Hello all!

Cake - come back we neeeeeed you to tell us about your holiday....

notyummy · 14/09/2010 18:12

Phew - so much to catch up on!

Just back from a lonnnng day running a Masterclass for Very Senior People on Outcome Based Accountability.

I know, sometimes I even bore myself.....

Thanks all for the kind words re DD and school. She is happy as larry once again tonight, despite the fact that today was even longer than usual because I didn't get home until about 10 minutes ago - mothers help collected her from nursery. The only reason I am not playing with her and am writing this is because she is playing hsopitals with her teddies and I have been forbidden form joining in!

Fritzi - Thanks so much for despatching the top. I will be making a donation to Great Ormond St Hospital as I think they do amazing work.

Good luck in the exam Vin!

I clicked on your link Cain - it was one I had seen before but you are right - it still gets you every time and I had a right giggle!

LTEC - Can't believe our spooky holiday similarity - you arrived on the day we left and were probably sitting at the same table where we had been!

List of things I have bought for winter:

Clog boots

Wedge boots (worn today and they are great)

Trench coat

Black maxi skirt

Long sleeved black maxi dress (much admired at work!)

Long sleeved animal print maxi (Not entirely sure if this is too Abigails Party or not. Will link for you all when H and H go online and you can tell me!!)

Long sleeved jersey tops in grey, and black and white stripes/hoops

Houlilikies

I would also like:

Couple of bright scarves (H and H had some great Lional and Lily lookalikes, folks!)

Big snuggly warm jumper

Jewel coloured (blue/green/purple) long sleeved top or blouse. (Something I could wear either to work or out inevening with jeans. Ideally silk.)

Mad men/Prada style dress or skirt. (Not sure I really need this, or where I would wear it....but I WANT it!)

Lace tights in black and grey (yes, I nicked this idea from LTEC!)

Not bothering with anything camel, and need no more coats.

Will be back later - and will try and read the blog as well!

PS: Was studying M and S windows and agree that the stuff looks nice....however can rarely find the stuff I see in windows or magazines when I go in shop!

LTEC - keep meaning to ask you (if its not too rude) where you got the lovely dragonfly (?) necklace you have on in your holiday pics? Its gorgeous - the ones I have found online in the past all seem very big and yours is just the right size. Think it would be a lovely present for friends 40th b-day too (can justify purchase with the 'one for me and one for someone else' karma thing no?).

mrsjuan · 14/09/2010 18:53

Oh wow fritzi - thank you! I'll email you my address in a bit. Can I at least cover the postage for you? And I'll do a donation to SANDS if that's ok?

Talking of m&s I debuted my new top with black leggings and my new(ish) ankle boots at work today. Great success - top & boots widely admired and coveted! Made me realise how dull my usual work clothes must be Confused

OllieWollieWoo · 14/09/2010 19:03

Glee starts on Dutch TV tonight - is it worth watching for am I way over target audience range???!

notyummy · 14/09/2010 19:09

OWW - I loved Glee and am 38!! (So did DH, although he readily admits to being in touch with his 'pink side', as he calls it. Grin)

employmentlawquery · 14/09/2010 19:23

Evening ladies! Can I ask what you think of these please?

notyummy · 14/09/2010 19:39

Hi employment law!

Mostly, I like. I am still not convinced of the practicality of sheerling in footwear - but thats probably just me and my amazing ability to attract dirt. Others can probably pull it off!

Like the colour, height and style though.

OP posts:
bunnymother · 14/09/2010 19:49

Hi employmentlaw - not keen on the boots - a bit to J-Lo in her Jenny from the Block phase, but I am v old fashioned when it comes to shoes.

Which is why I quite like the Hobbs ones Bloss - thanks for the suggestion! If only they had a touch of the heel to lift them out of the "workman" look.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/09/2010 19:56

employ sorry but I have to agree. There is something a bit odd about these boots. If you want shearling, I would prefer these in tan or black. Monkeysmama found them last week. I know they don't have a heel.

bunnymother · 14/09/2010 20:05

Oh and Cake, am v v envious of your charity shopping! The ones here are a rip off - local Oxfam was asking £20 for a cashmere / silk cardi. By Zara - isn't that what you would get it for in the sale??!! Doesn't mean I don't still go in, though. Fool that I am.

LetThemEatCake · 14/09/2010 20:46

employment, hello! I don't mind those boots but deffo prefer the KG ones.

OWW not a rude question at all! it is this Alex Monroe one in silver, was an anniversary present from dh. I love love love it, rarely take it off. Thank you for noticing it! Smile

NY that is so funny. We didn't rate that restaurant at all, definitely just a place for the views rather than the food, what did you think?

notyummy · 14/09/2010 20:56

Agree, we have only ever eaten there once in our 3 visits because of grumpy staff and distinctly ordinary food. There is a wine bar right at the other end of the main street that does delicious 'tapas' (whatever the Italian is for that!)

TwasEverThus · 14/09/2010 21:00

I have these, Employment, and they are mega-comfy.

store.thegoldenboot.co.uk/store/product/310698/Manas-Prague-ladies-fleece-lined-chunky-ankle-boots-in-grey,-size-36/

LetThemEatCake · 14/09/2010 21:07

ooh I like those TwasEver

FritziGreenEyes · 14/09/2010 21:18

I like this messenger bag. Also available in black textured leather. Opinions?

eshermummy · 14/09/2010 21:21

Employment - am not keen on the boots you linked to but I like TwasEver's suggestion.

Thanks to those of you that have given me lists of what you have bought. Am a bit Envy of those of you who have scored some wedge ankle boots though as am still struggling to find some that meet my requirements (main requirement= not too high, 8-9 cm absolute maximum)

I am also liking the sound of LTEC's wool shorts although she has the legs for them and I don't. LTEC are you thinking with kneehigh boots or ankle?

Bunny - I saw this and thought of you Smile. Also, did you ever solve the babybag quandary. I have a nice (but v v girly) Oilily change bag in a red floral that is hardly used. Yours if you want it. I can't find it online anymore (3 years ago now!) but is sort of a bit like this one. It has bag clips so clips onto buggy handle. I had a red P&T and it looked good.

NY - jewel coloured silk sounds lovely.
I have lace tights practically every winter Blush as I love them but am also thinking of a bigger lace item this year. What do we think of this dress?

eshermummy · 14/09/2010 21:25

Fritzi - not much taken with the bag I'm afraid.

Meant to say - shearling boots - these are ver nice no?

LetThemEatCake · 14/09/2010 21:26

Fritzi I like it!

esher that dress is nice but maybe a bit shapeless for you? you are so petite that you could afford to go more body con, I think?

re: shorts I have a pair of short Mango ones in a brown/ black tweed that I wear with knee-high boots but these new Boden ones are knee length and will be worn with either Bloch flats, patent ankle boots or the elusive ankle wedges. My requirements sim to yours, height-wise, prob actuallly more like 5-6cm, really.

notyummy · 14/09/2010 21:34

Fritzi- Liking the messenger bag.

Esher- Think that dress could look stunning. I am a bit wary of lace dresses due to a dodgy goth spell in the past..... But those are my issues, not yours!

OP posts:
notyummy · 14/09/2010 21:41

Just looking at pics of Gemma Arterton. Sooo pretty. Dh has a crush!

OP posts:
eshermummy · 14/09/2010 21:54

LTEC - I think you might be right re shapelessness - I like it best in the belted shots.
I also really like this but a bit too £££.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/09/2010 22:05

grey or black?
