Hello all!

Cake - come back we neeeeeed you to tell us about your holiday....

OP posts:
CHOOGIRL · 17/09/2010 22:29

Sorry if I've missed it, but Bloss are you coming to London to see the Pope?

bellavita · 17/09/2010 22:52

Sorry to butt in girls, but has anyone seen or heard from hells? She is normally on our Shiney thread but seems to have disappeared. I do have her mobile number but a bit reluctant to txt if she is busy with something.

Someone has got her name too on mn but with a 4 on the end Sad

eshermummy · 17/09/2010 23:01

Hells hasn't been on here for a while either. I know some of the others - LTEC, Tracey have her as a FB friend so they may have heard from her.

rufus101 · 18/09/2010 00:36

PMT Bloss! Enjoy your London trip.

V busy weekend ahead. Football, tap class, 2 birthday parties, dinner with friends...Go go go.

pickledsiblings · 18/09/2010 01:12

Doing a bit of late night shopping and would appreciate some adviceon these shoe boots. What do people think of the rubber heel? Which colour looks best? How would you wear them?

OllieWollieWoo · 18/09/2010 07:17

Morning - I volunteered to get up with the kids today - completely forgetting that I also have an early start tomorrow - got sucked into attending a big Fair for Expats on behalf of the Mums group I help with - have to try and recruit new Mums. I am sooooo bad at saying no to things - DH says the only person I say no to is him Wink

Love looking at the all the lovely boot links. Roman - love the Jill Sander ones -esp the wooden heel.
Hi pickledsiblings - I love the shape of the book you linked too esp the turnover top but not convinced by the rubber heel but don't know why. Mind you, I and clueless (or should that be shoeless ha ha) when it comes to stylish footwear - see what some of the others think!
LTEC so sad about your friend's baby - no idea how you begin to cope with something like that but hope they are holding up as well as they can.
Blossoming - enjoy your day out. If you are reading this on the train - are you planning on popping into Kew - if so, can you please have a look at their boots for me - the three buckle knee high boot and the brown back zip knee high boot. Can't decide between the two and not able to view in RL so would help! Think the former are more fitted and poss a bit smarter. The back zip ones are in washed leather and not sure if they are too splodgey for want of a better word! Please don't make a special trip there tho as not that really important! Thanks!

Had a nice night out at a friends house with another friend - ate apple crumble and scoffed 4 types of ice cream - albeit small portions! Did you know that Aldi does their own version of Ben & Jerrys - the cookie dough and caramel choo choo ones were not bad!
My friend was wearing this cardi in mushroom here - would never have looked at it given the silly pic on website of it pulled accross her front but it was lovely in RL, good everyday staple - look at the video to get a better idea! (I like the jeans she has on on the vid too but can't see them on the website!) Please tell me if I have entered frumpsville tho!

FritziGreenEyes · 18/09/2010 07:51

pickledsiblings as much as I encourage late night shopping I have to agree with ollie: love the boots but not the rubber heel. Sorry...

Have a lovely Saturday ladies! We'll be picking apples all day I guess. DH is already busy outside mowing the lawn while DD and I enjoy a cup of tea/cocoa in bed Smile.

blossoming · 18/09/2010 07:57

Oh no choo, I didn't realise the pope was in London today. It's going to be busy, right?
I'm off to see my hairdresser, the girls at blink, the shoeboots at R&B, the skinny black trousers at Gap and anything else I can fit in!
esher, it does seem rather frequent doesn't it and when I get in my car at 6.30 I'm always thinking what am I doing? But now I'm on the train it's fine. I could get to Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham quicker (not Cardiff though strangely), but then I know London and it keeps me sane living in the back of style beyond as I do.
hells hasn't been back since she told us she was off to NAP has she? I hope she's okay.
So I have a two hour train journey. Come and tell me what you're all up to today!

blossoming · 18/09/2010 08:03

ollie, I may well pop into Kew. I fancy the navy pleated top, although one look at my wardrobe and I think I'm close to overdosing!
pickled, I'm the same, don't like the rubber sole, sorry!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 18/09/2010 08:09

LTEC so sorry to hear about your friend.

blossoming have a fab day in London, very jealous which to be fair is my own fault DH would let me go up whenever I wanted tbh I am just lazy. Would you go to Selfridges and John Lewis and just wander around for me :) As for your birthday party at the leisure centre I would wear something plastic and wipe-clean Wink

esher I love those second pair of boots.

I am helping out with an NCT nearly new sale today. The glamour.....

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 18/09/2010 08:10

oh I'm also very excited because porridge season has started :)

FritziGreenEyes · 18/09/2010 08:18

blossoming quick question re Blink. Which one do you go to? Was planning to have my eyebrows threaded when I go to London in two weeks time. Is it walk in or do you have to make an appointment? Hope you have a lovely cup of coffee and some magazines for the train journey. Your day sounds bliss. Enjoy!

DH kindly picked up a Red magazine for me yesterday. DD is having some friends round this afternoon so will have to wait for quiet moment tonight to indulge in magazine browsing.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/09/2010 08:20

Ah libra porridge lovely!

hf128219 · 18/09/2010 08:28

Bloss Have a lovely day. The new 'fashion floor' is open in John Lewis now. Worth a look - the strange thing is that there are quite a few bits by their own label that are nice.

Do you ever take a stroll up Marylebone High Street?

Off to a National Trust place later today - thought we better use our cards for the first time this year before everything closes!

blossoming · 18/09/2010 08:36

fritzi they are walk in but then they are busy on Saturdays so I either go to harvey Nichols, or john lewis make an appointment for, say half an hour's time, then shop for that time.
hf, I love Marylebone High St but can't fit it in realistically in a day. Looking forward to the new john lewis fashion floor too.
Forgot to pack snacks so bought some twiglets. Yum!!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 18/09/2010 08:41

Does anyone know where you can get babygro type clothing (with feet) for toddlers? (ie. 3 yr olds)

OllieWollieWoo · 18/09/2010 08:51

There is also the new enormous shoe department at Selfridges now!

Moany Liz Jones from DM was very complimentary about the new JL dept - and you know how difficult to please she is! Have fun Blossoming!

Off with kids and DH for a quick shopping trip for new ties for DH and coat for DH - bet we last an hour before coming home!

notyummy · 18/09/2010 09:02

Hi all

Jealous of the London trip Blossoming - although, yes I think it will be busy. Some areas a no-go zone I would think.

Saw on FB that Hells had been to NAP and it was a real let down. She hasn't been active on FB since, so maybe v busy??

Gymnastics today and a playdate for DD tomorrow with her best friend from nursery that has gone to a different school - they are missing each other so it will be nice for them to get togther.

Pickled - Agree with the rubber heels advice!

Fritzi - I was an Operations Director for Aldi for a while and have sampled nearly all their stock.. Most of it come from premium manufacturers and is just packaged differently. I still shop there and think it is excellent value for money.

OP posts:
bellavita · 18/09/2010 09:19

Thanks ladies. She is on my fb too. Think I will send her a txt.

pickledsiblings · 18/09/2010 09:40

Thank you for your thoughts wrt the rubber heeled boots. I feel the same. I think maybe it makes them a bit teenagery.

The search continues...

CHOOGIRL · 18/09/2010 10:46

Oh Bloss you made me rofl at not realising the Pope was in London. It has been wall 2 wall Pope coverage since Thursday. Did wonder why you were coming down today!

Lots of the roads are closed so use the underground and avoid Park Lane/Hyde Park if you can.

Enjoy your trip

blossoming · 18/09/2010 12:13

Good(??) Welsh Methodist me choo! Ignoring your advice as I jump into a cab to Harvey Nic's!!

RedBlueRed · 18/09/2010 15:27

Hello Everyone.

Such sad news about your friends' baby LTEC.

hf128219 I too have NT membership which I have used once this year. Blush

My boots arrived today second from the right and they are staying as they match the first picture rather than the one you see when you click into them.

Not having anywhere glam to go to, I am planning to out them at Tescos! Grin

Pickledsiblings I love your name! Agree with the general consensus on the rubber heels.

Have a lovely days shopping blossoming!

notyummy · 18/09/2010 16:03

Inspired by LTEC's Mum, I am just back from a rummage around our charity shops. Am now the proud owner of a large snuggly pure new wool grey jumper (£2) and a blue and black hooped fitted jumper (£1.50)

Feeling smug - kind of a cross between ecologically aware and tight!

OP posts:
Zembo · 18/09/2010 16:48

Well done notyummy love the recycling aspect of charity shops. I regularly fill the bags that get posted through the letter box but not v good on the acquisition of stuff front. My mum, however, is fantastic so often benefit from her rummagings Smile

Pickledsiblings i had some clarks originals with a rubber sole, they looked so dirty and manky after a few wears! I won't be making that mistake again.

Can anyone advise on Toast sizing? Looking at some black churidars yes optimistic at my height, but they're meant to be worn all bunched up so there's a slim chance they'll look ok. Also considering this dress for work and this tunic in the french blue. I've got a 15% off and free P&P code so could order in multiple sizes. There are a few other bits I like but all overpriced imo.
