Is anybody doing it this year. I recently had a baby, I stopped all together. Very proud of myself however I started a few months after DS was born. I’m currently having 5-6 cigarettes a day. Desperately want to stop. So is anybody doing it this year?

I don’t feel too awful (verging on good). Probably helps that I’m busy today.

Book was good, boring and repetitive but makes so much sense!

How about you?

LeahSMS · 01/10/2019 19:08

@littlechocola
Not so good I’ve managed to cut down but it’s been a bad day. I think I’m going to get a vape & have the lowest nicotine & just stop cigarettes all together tomorrow. Have have you done today?

Littlechocola · 01/10/2019 19:25

Well done for cutting down! Why has it been a bad day?

I’ve not smoked and I’m just getting slightly sulky feeling although I think I would feel like that with or without nicotine today!

LeahSMS · 01/10/2019 20:01

I thought I’d cope a little better than I did. I’ve been pretty ratty all day 🤣 the weather hasn’t helped as I usually going walking with baby for a few hours a day to get out of the house but I wasn’t able to be out too long today as it’s been chucking it down today.

Well done for not having any you’ve done so well 🤞 for tomorrow but you’ve done the hardest bit now x

Littlechocola · 01/10/2019 20:17

I wonder if you would have felt ratty anyway because of the weather?

Dh isn’t too supportive. I suppose he’s seen me try a few times.

LeahSMS · 01/10/2019 22:21

@Littlechocola yes your right. I usually feel ratty because of sitting in the house or not having as much freedom. It drives me mad my baby is only 5 months so he gets ratty quickly so life is easier when we are out of the house

My DP is the same 😕 he’s agreed to me going back to vaping but only low nicotine or low nicotine

I’m so happy your doing so well is this the furthest you’ve come with quitting?

Littlechocola · 02/10/2019 07:06

@LeahSMS no, I have managed a few weeks at a time and stopped while pregnant for over a year each time but always went back to it.
Last time I tried hypnosis and it was amazing but stupidly I thought I could have just one. Straight back to smoking!

I coughed lots in the night last night and dreamt I was smoking. I guess that’s junk coming out and my mind tricking me. Woken with no cravings though!

Littlechocola · 03/10/2019 07:23

@LeahSMS how are you getting on?

LeahSMS · 03/10/2019 20:40

Hey @Littlechocola I’m doing good. I went back to vaping 6mg. I only use it when I really need it. I’ve not had a cigarette today despite really craving one around 6pm. How are you doing?

Littlechocola · 03/10/2019 22:15

Well done! That’s amazing!

Still no cigarette here! I’ve had a couple of mild cravings but nothing awful. I think some of it is habit. Coming out of the cinema and lighting up, getting in from work and taking a cup of tea and cigarette to the garden. Then I think that having to smoke didn’t make anything better, it did nothing.

LeahSMS · 04/10/2019 09:07

@Littlechocola hey how are you getting on?

Littlechocola · 04/10/2019 18:14

Struggling today. Quite a hard/emotional day and usually I would have had a cigarette. I thought about it but realised that I didn’t want to taste it or risk it being more than one. I don’t want to be a smoker.

How about you? How has today gone?

LeahSMS · 04/10/2019 20:40

@Littlechocola oh no I’m sorry to hear that, why was your day hard? Good for you that’s amazing you didn’t give in.

I’m doing okay I must admit 6mg is not doing it for me but I’m sticking with it. I don’t want to Vape long term we want another baby & I don’t want to risk still vaping when pregnant so I’m going to see a my doctor next week to see what other options there are available x

Littlechocola · 05/10/2019 13:41

@LeahSMS just a crappy emotional day. Something quite silly brought up trauma which I’ve managed to bury so I turned into a sobbing mess. Luckily I had a good friend with me and spoke to my manager later who was really supportive.

Going to speak with your gp is a great idea, why struggle if you don’t have to. But be proud of yourself though! You are having less than this time last week! And you have a baby which would make it more stressful!

We are doing it Flowers

LeahSMS · 06/10/2019 18:13

@Littlechocola I’m sorry to hear that, I’d it because of all the stress of quitting smoking it just life in general?

How are you doing today?

LeahSMS · 06/10/2019 18:14

@Littlechocola thank you. You should be so proud of yourself too, you’ve not had any nicotine for days that takes some will power. We are doing this Flowers

Littlechocola · 06/10/2019 19:47

I think I would have felt the same if I had nicotine tbh.

Still getting mild cravings but I think it’s more habit (and boredom) than anything. Still haven’t smoked.

How about you?

Chippydippy · 07/10/2019 08:52

Hope no one minds me joining this thread. I'm on day 2 of not smoking, had my last cig at 11pm on Saturday night. Been a smoker for a long time, years.

Been wanting to quit for a couple of years now but had a pretty horrendous time over last 2 years so definitely wasn't right to give up then.

I'm using nicotine replacement, gum, spray, inhalator and going to get some lozenges today as the spray is giving me heart burn.

Well done to the rest of you on here! Anyone having trouble sleeping? I usually sleep like a log but last night was just shit, waking every 90 minutes Confused

LeahSMS · 07/10/2019 22:15

@Chippydippy hey of course not. Well done that’s amazing. I have gone back to vaping I’m hoping it’s not going to be long term though. I am struggling a little I’m finding it hard as I usually have a cigarette before bed & when I wake up I think those are the cigarettes I miss the most. How is the spray & Inhaler? I was thinking of trying those

LeahSMS · 07/10/2019 22:17

@Littlechocola I’m doing okay I’m still on 6mg but I am still struggling with it. I really don’t want to go up anymore but I may have to, I came so close to having a cig today but I managed to stop myself. I went out with baby for a 2 hour walk to get it out of my system. How are you feeling today?

Chippydippy · 08/10/2019 07:41

Well done to everyone on this thread, you're all doing so well. @LeahSMS the spray burns a bit at first, kinda like heartburn feeling but it doesn't last more than a minute or 2 and it gives a good nicotine boost. I'm not liking the inhalator. Doesn't really do much for me and just makes my mouth and nose lining burn a bit. I ordered some lozenges off Amazon as they were on offer, hopefully arriving today.

I was so tempted to try vaping but decided I'll try this route first. If the temptation to smoke becomes too much then I'll give vaping a go I think.

I also struggle with the morning cig and the bedtime one. My morning coffee just isn't enjoyable at all at the mo. Think I'm off to work in a bit of a shitty mood today. It's only day 3 Shock

Littlechocola · 08/10/2019 07:52

@Chippydippy hi! Well done you! I had awful dreams the first few days and have been waking although put it down to anxiety! Maybe it is stopping smoking!

@LeahSMS well done for going for a walk instead! I bet the baby loved it too!

I’m still going. No cravings at all yesterday!

Chippydippy · 08/10/2019 08:44

@Littlechocola funny you should say that as I had the most bizarre dream last night. It involved statues and mannequins coming to life Confused I did sleep better last night though, only woke up once I think. Apparently insomnia and vivid dreams are quite common after quitting

Littlechocola · 09/10/2019 08:03

Sounds awful!

LeahSMS · 09/10/2019 10:55

How is everyone doing? Again yesterday I had a bad craving in the afternoon baby is teething so life is a little stressed at the moment but I managed to stop myself.

@Littlechocola @Chippydippy x
