Well, I only looked on the Zara site to see if they sold lace tights....

And whilst there I found...

ANOTHER maxi! Might be too 'Little House on the Prairie'/Amish chic, but I could give it a go!

may meet snuggly sweater requirement - as mentioned earlier in thread

Morning,
I like those tights a lot NY. I think I tried that jumper on in Zara NY & it wasn't very nice feeling but I might be wrong as I don't remember the patches on the elbows.

And that dress Tracey - have got to take some bits back to m&s this weekend so will have a look to see if they've got it in.

I bought a little grey tartan mini skirt from red herring at the weekend. Can't find it to link but I think I like it as an alternative to shorts (which make my legs look stumpy) o wear with tights. Might be fooling myself though - it is very short!

DolceeBanana · 16/09/2010 10:03

hello....

Thanks Zembo for your lovely comments

Ny...DS is enjoying school...doing mornings, 3 full days next week and then proper full time...

Have black oxford heels in suede and love them...lots of lacey tights from last year...in black, grey and aubergine....so that's good...but bought from local boutique so not ££s unlike the fab but v £££ Brora ones....

Have cleared wardrobes and culled any unwanted clothes and have a beautifully co-ordinated hanging wardrobe now! Now need, some little suede flat (ballet type) pumps - quite like the Boden corsage ones...and black heeled boots...and just bought some Toggi Quebec boots for walks/wet days walking DS to school....

Also need couple of winter dresses few tops and that's it!...

Have also, thanks to your inspiration Bloss had a massive clear out of playroom and study, and dressed house up for autumn/winter...Hmm . Okay, have washed covers on sofas and draped Brora blankets on sofas and beds in a quest to make like cosy!!!!! Have been very diligent!!!

Bring on autumn I say!

DolceeBanana · 16/09/2010 10:07

Oh and Ny....DS (4) is now at the age where he thinks he wants to be spooked, so assures us he's fine reading this, or watching that, but always, always gets freaked out come bedtime, so we have banned 'spooky' stories etc for a while because he wakes up a quivering mess and talks about 'ghosts and ghoulies' (!)...

DolceeBanana · 16/09/2010 10:08

Tracey - you are an early bird!

Those are great tights .NY, have been ordering from tightsplease, but they take too long to deliver for me.

Also love the Joan style dress. That colour looks bleurgh on me, matches my skin colour too well. I really like the brown boots it was paired with, although not sure they would have gone together.
I have put away all summer clothes and am into A/W totally. Everytime I think "no I don't need anything else" I spy something else I "must have". It's endless really.

Also prefer those Ash wedges. NY do you wear skinnies with shooboots/platform cages? You're same body type as me, and am seeking your styling advice. I always feel I look too pearshaped, despite wearing v dark skinniies. Of course just when I will have mastered the look, fashion will have moved on, and I'll look outdated again!

notyummy · 16/09/2010 11:07

Rufus - As a pear, I have to admit I am a steadfast skinny refuser. That may be fashion heresy, but I have tried on soooo many pairs and never found any that come close to looking as good on me as either straight leg or skinny flare jeans.

I do, however, have both leggings and houli-likes, which arguably have a similar 'look' on a pear shaped person.

I have worn either wedges (shoes/boots) or, with the Houlilikes, my clog boots to add leg length here

OP posts:
rufus101 · 16/09/2010 11:27

Well when I say "skinny" what I mean is like yourself, pencil/straight leg, and leggings of course, which is why I'm looking for chunky knee high boots to make the "skinny" leg look skinnier by comparison. (god does any of that actually make sense?!)
I love the look of those clog boots, but having had a few pairs of wooden soled shoes, fear they are unyielding and hence uncomfortable?

notyummy · 16/09/2010 11:39

It does make sense! I tried exactly that approach, but never quite found that it balanced out my leg in the way you mean - although I think that may be because I didn't get ones with a heel.

The clog boots are reasonably comfy, however I find them quite high (however I am tall and not used to wearing 'proper' heels, so am not very good in them.) Am currently loving my wedge boots as I feel more secure in them - perhaps they could be worth a try?

something like this

these also quite nice

What a morning! Feeling under the weather; spent 3 hrs looking for my house keys, with the cleaner helping; baby clingy; dc1's ht phoned to say I was the new governor; can't get her off the phone and my lunch burnt. May go to bed!

blossoming · 16/09/2010 12:43

Feeling better, cheered by the thought of smart new outfits for governors' meetings!

dolcee, re baby boden, the the pretty cords in navy are gorgeous, as is the pretty cardigan in pink. I also have the grey mouse ls tshirt and the stripy stitch tshirt in the pink. So far, so co-ordinating! I got the two pack pull ons, which, when I put the grey ones on her yesterday, she made as if to kiss me! Poor thing, her clothes were really too small for her! I bought the funky pinafore in the green ready for wear with tights, which I need to get. I think, if I buy the peacoat, she should be alright with some vests and pjs from m/care probably. The red and navy top for me is going back.

OllieWollieWoo · 16/09/2010 13:01

Those of you with DSs, what winter coats have they got this year? Just received the Boden camouflage one for DS1 and not sure about it - may look better when DS1 tried it on. Now wished I had ordered the stars one as well to try but its has a 9 week waiting time!

Having a very virtious day - let someone go in front of me in the supermarket que, our expat Mums group made a meal for the families at the local Ronald McDonald house at the hospital (for families of v poorly children to stay in) - I made the apple crumble bit, and am about to pop and give one of the expat Mums (who has just had a baby and finding it a bit tough) a meal. Feel I have earnt some internet shopping this evening whilst DH is out Smile. (Does all that sound smug - sorry if so - I'm not smug in RL honest!)

LOL at your new managerial style aka Sue Notyummy.

Blossoming Congrats on your new role! I would love to wear a smart outfit every so often! Like those shoeboots - posted these on the shoeboot thread - love them but too high for me to even attempt to walk in!

Watched Eat Pray Love last night - didnt really enjoy it. Julia Roberts looked amazing and some of the shots of Rome and Bali were good but the rest of it was juts a bit blah and far too long.

A kid in DS1's class has head lice which means I have to go in every day next week and check heads .

traceybath · 16/09/2010 13:16

Well done on becoming a Governor Bloss.

OWW - I find the concept of head lice checking by a parent deeply horrid. Surely each parent should do their own child? Also if they've got dark hair you can only really see when the hair is wet.

I spray DS's hair each day with vosene tea-tree anti nit spray and put some gel on it to stop them. As I explained to DS1 its a battle and those are my weapons Wink

Hells where are you?

blossoming · 16/09/2010 13:28

That sounds like a grim job ollie. Also, nothing worse than sitting through a boring, long film!
traceybath, you did well with that M&S dress, all sold out now!

bunnymother, I know you're not looking anymore, but was this spanish red something like what you had in mind?

libra, are you based in London? And bunny. This invitation pinged into my inbox earlier here. It's an invitation by Il Tutto to go to their store in Westfield, get 20% off any bag, and get the chance to win a Mia.

Confession: amazon order arrived, with the Dukan book, and the Dukan recipe book enclosed.

rufus101 · 16/09/2010 13:33

Ooh! Get you Bloss - Govenor! Think of the outfits. You NEED those Russell and Bromley boots. They'll make every outfit work!
Like those NY thanks. Think I will wear "skinnies" on shoe/boot expedition to see if I can crack this look.

rufus101 · 16/09/2010 13:38

Oh yes, meant to say OWW, what a horrid job. O have already got the first notice of someone in class with headlice. Last year, both DD and DS1 got them. Took 3 months, 3 months to get rid. Combing and tea tree oil, toxic chemicals. I'd have tried voodoo in the end!

blossoming · 16/09/2010 13:38

rufus, dh says it's an 'honour'!
I'm planning a shoe/boot expedition, wearing skinnies this Saturday. Will report back avidly.

OllieWollieWoo · 16/09/2010 14:42

I agree re headlice checking - its the Dutch way tho so have to go along with it.... Normaly its just once a month and all the Mums take turns but if there is an outbreak, The Class Mothers (ie me) have to step in!

Traceybath - really like your M&S tunic - the same one in the blue colourway has been on my wish list for weeks but may now buy it! Would you wear yours with jeans or as dress? here.

DolceeBanana · 16/09/2010 15:33

Hi bloss - love the baby b haul! Really like those cords...have got the cardi already, and the pinafore and grey cord dress and two packs of the tights which I think are unbeatable! Lovely things...
Well done on being a Governor! Will be very satisfying....

OWW - Boden coat in indigo arrived today for DS - his school coat really and I like it! Got 5/6 although he's only little (4), and it fits okay.....

We use Vosene shampoo (supposedly head lice repellant), twice per week....fingers crossed...otherwise we use organic stuff...

DolceeBanana · 16/09/2010 15:37

Thanks ... I am now itching!!!!!

LetThemEatCake · 16/09/2010 17:29

afternoon ladies

not feeling particularly sparkly here today; as many of you will already know, my friends' little boy lost the fight yesterday, aged 3 weeks.

Fritzi when the jeans arrive, I will make a donation of their choice, hope that is okay with you.

OWW that is just vile, you poor thing. Shock

rufus I am a tall pear and actually think skinnies suit me better than other jeans shapes (but I could be totally wrong about that ... I used to think that I looked good in bootcut so I think it is just what you get used to!!) ... I wear mine with ballet flats, lace-up ankle boots (as seen in gilet photo) and tucked into knee-high boots.

I find wearing with ballet flats needs a longer top though, or proportions are all wrong and hips/ thighs look humungo.

my mum, from whom I have inherited my pikey bargainista gene fronted up yesterday with a faux fur gilet for me, plus a camel Zara sweater sim to the one linked to by NY but with bracelet sleeves and black pure cashmere sweater .. total cost £11. Grin

tracey those Clarks are great. Very sim to my New Look ones I think? I'd quite like a pair in light grey..

esher thanks for Ash wedge link ... I like them!

traceybath · 16/09/2010 17:42

LTEC so sorry about your friends' little boy Sad

Thinking of them and you.
