I've tried reading some e cig forums but I'm frustrated by all the terms and words and I'm not at all sure what the variable thing actually is- is it a battery or a tank?! Please could someone explain in simple terms what exactly I need to buy to get the same 'hit' I used to? I posted in chat about how vaping just doesn't do it for me any more. I know with the variable thing you can up it for a better throat hit

Currently I use disposable tanks, the little long cylindrical batteries and 18 strength liquid. Trying the 24 liquid again doesn't improve the 'hit' so I thought id try this variable method thing. Do I need all new equipment? Or just to buy a new battery or tank type?

Thanks

Hello Fawlty. Variable voltage / variable watts is to do with the battery - basically it allows you to send more power through the coil so it gets hotter and produces more vapour.

I posted a detailed explanation here

When you say you are using disposable tanks do you mean CE4's like in this image or do you mean cartomisers (like you get on the little cig-alikes)? Either way there is much better kit out there which will probably work out cheaper in the long run.

throat hit is mostly to do with the amount of PG vs. VG in the liquid - more PG gives more throat hit - but strength, flavour and what set-up you are using can also have an effect.

I'll leave it to others to give you recommendations as I need to get to work.

Good luck!

Yes I'm using those ce4 things you posted a picture of. Ooh I didn't realise it could be to do with the liquid as well. Thanks for the link, will have a read

Oh hell I don't understand this, I watched that video but it just made me frustrated and shout 'WHY CANT THEY MARKET THIS TO NON SCIENCE PEOPLE'

I might go into my local vape shop and see if they can recommend something. Thank you

If you do have a decent local vape shop, then get yourself in there asap - they can be invaluable! Not only can they give you advice, but most will let you try out different kit & have a taste of some of the liquids.

As Plenty says, the proportion of PG and VG used in the liquid can have a major impact on throat hit. I've also noticed that if I vape the same flavour for a long time it seems to lose it's impact, but if I change then go back a few days later it gets the oomph back for me.

I also noticed that the tank used can make a difference - positioning of the coil, number of wicks (which also influences consumption), general overall quality. Cleaning the tank can also keep flavour levels up, as a gunked up wick tends to lead to less fluid being absorbed & a bit of a burnt taste.

Sorry fawlty, I get a bit overenthusiastic about the geeky stuff sometimes Blush

I hope it's all starting to make more sense by now.

Myepack are good for a wide variety of kit at very reasonable prices.

Hi ya ! I upgraded to a innokin MVP 2 with a iclear 30 atty. I found this to be a really simple mod to use and affordable also it's worth having a look at on utube at the reviews . It has a three day battery life and you can also use it as a portable charging device for you phone ! It's a great starter variable vape! Very popular in the vapeing community too. A little tip I use is when you lose flavour from vapeing the same juice for a long time use a minty or menthol flavour and this will cleanse your palette .
