Is anybody doing it this year. I recently had a baby, I stopped all together. Very proud of myself however I started a few months after DS was born. I’m currently having 5-6 cigarettes a day. Desperately want to stop. So is anybody doing it this year?

Thank you Little same to you too. How many days is it for you now?

Hi Simon I was just looking at buying a vape kit but have decided not to. I am seriously missing the action and the throat hit of smoking but it's getting easier. Well done for getting to day 12.

I almost smoked about an hour ago. When my dad passed away, I collected his belongings and amongst them is an unopened pouch of baccy. I didn't do it. Instead I decided to look up images of smokers lungs...

Chippydippy · 12/10/2019 19:02

Leah I haven't yet been around anyone that smokes, purposely. I'm waiting for the worst of the temptation to die down a bit. I don't have a great record on that score

Killerqueen9 · 13/10/2019 09:20

Well done everyone sounds like you are all still doing great Smile

@LeahSMS me and baba are doing great thank you! Been back at work this week after holidays so has been a good distraction! Cravings have died down again, just around once a day now I really want a smoke but then it passes again. Just need to keep busy to stop thinking about it! How are you getting on?

Littlechocola · 13/10/2019 14:34

@SimonJT well done! It’s not cheating if it is helping you. Can I ask why you came of antidepressants in preparation?

@Chippydippy sorry about your dad. Well done for not smoking! It’s 13 days now!

SimonJT · 13/10/2019 16:01

I knew I would have to up my dose and it takes a few weeks for an increase to have an effect.

Littlechocola · 13/10/2019 16:24

Ahh sorry I read it wrongly! I read that you stopped them! Sorry.
Good idea. How are you feeling?

SimonJT · 13/10/2019 16:26

Haha I’d be locked up in a straight jacket if I stopped!!!

Feeling fairly shite! Haven’t murdered my son yet, but there’s plenty of time for that Grin

Littlechocola · 13/10/2019 16:46

Grin well 13 days without murder is good going!

The doctors suggested increasing mine a while ago (for anxiety) but I declined. I nearly tore the doctors door down last week as I was so weepy. I honestly don’t know if it was what was happening in life, tiredness, stopping smoking, anxiety worsening or all of the above! I feel better now but also realised that I need to change my routine.

blartysartfast · 13/10/2019 23:26

Just a quick word to those are are vaping low nicotine thinking that's a good thing. Smoking cessation experts have concluded that the failure of traditional nrt solutions is partly due to using not enough nicotine. Nicotine on it's own isn't addictive or harmful so don't suffer using low nicotine, go 18mg if that keeps the cravings at bay. At the end of the day it's not nicotine that kills, it's the smoke.

Chippydippy · 14/10/2019 09:46

@blartysartfast Yes you're right that it's not the nicotine that kills but nicotine on its own is extremely addictive.

LeahSMS · 14/10/2019 11:50

@Chippydippy don’t be jealous of my cig it really wasn’t that good Grin I just felt guilty after ha!

How is everyone doing ?

@blartysartfast that’s so good to know I was struggling for days on 6mg I am now on 12mg I don’t feel like murdering towns full of people now Grin

Littlechocola · 15/10/2019 07:51

2 weeks yesterday and feeling good!
Apart from a cold which I think would feel worse if I was a smoker!

Choclips · 15/10/2019 17:41

Littlechocola Well done you ! You said you normally get to three weeks and 'try one'. Don't do this! As you read, if only takes the one- that's what it's designed to do. You've read the book ( it is amazing) and you've only gone and cracked it !

To all others, read the book x

blartysartfast · 16/10/2019 00:43

Chippydippy Sorry there's no evidence whatsoever nicotine out-with combustible tobacco is addictive. Nicotine isn't the enemy, smoke is.

Ifonlyfor1day · 16/10/2019 00:53

I am late to the thread but eager to join. I need the inspiration from pp's.
I am a shameful dirty addicted smoker. I need help to quit.

Littlechocola · 16/10/2019 19:26

@Choclips thank you! I won’t! Maybe I will reread the chapter on just one again! Grin

@Ifonlyfor1day do you want to stop? I would definitely recommend easyway by Allen Carr.

How’s everyone getting on?

PhilomenaCatLover · 18/10/2019 00:44

Can I join in too? I’ve been smoking in secret for a while and really want to quit.

Littlechocola · 19/10/2019 11:28

Hi @PhilomenaCatLover (adore your name!)
What are you going to use to quit?

LeahSMS · 19/10/2019 14:35

Hi @Ifonlyfor1day & @PhilomenaCatLover welco e to the thread. How are you both doing?

How is everyone doing? I’ve not had a cig for a while now I’m going to see a friend soon dreading it as he smokes like a chimney wish me luck 🤞x

Littlechocola · 21/10/2019 19:50

@LeahSMS good luck! Remember that you don’t want to be a chimney!

Chippydippy · 27/10/2019 13:16

Hi all. Haven't posted for a little while as had some stuff going on but thought I'd check in. I'm still smoke free, think I'm day 23 now! Still using nicotine replacement and still having urges now and again but no where near as much as before.

How is everyone doing?

PoootiePie · 23/11/2019 19:35

Read this whole post and am dying to know how you are all doing. I've been using patches to cut down. Smoked 20 a day and now average between 4 and 7 a day for the past 8 weeks, Getting there slowly.
