Is anybody doing it this year. I recently had a baby, I stopped all together. Very proud of myself however I started a few months after DS was born. I’m currently having 5-6 cigarettes a day. Desperately want to stop. So is anybody doing it this year?

I've never done it but your post caught my eye. I was always a 10 a day smoker, had a break of about 4 years during which I vaped. Started again a couple of years ago and got back to 10 day but over the last two months I've gone up to 30! It has been a terrible year, my mood is really low and now my relationship is ending. I'm sitting outside chain smoking and crying right now trying to distract myself with mn.

BooLooBoo · 17/09/2019 22:14

Congratulations on your baby btw. If we do this can we keep this thread as a bit of a support thread? I'll need all the help I can get.

Littlechocola · 17/09/2019 22:17

Me please!

SciFiGirl · 17/09/2019 22:18

Yes, absolutely! I think we should post on here every day through October. Tell each other what we would have had & what we did have. It’ll be motivating & supportive. If we do crack and have a few it doesn’t matter as we are trying & will get there in the end. I’m sorry to hear about your break up, I hope your okay @boolooboo

doyoueverfeellikea · 17/09/2019 22:24

Me please. I've just order some free trial things from Nordic spirit as I don't qualify for free patches. Is anyone thinking of using any help if so what? And are they free? Grin

SciFiGirl · 17/09/2019 22:27

I’m not sure what I’m going to do I’d like to go cold turkey but it’s going to be hard I’m thinking of cutting down throughout the month so when we get to the end I’ll be smoke free. But whatever you need to help you, go for it. I heard patches are good & sprays too x

OP posts:
SciFiGirl · 17/09/2019 22:28

@doyoueverfeellikea see above x

I have been to the smoking clinics and I was told I'm addicted to the routine not the smoking iyswim? So anything to distract me is the angle I'm going with. What do you smoke now? How will you cut down? Ration them out for the days/months?

doyoueverfeellikea · 17/09/2019 22:32

Must have missed that part sorry! Hopefully my concentration will improve with not smoking also

SciFiGirl · 17/09/2019 22:33

I smile about 5-7 a day I’ve only recently started & want to nip it in the bud before I get back to 30 a day I think the first few days I’m going to try to have 4 then cut it down to 3 then a few days later 2 so hopefully 2 weeks in I’ll be smoke free x

I hope you don't mind me posting, I gave up just before the smoking ban was introduced.
I was on 20 a day for too many years Blush
I gave up by reading Allen Carr. You can borrow it from the library.
As a smoker if anyone had said read this book and you will stop smoking I would have laughed
Good luck to all of you x

SciFiGirl · 17/09/2019 22:35

Thank you @redshoeblueshoe everyone can post smokers or non smokers. We all will need some supportive words. I have heard about it. I might give it a go x

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/09/2019 22:39

SciFiGirl · 17/09/2019 22:42

Grin @blueshoeredshoe she’s 63 I’m 28 & I’m smoking in secret she’d Clout me if she found out I’d gone back to smoking

OP posts:
Redshoeblueshoe · 17/09/2019 22:54

Ha she's a little bit older than me, obviously she missed that clouting is no longer acceptable !
But there was a smoking room on the maternity unit when I had mine Grin that's 31 year's ago

Mumofjustboys · 18/09/2019 16:02

I'll join in! I set today as my quit day so im slightly ahead of the game. I tried cutting down but all that did was make me smoke more because i was constantly thinking about how many i had left for thw day and when i would smokee them and that stressed me to the point where i went up from about 7 a day to nearly 20! Im using lozenges (only about £3 in b&m just now) but im not following their recommend dose, it seems far too much, Im just having a lozenge when i feel the need

RedButBlueButBlack · 18/09/2019 17:25

@Mumofjustboys that’s what I’m going to try to do but I have worried about that. I’ll see how I get on but the best way to go might be cold turkey. I’ll post on here a day before Stoptober starts to see if everyone is ready & everyone can post daily or whenever they want x

Littlechocola · 29/09/2019 14:32

2 days to go!

Nameisthegame · 30/09/2019 13:26

Errrgh I’m. Trying to quit today not buying any fags but had two butt fags 🤮 feeling disgusting I’m in a horrible mood proper nasty. No idea how I’ll do it.

LeahSMS · 30/09/2019 21:21

LeahSMS · 30/09/2019 21:26

Just to catch up, I’m currently having around 6 a day. Tomorrow I will be trying 4 I might try the Nicolette spray as I used to Vape & went crazy on it Grin

Littlechocola · 01/10/2019 07:10

I’m in! Finished reading Allen Carr last night (good timing) and smoked my final cigarette as I read it.

A bit confused this morning when taking the dog out as would normally roll a cigarette. It’s nice to not!

How’s everyone else feeling?

LeahSMS · 01/10/2019 09:34

@Littlechocola how are you doing? Was the Allen car book good?
