Hello all!

Cake - come back we neeeeeed you to tell us about your holiday....

OP posts:
Zembo · 11/09/2010 06:55

Morning ladies!

I had the most lovely but unconventional Eid. We usually go to my mums and celebrate there with my huge family. This year there was some confusion re: dates as we started Ramadan on different days so we ended up staying at home, although I think most people (incl my family) in the UK celebrated yesterday.

I took my DS swimming in the morning (as had a bit of spare time whilst waiting for my DH to return from the mosque) so I had swimming hair and looked a bit dishevelled for the rest of the day Grin. We then took the DC for lunch at Pizza Express - they love it there. In the evening we had pilau rice, chicken, samosas, kebabs, gulab jamun, burfi etc etc. Felt a bit sick at times Smile

Anyway, to conclude the post all about me, I had THE MOST AMAZIMG PRESENT FROM DH - HE'S AGREED WE CAN TTC DC NO.3!!!!!!!!!!! I cried with joy. This has been a long time coming and I'm a bit of an old bird so may take a while, but this is the most fantastic news for me. Can't share this with anyone in real life so lovely to be able to post it here. Wish me luck ladies Grin. I'm on the case already of course Grin Grin

traceybath · 11/09/2010 07:19

Oh Zembo I am sooooo pleased for you Grin

Esher - hope things are ok for you now.

DS1 back at school and already in trouble for 'play fighting' - honestly he is such a monkey. So stern words have been had and no treats this weekend which is very dull for everyone.

Oh I keep meaning to recommend the mountain gorilla documentaries on bbc iplayer - absolutley brilliant although very sad in places.

bunnymother · 11/09/2010 08:32

Oh Zembo, congratulations!!! Am thrilled for you!

OllieWollieWoo · 11/09/2010 08:36

Zembo - what lovely news. Very happy for you esp you've mentioned on here how much it would mean for you to have No 3. Wishing you lots of luck and fingers crossed it won't take too long! Yey for Mr Zembo!

Bit bleary eyed this morning - dinner with Mums from school was lovely but got home at 1.30am! The Mum who hosted had just moved house and had had the whole house extended/re-designed/painted - it was amazing - I had house envy! Am inspired to start nagging talking to DH about a new floor in our kitchen and hallway.

Nursery summer party today and thankfully the sun is shining. What to wear.........?

blossoming · 11/09/2010 09:55

That is such great news zembo. What a lovely present. Men can take a while to come round can 't they? Good fir you and have fun!!

Sorry to hear of your lack of treats weekend traceybath. The only way though. You'll have to have your own treats after they've gone to bed!

ollie, have a nice cup of tea! And a great party.

monkeysmama, have a lovely holiday.

bunnymother, hope your tlc works. My dh muttered something about missing targets this morning and he was only talking about being first in the queue for the barbers at 9!!

Have a great day everyone. One question, should I go to toy story 3 or send dh?

Thanks everything!

mrsjuan · 11/09/2010 19:32

Hi,
quiet round here today - does that mean everyone is busy living exciting lives??

Welcome back cake - fb photos are fab - looks like you had a lovely time with your family - you are all so beautiful!

Zembo - wow! how exciting, so pleased for you -best of luck & enjoy trying Wink hope you had / are having a lovely Eid - what a feast -yum Grin

mm - fantastic news about your dad - hope you enjoy your holiday.

marsha - I am also struggling wrt footwear. I have these in black which I love but I still haven't managed to embrace the skinny jean so I can only wear them with skirts / dresses as they look stupid under jeans.

Tracey - I love those gorillas Smile. Meant to say thank you for dress recommendation the other day - good length but yes - too much animal print for me. I think the last time I wore animal print was in 1996 when I had a little leopard print crop top from Topshop - I was 16 so could get away with it!

Bought this today - It is lovely and comfy and I thought it would be great for everyday with leggings.

Zembo · 11/09/2010 19:33

Bloss my DD and DH are at the cinema watching toy story 3 right now! Also I ordered the Cameron, half expecting it to be too big though. I really need a warm slightly longer length coat. Don't want to be limited by the weather Smile Tracey i can imagine the minx looks aamazing on you. I'm a bit pearish in shape (albeit a small pear) so short jackets are not that great on me.

MM have a great holiday

OWW hope you enjoyed the party

Carciofi I've probably missed you, but NICE - how fab! enjoy.

Notyummy your friend sounds lovely, as must you be to have such a friend. I aspire to be organised enough to reach that gold standard of friend gesture.

Marsha here's a pic of Trinny wearing boots similar to those DKNY ones you linked to I think they look great, but personally don't get on with suede.

bunnymother · 11/09/2010 21:00

Notyummy - what a touching gesture your friend made - she is worth her weight in gold. My bf in Australia is like that - sends DD the most wonderful Australian books wrapped in the most superb paper w trimmings. She is a darling.

Zembo - been happy for you all day thinking of how joyful you felt at your DH agreeing to TTC DC3.

Bloss - DH came home at 2am "3 sheets to the wind", I looked after DD all morning, then babysitter came and we spent afternoon w DH's friend from Australia and THEN I cooked us all DH's meal of choice. I am hoping that the alarm clock incident is behind us as, frankly, I have nothing left!

For those looking for DH friendly yet easy to make meal: M&S are doing herby lamb leg steaks, which are great w their herbed new potatoes and a side salad (leaves, goats cheese, tomato, fresh corn). Far nicer than the meatballs w spaghetti that DH usually requests.

notyummy · 11/09/2010 21:10

I LOVED Toy Story 3!!

Zembo - what marvellous news and what an amazing Eid present.

Loving all the boots links!

It is quiet, isn't it? I am trying to have family time as DH is rarely around at the moment, but I will be back in the W and A mode when he's gone again tomorrow night!

LetThemEatCake · 11/09/2010 21:45

Zembo what marvellous news!!! am so thrilled for you.

Right, that's 2 pieces of good news - there's bound to be a 3rd. Anyone?

thanks for kind holiday comments and for warm welcome back.

Lovely to see eie and her lovely ds yest. I must hasten to add that my dd is not totally new to seeing people eat cake Grin and that I ate plenty of ice cream on hols!!

have made a few purchases since back, all bargainous. A charity shop sale unearthed a pair of Boden wool city shorts for £3, which I will wear with lace tights. And a Question Air (the place where I scored the Tibi hummingbird maxi) one-day sale today got me some Rutzou wool trousers for work stuff - skinny cut, military-style covered button detail up the outside ankles, £30 from £175 plus some Genetic Denim indigo skinnies, £40 down from £160. Felt very pleased as have played Fashion Fairy a bit this week (friend is wearing my Lanvin dress to a party as we speak!!) so thought it was my Klothing Karma Grin

Still need a coat but think I will forget fashion and go vintage (read - cheapo 2nd hand) as it's my last winter and there's loads of cute stuff out there. Oh, and faux fur gilet got its first outing (dinner) last night.

Me me me... boring. How is everyone else?

blossoming · 11/09/2010 22:23

Three sheets to the wind at the golf club. Love you all so much.
Oops, smoking too.

RedBlueRed · 11/09/2010 22:51

Warning: totally non W&A but you all have got to watch this! It had me in tears.

Its proper contagious laughter.

bunnymother · 12/09/2010 09:10

Yay Bloss!!! Hope you had a FANTASTIC night!!

blossoming · 12/09/2010 10:24

Morning ladies. I had a great night, got slightly tipsy, danced like a loon, stayed out much too late!! Dh worried and annoyed at me.
Wore jbrand skinnies, lkb platforms, silk blouse and black blazer. Stashed in my car for the walk home I had my white north face jacket, sport ballets and a torch! So rural up there and dark and wet.
I now have this (hopefully) irrational fear that I didn't lock the car so bracing myself for more annoyed dh this afternoon when he goes to fetch it. Let's face it I'm not sure I'd be fit to drive till the end of next week!
Dh has taken dc1 to Sunday school and dd for a walk so I'm left cooking up a roast lamb dinner. Better make a good job of it..

bunnymother · 12/09/2010 11:08

So glad you had such a fun time, Bloss! You deserve it!! Am afraid to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY in case I got the days wrong!

vinvinoveritas · 12/09/2010 12:19

Glad you had a great night out bloss! Sounds like you looked fantastic

ltec what klothing karma you have- I have just sent friend lots of old marc jacobs tops and some excellent but big coats (still trying to declutter as part of my 'admin') so I too shall await some karma

well my exams commence tomorrow (LLM not quite sure why I am bothering, they are 4 hours long each- waaaah) and I have given up and decided to say hello!

I too have a winter shoe conundrum. I like skinny jeans but have no idea what to wear them with, have some flat black knee highs and same with brown and have some high heeled boots but not quitr suer that works on me as I look a bit like I've tried too hard.

Am so grateful for that code carciofi, I wanted to get a friend this scarf earlier in the year (she is Canadian and obsessed with London for no apparent reason) then they sold out so I shall get it now!

zembo so pleased for you re your news that's fantastic!!

& everything, I knew cakey was deceiving us all!! Grin

esher hope you are okay

monkeysmama have a lovely holiday some nudies on coggles, maybe could replace your blue ones

OK well I had better go and do something useful, DS is quiet so had better not start wasting cramming time internet shopping !! (oh so very tempting)

Will be back post exams- bye!

hf128219 · 12/09/2010 14:25

bloss you are ever so naughty!!

I am knackered after our Ball last night - 3 hours sleep and then catering for our guests this morning. All is quiet now and dd is asleep in her pram. DH has just got up!

Zembo What wonderful news!

VerityBrulee · 12/09/2010 15:43

First of all Zembo Grin What fantastic news, I remember you saying ages ago you were trying to persuade your dh. So happy for you.

Bloss and hf sounds like you both had great Saturday nights Smile

Vino Good luck with your exams, I think you are fab, keeping going despite your P, you deserve a large carrot cake! I love that scarf, it's on my Christmas list, but I should really get it now with the discount I think.

Tracey thanks so much for the jacket link, I had been scouring the net. I ordered it, but I will send it back if I don't totally LOVE it. I just need to get my hands on it to get the obsession out of my system IYKWIM!

EIE sounds like a lovely trip, would love a day in London, esp to meet Cake and her lovely brood.

I had a lovely shopping trip with ds2, he's got style Grin He chose a really cool Barbouresque waxed jacket with detachable furry lining and a great floral shirt (his dad likes them too). I got this from Zara, I'm a total sucker for anything nautical.

Those of you with girls, I love gorgeous new season dresses are out. DD has a few from last season, I buy them long so she gets 2 years out of them. They are all lovely so hard to pick 2 for this winter.

Spent the morning decluttering the kitchen, now taking a break from rearranging the sittingroom furniture, MNing and watching the Sept Issue Smile

Bonsoir · 12/09/2010 18:55

When are you coming to Paris, Verity?

Zembo · 12/09/2010 19:50

Aaww thanks ladies, aren't you lot lovely! I feel a bit Blush about my little announcement, looking forward to having something proper to announce Grin

Verity your nautical top is v cute.

Bloss sounds like you had a pre-child-like night, good for you!

Cake great to have you back. You look so lovely and slim in your holiday photos. All your efforts are well worth it.

monkeysmama · 12/09/2010 20:48

Hey ladies

Just checking in before an early night. Got to be up at 2 to fly off on our hols Grin.

Firstly a big thank you to all of you for the lovely positive vibes about my dad. I am going to enjoy my holiday even more now and I can start to relax in a way I haven't for what feels like so long now.

Esher thank you very much for the post about Sani. I really appreciate it.

Went to that funny wedding last night. Dp convinced me that it was going to be a disco-y party wedding despite the age of the bride and groom and to wear my Tracey animal print number. So I did, with dark gold kind of perforated shoe boots. I was pretty overdressed again Blush Grin. I was a bit surprised by the number of women in black (probably 1/2 of those there) and though some of the outfits were pretty I was the only one flashing any flesh. Lots and lots of boring floral maxis though and a lot of Coast. I knew from the moment we got in the cab I wanted to be in the silver dress but hey ho. I like it when dp says nice things about my clothes so I wanted to encourage it. That Wonderbra I recommended a while back sure is good - I did an hour's worth of running man and other 90s dance moves with dp and it stayed in place. Ha ha. The wedding was very odd but we had fun together. I hate leaving dd mama emotiocon at night and so need to feel our time away from her is worth it & that we make the most of it iyswim.

TMI alert but I have to share this and can't in rl as I am too Blush. Had a massive embarrassment when we got home at about 1. Pil had texted at 11 to say they were in bed so assumed they were fast off. Dp wanted to show me how much he appreciated my dress Wink. Mil hadn't heard us come in so thought the baby had woken up and walked in on us. Blush Shock Now I have shared I am going to omit the memory from my mind forever. Poor woman. I am pretty liberated about these things but she is not & I fear we may've scarred her for life.

Packing all done. Over on the weight again so dp is currently trying to take things out and rearrange them. He keeps calling out to ask if I really need to take shampoo and shower gel. I foresee our usual long angry wait in the excess luggage payment queue.

Vino thanks for the Coggles link. I ordered a pair from there last week and their service was great. I am watching a pair of Super Slim Kims on eBay but think they might be a bit tight.

Right, off to have a shower and bed. Have a happy and serene 2 weeks bellissime and of course happy shopping.

traceybath · 12/09/2010 20:53

MM - how hilarious Grin That happened to a friend of mine and she said the worse thing was that her knickers were hanging off one ankle. It was never ever discussed Grin

Have a lovely lovely holiday.

On the tmi front - does anyone take cerazette mini-pill - I'm on it but don't think its suiting me. I thought it was meant to stop periods but the opposite seems to be true.

Verity - really hope you like the jacket.

So funny about getting obsessed with stuff - I was sort of toying over a faux fur gilet on m&s and thought today - oh I'll give it a punt and its now out of stock. How much more do I now want it Grin I am a marketer's dream I tell you.

notyummy · 12/09/2010 20:55

Oh mm am giggling sympathetically at your inadvertant sex show for MIK.

Grin
