Hello all!

Cake - come back we neeeeeed you to tell us about your holiday....

Thanks libra. Great news re your colours. Is the b'day before or after the birth?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 15/09/2010 13:11

Birthday 27th Sept, baby being pulled out on 27th October. Hoping to find class before baby so need to get skates on!

Have bought IO cashmere scarf in olive so VERY much hoping olive is one of my colours, going to hold off on L&L red leapord scarf until I find out my colours.

TBH there is probably no big secret he will probably say buy suede proof protection stuff and read the instructions, but I leave all shoe maintenance stuff to him.

bunnymother · 15/09/2010 13:13

Well, my current sartorial drama is that the ASOS maternity range isn't as good this time 'round - the cowl neck dress (I got the black and the pink) isn't very stretchy so feels uncomfortable and the bump bands aren't very "high" so more like a belt. So back all that goes. The WC velour robe in dark blossom arrived yesterday and will ask DH what he thinks - am not convinced that its a great colour for me. I guess I could always get the white one. It certainly feels really nice and snug.

Oh gosh, all this boot talk - aren't great boots lush??

Esher - thanks for the handbag link! I have been to the Vanilla shop and unfort my heart sank seeing all those "inspired by Hermes" bags, so think I will look for something that is genuine in its own right IYKWIM. And thank you for the very generous offer of the nappy bag, but I decided to stick with the Boots one as DH's eyebrows flew up when I showed him the relatively understated red leather Kew bag and he pointed out that he needs to use it too. So I will keep looking out for a lush bag that's just for me!

Bloss - well done on the exercise front!! That's fantastic!! I can't wait to get back into my normal clothes (think will be an even longer, harder journey this time round) and to get rid of the maternity clothes. I do not like.

Cake - what a shame that beautiful creature you mention in your blog was only lovely on the outside. She shattered the illusion with her mean response.

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2010 14:05

Aw, thanks rufus Blush

that's interesting what you say about the moggle bunny. I don't think she was being mean at all. Just speaking with the matter-of-factness born of extreme youth & beauty in the face of extreme mediocrity! I kind of preferred to that to some kind of simpering self-deprecation. Anyway, she made me laugh. Oh to be so young and self-assured!

well done on the diet & exercise bloss. Jillian and I have parted ways of late as have been sucking up the last dregs of summer with late-evening runs but shorter nights may soon change that ...

sunny but coooooooooold here today. L/s american vintage tee under pink Marc Jacobs Quincy sweater with Primark skinnies and Bloch pumps. Mix it up, yo.

notyummy · 15/09/2010 14:15

Whilst the Brora looks nice, as redundancy looms, I may be purchasing these lace tights instead - buy one, get one half price as well!

Oh, and well done on the body transformation Blossoming. Just back from the gym myself. Minted pea and tuna salad for lunch...followed by a muffin!

Oh and LTEC - thanks god you were joking! I have just been on another thread robustly combating the view that anyone over 30 should not darken Top Shop's doors.....

Bleurgh! Had one of those days where constantly running onto the next appointment. Big highlight tho was a concert put on at DS1's school to celebrate its 55th bday - held in the playground, teacher told a story and each year group provided music and sound effects. DS1's year all wore yellow and did things like rub a balloon to make a frog sound, rattled bottles filled with sand for rain, shouted boom chigga boom and wiggled hips etc - all very cute. I felt really emotional watching it all - could never understand it when my Mum used to fill up at school concerts etc but now it all makes sense! Even the class teacher was welling up!

Notyummy - watched Glee and loved it! Thought Sue Slyvestor was hysterical - even DH smirked a few times before taking refuge behind laptop!

LTEC - thanks for pointing me in the direction of Alex Munroe site. Will bookmark for bday/xmas!

Off to see Eat Pray Love at the cinema this evening with my Book Club - not sure its my cup of tea but will watch anything for a tub of popcorn!

blossoming · 15/09/2010 17:37

These are the type of shoeboot that I love, but I need them in black. Back to R&B then, but hey, I tried!

traceybath · 15/09/2010 17:45

Whizzed into clarks earlier as needed to get ds2's feet measured and saw these which are lovely in the flesh.

Tried on and looked good with denim mini so am ordering them in my size.

NY - I got some new look tights and they are massive! So size down. Mine literally keep my chest warm which is a look granted Wink

Bloss - have you looked at M&S autograph for black shoe boots. I got some lovely black suede ones last year for about £45 and as they're strictly for going out in - not too bad.

notyummy · 15/09/2010 17:45

Blossoming - Love the shoots!! Too high for me though. The H and M wedge boots would be perfect if leather tbh. They are comfy, about 6/7cm high and easy to walk in. Just the pesky synthetic materials!! If I could find similar in leather I would be happy.

OWW - Another Gleek! Sue is great isn't she....I told my staff I was going to have a new management approach of 'what would Sue do?' I'm hoping they got the joke....!?

Well done on weight loss/ fitness etc Bloss

tracey I much prefer the clarks you've ordered to the ones that were linked to earlier.

Just been perusing the Comptoir site, some gorgeous things on there. Can't link but fab sshoes and coats and navy shirt - infact almost all of it. And the model with the long brown hair is just too gorgeous too. Need to get myself down to the shop Smile

Well, they are comfy and I walked all over Nottingham in them- plus they look pretty good. They nay not last forever, but you could get a lot of wear out of them this season.

I have the Brora tights , 2 pairs. Have had for 2 years and they are so soft and warm and lovely. Worth it.

Now, ladies. Brogues - yea or nay? I spotted a great pair at Oxford shoe institution ducker and son, who make a tiny range of ladies shoes.

Also this may be exposing deep inner naffness but I wear ballet flats with nude knee high nylons in cool weather thus solving part of the skinnies/leggings/cold problem. My sturdy Canadian upbringing means I rarely find it really cold here though

I am sitting with olive oil dripping out of my ear as I have such a bad blox

roary · 15/09/2010 22:05

iPhone gone mad. Blockage of wax because of ear plug addiction. I look totally hot.

Notyummy have the most divine dress to link for you once oiling is complete

Anyone watching the genius masterchef Oz?

Cake and anyone else looking for low heeled wedge booties, I have just ordered these from my wardrobe. am not 100% convinced by photos but mentor now all sold out in my size and they say no new stock coming Sad so this may be the next best thing.
If the sizing works for you, these were very nice too (but the 37 was too small and the 38 too big for me).

Saw mum at school in barbour international and it looked v nice indeed (although she is tall, slim, v pretty and would look good in anything tbh!!!).

Early night for me tonight as feeling done in this week.
Was going to do an ASOS shop but can't face it Shock

notyummy · 15/09/2010 22:34

Eie. - I bought some grey ribbed tights from next that have no gusset. I know we're in a recession but really???

I love all of the barbours, I really want one now!

Am going to sort out my winter wardrobe this weekend and identify gaps. There are definitely a few pieces from lastvyear that aren't as lovely as I hoped ( boden Henley dress springs to mind) so will eBay these off and restock with lovely alternatives.

roary · 15/09/2010 23:10

This is dress. So Joan holloway!

traceybath · 16/09/2010 08:04

Morning - have been up since before 6am and have got children ready and cleaned downstairs.

Am wearing new m&s purchase - this dress with new look pleather jacket - looks very nice.

I am so tempted by the brora tights but will wait for a discount code I think.

I like brogues - would quite like a black heeled pair.

notyummy · 16/09/2010 08:24

Morning all!

Roary - Thanks so much for the link! Dress is GORGEOUS - and yes I see Joan in it. I see it in the winter perhaps with grey opaques and grey shoes? I will add it to a lust list...and perhaps think about it nearer Christmas. After my recent splurges (everytime saying 'no more for a couple of months'..!) I must be strong.

EIE - Thanks for pointing out the flaw in my NL cheapy lace tights! You are right - lycra (particularly at my height) is essential. You have saved me from all sorts of 'gusset issues'.

Sunny here, but a bit chilly. Bare legged in wedges, but may have to crack out the opaques (or lace tights if I find them) for next week. Forecast to be 4 degrees round our way tonight. Policy in our house is usually 'no heating until October', but I am tempted! Wearing silver/grey Jigsaw skinny ribbed top and black Franska gathered skirt.

How is school going for the new starters? Zembo - and Dolcee - has your DS just started? DD is still enjoying it, and at the moment seems to have energy left at the end of the day by the time I get to Kids Club. Made a bit of an error last night, and we watched 10 minutes of 'Monster House' which was on Channel 5 Sunday afternoon. It is a kids film with good reviews so I thought I would Sky Plus it for her. I then went upstairs to run her bath and 2 mins later she came up having turned the TV off, saying it was too spooky to watch without me - although she wasn't distressed. Cue 2am this morning - weeping and wailing in terror on the loo. She had got up to go to the toilet but was too scared to go back to her bed 'in case the house GETS me'. This is first time we have ever had 'bad dreams' - I suppose it had to happen!

Have a good day all.
