colours done. Think it's great that MrBlossoming is in touch with his stylish side and has not outright refused!

blossoming - You deserve the most fabulous birthday ever! Please wear the Bec dress or something else that makes you feel great. I have already started to fantasize about my fourtieth for next year. I'm torn between a big party with all my friends at home, holiday far away with DD and DH or maybe a weekend away with some girlfriends. Ahem that sounds really spoilt but I have had so many miserable birthdays in the past when DH was working or something else was always more important.

Sorry. I'm babbling today. Should really get some work done ...

MarshaBrady · 08/09/2010 10:59

Ah those boots were fugo yes. no takers Grin.

The dukan isn't too bad after time honestly! We make Reine de Saba (fave cake) often and I don't have to eat teensy portions at dinner. I just don't eat piles of pasta, potatoes or processed stuff. Still loads of veg. It gets good really and honestly. But mostly people should eat in a way that makes them happy.

I couldn't have survived the last 9 months without the extra energy I get, what with this hideous sleep deprivation. I think bodies must suit different diets.

vinvinoveritas · 08/09/2010 11:36

I can't open asos marsha, I'm sure the boots are lovely. I really must fix my laptop!

I feel a lot better since I quit dairy (I lapse occasionally with carrot cake and dark chocolate) but on the whole it's really easy and I just feel a lot brighter.

Have been very good and am resisting the scarf and the jacket

what is oatbran!?

VerityBrulee · 08/09/2010 12:26

Vino I am dairy free and made the most fab carrot cake www.mumsnet.com/Talk/recipes/1026286-Anyone-got-a-truly-yummy-carrot-cake-recipe. Virtuous and delicious Smile Good luck with the exams

Tracey I am pining for the Anya coat, might get it as Christmas present. What is the sizing like? How warm is it do you think?

Fritzi dd wears <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=www.shoesforkids.co.uk/images/shoes_for_Girls/START_RITE_LOUISA_RED.JPG&imgrefurl=www.shoesforkids.co.uk/size10girls.asp%3FRSstartat%3D21%26kw%3D&usg=__xWMCYfi15KO1dn8Em8nxVIeyU6Y=&h=242&w=250&sz=7&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=gVF53vCBz_DG_M:&tbnh=119&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dstartrite%2Blouisa%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4DAIE_en-GBIE308IE310%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D505%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=126&vpy=68&dur=2636&hovh=193&hovw=200&tx=122&ty=135&ei=F3GHTL7_B4rqOJWD1IQO&oei=F3GHTL7_B4rqOJWD1IQO&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=23&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Startrite Louisa in red for everyday and has a silver leather shoe which is almost identical by Max and May from the kids shoe shop One Small Step. There was consternation when she started school last year and was supposed to wear runners for PE. Luckily we found a silver leather pair, phew Grin BTW it is me doing the Clean & Lean and I feel great, more energy than I've had for years. I tend to have issues with food but use this a rules/guidelines for eating healthily. And if it works for Elle McPherson......Smile

blossoming · 08/09/2010 12:42

fritzi, the Bec will be worn of course! It's the shopping boozy lunch that's the problem. Is there always a problem with tops I wonder? The only one I like at the moment is this boden stripe, navy and red being such great colours for me. But my wardrobe is groaning with stripey tops, and is it really smart enough to meet the girls in anyway? Decisions, decisions..

Just had a lovely lunch of fresh tuna, ginger and soy, extremely delicious. Of course I then find out the soy was full of sugar. GRR!! How am I ever going to lose the weight if there's sugar hidden in everything?

VerityBrulee · 08/09/2010 12:48

Bloss I love stripes too - navy and red v chic Smile

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 13:44

Verity - hmm, will look at Clean and Lean when had the babies as will need to seriously diet to drop the kgs. Although Dukan also sounds good - am better without too many carbs (I balloon and feel sluggish yet craving more, esp if the culprit is wheat).

Verity and Marsha - please do not link to any more cake recipes. This is a request from my thighs. Although I must confess to inhaling the choc chip cookie from Pret yesterday and admitting that its likely I will be going there again before the park this afternoon. Dear me.

Vin - LOVE the leopard print scarf - just beautiful!! Think you can't go wrong w that one. Now, I know I have banged on about this before, but have you seen the Gap down filled jackets - how warm would your DS be in that? I rate Gap for babies/children's clothes - always been v pleased w my purchases from there. And Zara (w a touch of H&M for basics thrown in).

Right, am going to order the WC robe in a small based on the MN threads I could dig up. Feel free to chuckle at the thought of the robe struggling to cover my bump. Thanks for your help, ladies!

Oh, and Fritzi - I have decided to keep the French Connection grey coat. Wore it this morning and v happy with it - THANK YOU for finding it for me!! Just need to find the perfect blood red pashmina for a big splash of colour. Anyone know where I can get one? Been looking literally for years. Since someone stole my last one when I was drunk celebrating Christmas in a bar a few years ago. Hardly festive to take someone's scarf!

DolceeBanana · 08/09/2010 14:14

Bloss...I am a stripes fanatic too. I also love spots and gingham...sad but true...

DH - very much his own man in the style stakes. Wears exxy brogues with suits for work and has Italian loafer-y type shoes, plus deck shoes and converse (which he's worn for years)...

Bunny - would def get the small velour robe...Oh, I looooove it. So cosy...I've had 2 in the last 4 years....because I've worn them out basically.

Lovely day here ....DS at school, DD at nursery and baby DD sleeping so going to have a cup of White Tea in garden.....

blossoming · 08/09/2010 14:18

bunnymother, look on the mypashmina website where I got my 'eclipse' one. They have loads of colours and then you decide the size. Almost bespoke. And only £45 or so. I might have to copy you though!! I have one, but it's linen so better for spring.

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 14:35

Bloss - thanks! Having a looksy now (DD is "talking" up a storm in her cot post nap - I am loving it!!). They don't have the right red for me, but there are other colours raspberry wine and purple haze look good. As does dusty lavender, seagrass looks lush] and who doesn't want to visit [[http://www.mypashmina.co.uk/beta/pashminas/pashmina_stoles/mp105n_800x800.jpg Provence?

blossoming · 08/09/2010 14:39

I thought 'rio red' would be good. How are you doing the links?

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 14:50

carciofi · 08/09/2010 15:03

I survived Gambados but won't be rushing back! Bunny, yes, I am not that far from you, I think, I am in SW6.

Vino, it is never too late for a leopard scarf! I am thinking of subscribing to Elle and they have a Lily and Lionel code for subscribers so if I get that, I will let you know.

I emailed My-Wardrobe and they are no longer honouring the Mumsnet discount. Don't think they should be advertising on the discounts page really.

I keep thinking about the Barbour, might return the J Brands and get it instead.

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 15:13

Double post Blush

Bloss - Rio Red you say? Need to find a scarf that does that colour and will look. Re links, I click on the enlarged photo w the scarf in the selected colour then copy the URL at the top of the pop out.

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 15:16

Oh dear Carciofi - not a ringing endorsement for Gambados, is it?! Hmm, close but not neighbours Grin What the devil - I agree - get off the site My Wardrobe if you aren't going to follow through! Chic tease (ha ha ha)

carciofi · 08/09/2010 15:21

Bunny, I am sure you look divine! I, on the other hand, am mostly in my uniform of jeans, t-shirts and flats. :)

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 16:12

Err, as opposed to my uniform of jeans, any top that fits and flats? Smile

MM - forgot to say 2nd Reiss dress is beautiful! Looks like the right choice, and I esp like the name Smile.

Hmm, just tried to leave w DD for the afternoon. At the exact time the skies opened up - not good timing, Bunny!!

OllieWollieWoo · 08/09/2010 16:22

Popped into the city centre today and found that a large Monsoon concession has opened in one of the department stores - got v excited - not cos I buy a lot from Monsoon but its nice to have a bit more non-Dutch style choice iykwim! (But they have oinked the prices up - a dress which is 40 pounds in UK is 70 euros over here).

Also saw everythings lovely new hat in Accessorize and had a W&A smile to myself - I love walking round and seeing things I know you lot have brought!

Blossoming - H&M had several nice checked shirts if you wanted one that didnt cost a lot? The LOGG bit in there had a lovely fitted one in white with a navy/red checked. Not on their website so no link.

blossoming · 08/09/2010 17:38

Thanks for that ollie, can't wait to do rl shopping!
bunny, what colour do you think cherry is? here.

blossoming · 08/09/2010 17:41

Does this come up as rio red?

bunnymother · 08/09/2010 17:59

Bloss - oh that cherry by Pure looks perfect! Why don't they do a big pic though?? Can't get Mypashmina link to work, though - v annoying!

carciofi · 08/09/2010 18:40

Huh, just tried to buy the Anya Hindmarch Barbour coat from My-Wardrobe and they are all sold out already!
