Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

These threads are so long so I haven't read it all but can I ask a silly question? My vape stick came with no instructions. I have put the liquid in (didn't get it in the central bit yay!) the nd o you press the button thing to vape?
You seem to need to suck quite hard to get any 'smoke' and sometimes it tastes a little Burnt.
What am I doing wrong
Desperately want to quit and have a yummy bubblegum flavour but am flummoxed!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/04/2014 14:32

Hi Stamped, which kit do you have? Can you post a link if you got it online or maybe a picture if you don't know what it's called?

Great news - we don't need to do massive long threads any more as we have our very own section Smile

StampedLetter · 28/04/2014 14:33

It is a ce4?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/04/2014 15:04

OK, not sure why you are having to suck hard. Try sucking much gentler than you would on a cigarette, but for longer. Make sure the wicks are wet right to the top - try tilting it to soak them. Dry wicks will give a burnt taste. Daft question, but are you holding the button down the whole time you are sucking? The only other thing that springs to mind is to unscrew it and check it hasn't leaked onto the battery. This could block the airholes at the base of the CE4 and make it a bit of a hard suck.

StampedLetter · 28/04/2014 16:59

Ok will try it again once it is charged. Thanks. :)

Raia · 28/04/2014 17:10

I was doing a dry burn on my iClear 30 just now and it stopped working - to be fair I've been vaping hard on it for 2 weeks so could it just be that it needs a new atomiser bit? Hope so. The old evod clearos are working okay on the MVP now but it's nowhere near as nice to vape with those Sad

StampedLetter · 28/04/2014 20:10

I think mine is screwed. Pissed off as it only arrived today. It seems to be leaking from the tank on to the battery and coming up through the mouth piece.

Lora1982 · 28/04/2014 20:20

Stamped I was told that over filling the tank part can force liquid to leak into the battery bit and bubble out the mouthpiece too. Who did you buy from? If I ever have a bad clearomiser from liberty flights they send out a brand new one for the next day.

StampedLetter · 28/04/2014 20:26

It was from amazon. I have messaged them but also bought another just in case from a different seller.

I didn't overfill it afaik. How do you resolve it if so? Do you just let it sit for a bit and it will eventually empty out of the middle bit? I don't think that is what happened as I was pretty careful but willing to let it sit for a bit if necessary.

Lambstales · 28/04/2014 20:40

Hi, I'm new to all this and I'd like to ask a silly question. I have some old VIP ciggies and the expiry date for the cartomizer is --13 should I take note of this?

PS I never stick to expiry dates with food...

Lora1982 · 28/04/2014 21:12

Stamped I overfill on accident a lot sometimes I tip a small drop out and its back to the line. It wont soak in unfortunately the only other way would be to vape it. Some of my clearomisers dont mind being over filled but two so far have leaked.

badgerknowsbest · 28/04/2014 21:27

Seeing how long people have been 'smoke free' has really encouraged me but I can't seem to cut down by a lot I always go back to roll ups. I have golden virginia liquid at the moment but bought some blueberry flavour today, fingers crossed it helps Smile

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/04/2014 22:12

Stamped, wrap a tissue round the bottom of the clearo and blow hard through it. That can clear it sometimes. The trouble is there are a lot of cheap leaky ce4's around, especially on ebay and amazon. I have a link somewhere to some I know are ok but I'm on my stupid toy tablet at the moment and it's a pain in the arse linking. I'll find it in the morning if I can crank up the ancient laptop. You might want to get the gs-h2's that are linked from a couple of threads in this section - try the clearomiser thread or one today called 'what shall i buy' or something.

Lambs, they'll be fine. The nicotine strength might not be quite as high as it was, that's all.

Badgers, what strength are you using?

badgerknowsbest · 28/04/2014 22:39

Currently on 18mg (think that's right...)

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/04/2014 22:45

You could try some 24mg. You can always cut down again later.

StampedLetter · 28/04/2014 22:51

Thanks, will try the tissue and look through those links.

To be fair to t he seller he has messaged me back already and no fuss he is sending me an we one tomorrow. That's goid customer service, I say, and I think that mope and he is more likely to be legit and not just trying to get a cheap buck by selling dodgy ones. Well, I hope so anyway!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/04/2014 22:54

Yeah I think even on good branded stuff quality can be a bit hit and miss. I had an apollo battery i had to send back twice for a replacement and I've just read shona's thread about her new coolfire - scary stuff!

Lambstales · 29/04/2014 18:12

Thanks Plenty.
I will go ahead and use them.

magimedi · 30/04/2014 10:24

Am just back from seeing my GP (bad case of athletes foot, nothing worrying) & as I haven't seen him for ages I told him that he could now put me down as a non smoker & it was 19 months now.

He congratulated me & asked me how I'd done it. Told him it was vaping & how wonderful I thought it was but I knew he wasn't allowed to recommend it. He said he wishe dhe could as 90% of all his succesful (which he calls a year fag free) patients did it by vaping or ecigs. He also said the other major benefit was the lack of weight gain.

You know people were talking about odd places they have vaped a while ago? Well yesterday I think I won the top trump, I vaped in my uni exam :)

magimedi · 30/04/2014 15:44

And I hope it concentrated your mind, MsInga Grin

WhatHo · 30/04/2014 16:04

Hi ladies, you said no question too stupid so here goes Grin

Is there an idiots guide to vaping anywhere, or would someone make some recommendations to me?

I smoke after kids are in bed for about an hour, in the garden with a book and a glass of wine, and it's as much a 'my day is over' habit thing as anything else (I still manage to suck down about 6-8 in that time however). I feel like I should easily give up though as I don't miss it during the day but if I go more than a couple of days without smoking I get cravings for sure. I smoke Marl lights. I really want to give up.

I'm thinking vaping would be perfect for me but it seems bizarrely complicated - any help?!

YesJesseARobot · 30/04/2014 16:04

Medal for MsInga! Hope it helped and you do really well Smile

I vaped while doing my first Walk at Home workout. I don't think I have quite got the hang of the healthy living thing...

WhatHo · 30/04/2014 16:26

Oh I just found the evangelising thread - I'll read that. Though if anyone has any personal recommendations I;d be interested Smile

Raia · 30/04/2014 16:58

Hello whatho!

I totally know what you mean about it seeming complicated: it put me off trying vaping for ages and it was only when a friend took up vaping, let me try it out and told me what to get that I took the plunge.

I started out with a basic Kanger evod starter kit and it was really easy to use. After a few weeks when I knew I'd stick with it I bought a better bit of kit (longer lasting battery).

Sorry I can't do links on ipad or I'd link to a starter kit like the one I had. Stick around here and any questions you might have will be answered Smile
