It was Fat Willy's, you muppet

SixtyFootDoll · 05/08/2010 16:13

Ooh I hope I get to see some Big Willy's in Cornwall!!

AnyFucker · 05/08/2010 16:14

bloody hell, some people can even lower the tone of a holiday thread

moragbellingham · 05/08/2010 16:15

We went to Carlyon Bay in the pouring rain for something to do.
It had lots of JCBs etc on it (but that was early June).

cravingcroissants · 05/08/2010 16:22

Sixtyfootdoll - we just got back from a week camping in Mevagissey on Saturday and the weather was lovely while we were there. Spent 3 days on the beach and even got a bit of a tan. There was occasional rain towards the end of the week but weather is still warm. We were sad to come home and wished we could have stayed for 2 weeks.

SixtyFootDoll · 05/08/2010 16:24

ooh oooh, thanks for that Cc, the weather reports are looking good so far, so fingers crossed.
WE only have a week thats all we could get as it was booked up everywhere!

moragbellingham · 05/08/2010 16:25

I would stop off for food essentials at ASDA on the outskirts of St Austell before you get to Mevigissey.
That's where I bought my emergency
socks, jogging bottoms and wellies from. It's got good buckets, spades and beach stuff for children too.

SixtyFootDoll · 05/08/2010 16:27

Thanks for that Morag , am not planning on taking much food with me as it wont fit in the car, so was wondering where the neares big supermarket was.

moragbellingham · 05/08/2010 17:02

There's a Tesco in St Austell which is also on the outer ring road thingy and has a great fish and chip shop opposite!

MovingBeds · 05/08/2010 17:29

rofl @ it being fat willys

AnyFucker · 05/08/2010 18:15

my kids have Fat Willy's t-shirts

pooka · 05/08/2010 18:43

There's a hill called brown willy on bodmin moor.

Always makes me snigger in a puerile way.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/08/2010 18:46

too at brown willy! God, I think it's being off with the kids that's doing it.

tulpe · 05/08/2010 19:30

We are off to West Somerset & North Devon in 2 weeks.

Tell me, are the rules regarding clothing and scones the same there?

Should I be mindful of not packing anything I own with either a Boden or Joules label in?

thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 05/08/2010 19:49

School holiday weather in Cornwall is notoriously crap. The summer before last there were 3 rain-free days (believe me, I counted) in our area all holiday. If you have preschoolers, I'd definitely come in June or September instead. Failing that, bring layers and waterproofs - it's not cold, just changeable.

And Boden and Joules would be very appropriate for Cornwall, especially for St Mawes or Padstow!!

elliemental · 05/08/2010 19:52

we went last week - very warm, but a tad grey. One mizzly day. Took waterproofs, didn't need them except for 10 mins.

I lived mostly in my wetsuit.....

I did have to buy a wierdfish 'fleece' in tintagel though as I forgot to pack any jackety coat at all. Was in the sale and I have exceeded pay per wear target nicely after 10 days

eatyourveg · 05/08/2010 19:57

we're going to Port Isaac saturday. Does that involve the A30 Redruth bit mentioned?

MrsC2010 · 05/08/2010 20:05

Oh I'm so jealous of you all, not going on hols this year as am sat waiting for DC1 to make her late appearance!

elliemental · 05/08/2010 20:15

take LOTS of towels as it was so humid and damp overnight we were 1/4 mile inland from coast, nothing dried overnight on washing line.

notsleepingthrough · 06/08/2010 08:42

you're not selling it much!

maybe we should go elsewhere

SixtyFootDoll · 06/08/2010 11:02

The long term weather forecast, looks OK (ish).
My fingers are aching from keeping them crossed.

JaMmRocks · 06/08/2010 12:12

eatyourveg - no, you'll be ok!
