To give you a giggle. I just opened the front door to a salesman. I said 'I'm just the cleaner'

He didn't dispute it! Grin

Nice one hf!
My issue with bootcuts yangymac is that altough they looked great if long enough, with heels, they looked ridiculous on me with flats. And what a revelation to see skinnies with ballet flats. I wear jbrand 91210. My best purchase of 2010!

mrsjuan · 17/09/2010 14:31

What are you wearing with your skinnies for winter though boss? Or are you a hardy type that can wear ballet flats all year?

Tasks done, DD still asleep - thanks for the motivation NY!

Am intrigued by the bdg skinnies yangy, esp the fact that they aren't too low rise. A lot of us had the bgg combats for summer and they did indeed come up very small. What size would you recommend? I am usually a 10. My 7fam are a 29.

blossoming · 17/09/2010 14:43

Oh no mrsjuan, I'm already in boots!!! But the ballet flats round the house (must not give in to fluffy slippers, again..)

roary · 17/09/2010 15:39

Notyummy love the Mad Men dress. I don't think it's too dressy for work at all! I'd wear it to work and I'm an academic whose colleagues show up in 30 year old tweed jackets with elbow patches. :)

It just needs a bright cardigan(I like the cerise jacket below, but orange, green etc would be lovely too) and a black belt and you're laughing.

Wow roary, I didn't realise you were an academic. So is my dh. You must really show them up every day. All the ones I've met look like social misfits!!

MarshaBrady · 17/09/2010 16:35

Yangy love Wolfords, well done on the sale. I just went to the Wolford site (the actual one) to order some and there are hardly any there. Bonkers.

Ltec your poor friends. So sad Sad.

I haven't had much time to shop recently which is a bit of a poo. So not much to add really.

traceybath · 17/09/2010 18:22

Evening - just whizzing in as am off out with some school mums to discuss class rep duties.

Am incredibly overdressed in jersey grey leopard print dress, black suede shoeboots, black opaques and pleather jacket. Muttontastic Wink

Oh and am wearing spanx - what a revelation - honestly why bother trying to lose that last pesky few lbs when spanx does the job for you?

DolceeBanana · 17/09/2010 20:04

Brrr...it's so cold! So, have just lit a fire, drinking a very chilled glass of sauv. and awaiting a delish takeaway curry! It's my allowed celebratory meal of the week so I am really looking forward to it.

Oops, that turned into 2 glasses - hey, who's counting....???

Wolford are fab, aren't they? Love the quality...last ages ....

Right, where's Hells...? What are you doing Madam? We miss you !....

I had ballet flats (leopard Office ones - thanks to Carciofi-again!!!) on with black super skinnies today for school run (walk)...and then changed to biker boots as so cold....for Toddler group, ballet etc etc etc etc...such is my (new) life at the moment...! I am the new taxi service in gloucestershire!

rufus101 · 17/09/2010 20:34

Dolcee I'll be joining you in that chilled glass of SB as soon as DC are down (in the next 10 minutes if I have anything to do with it!) I failed miserably with Dukan. Could only half do it, and presumably that's worse than not doing it at all! Enormous amounts of protein, plus carbs!

NY I LOVE those M and S Mad Men styles. I'd go for the skirt. Black cashmere knit or white fitted blouse. I have very impressed with your level of industry. I do nothing outside the house. I am firmly of the opinion that it is DH's job. So is he, unfortunately he doesn't do it. If he doesn't do it soon, I am just employing a gardener and billing him.

HF LOL with that line. Memo to self to remember it for future similar situations. They'd easily believe it.

Very proud of DD. She got "Girl of the Week" today at school. Full marks on her maths, spelling, writing, but most importantly for being good! She rang her GPs to tell them. They were all very excited! So touching. I think they got more of a kick out of it than she did.

My search for boots continues. I am seriously contemplating a pair of KG biker boots. I think the ankle bit of those Carvelas would be too "high" for me Cake Will let you know if I am successful.

Hope you're feeling better soon Bloss, don't be too sure of your state! I was almost 10 weeks with my DS2 before the penny dropped. Felt very very foolish!

hf128219 · 17/09/2010 20:39

Rufus Well done to dd - that is lovely!

Dolcee Sounds a perfect evening.

Home alone tonight. DH gone to get pissed his trophy from the sailing race

blossoming · 17/09/2010 20:55

rufus, all has been explained. Only pmt!! And I'd almost convinced myself it wouldn't have been so bad!

Have spent vast amounts of money and time this evening buying crap stuff for dc1's 6th birthday next week. Ladies, what shall I wear? 25 children at the leisure center.
In the evening then we're off out to Chester with married friends who were also 40 this year. I get to wear the bec at last. But maybe a tad overdressed for jelly and ice cream!

hf128219 · 17/09/2010 21:02

Bloss Jbrands, ballet flats and a waterproof/smearproof/dirtproof apron!

And a smile Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 17/09/2010 21:29

tracey that outfit sounds fab. Have fun!

I love Fridays!

Romanarama · 17/09/2010 21:43

Hello everyone, I wish I could still keep up with this. Not much shopping going on here, though I did hit 'buy' on some Jil Sander boots on the Outnet yesterday, so they could improve my Monday next week! DH wants to take me out to buy me a burberry trench tomorrow, but I've got a horrid sore throat so might not manage.

I'm loving the Isabella Oliver site at the moment, but so much that I like is sold out. I should really buy my basket but feel a bit extravagant after the boots (er and 2 theory dresses Blush)

DolceeBanana · 17/09/2010 21:44
eshermummy · 17/09/2010 21:44

LTEC - So sorry to hear about your friends' baby. Desperately sad Sad

Bloss - are you able to get home to change between the 2 events or are you going straight from one to the other. The Bec dress would be perfect for dinner.

My diet/dukan also gone pete tong. Must re-start on Monday when dd2 finally restarts at nursery and I finally get to start my new gym regime!

Lol at Tracey with spanx as the solution to those pesky pounds!

Had a massive ASOS delivery today ......thankfully almost all of it has gone back. I ordered a barbour Kate but it wasn't for me. I also ordered the short furry gilet that Tracey linked to - which was actually very nice but was too fluffy - I wear contact lenses and I can't have any fabrics that moult and I thought the fibres would drive me mad. Constantly running eyes (and mascara) is not a good look Grin

I ordered this dress on a whim - truly minging and the oddest shape.

So the only 2 items I am keeping are these leggings and these jodphur tregging things. I am v pleased with the Kookai ones as they have no fastenings so completely smooth under tops and really thick lycra so hold everything in. Only thing is they must be quite short as they are perfect length on me and i'm only 5 3.
Am planning to wear with knee length boots and crotch covering tops.

I have also been a bit naughty and seem to have bought 2 pairs of ankle boots today Blush. Had these wedge ones delivered and then was passing the shop where Twas got hers and bought these but in black.
Am feeling a bit guilty and may take one pair back but on the other hand they are both very different......

BTW, Twas - have you namechanged? Did you used to have a name a bit like the site or are you another Esher MNer?

Romanarama · 17/09/2010 21:47

Gosh just read back a bit and saw your post about your friends' baby cake. How horribly sad and unfair Sad

FritziGreenEyes · 17/09/2010 21:53

roma great to have you back! Hope your sore throat gets better so you can get that lovely Burberry trench. How is your job and the commute to London going?

esher boots are very different and you will need both for A/W. Keep them!

Feeling already a bit dizzy after only one glass of white. Better go to bed now...

Have fun in London tomorrow blossoming. Looking forward to your report from RL shopping Smile.

blossoming · 17/09/2010 22:08

esher, yes definitely changing and possibly showering, between events!!

eshermummy · 17/09/2010 22:12

Enjoy your day in London tomorrow Bloss - you know you visit central London more often than I do and I'm only a half hour train ride away!
Any particular purchasing plans?

Roma - good to hear from you, hope you feel better tomorrow.

I've just been told (by my MIL) that my MIL is coming for lunch this sunday Hmm
