Thank goodness for this forum! Any book recommendations?

I am so glad this forum exists- I have a 6 year old step daughter who stays every other weekend and every Wednesday night. At the moment she thinks I am the bees knees and I love her with all my heart.
I know it will get harder. I don't see any step-mothers represented positively anywhere and my own stepmother was bordering on abusive and is now a heroine addict who I haven't heard from for years.
I would like to read a down to earth book, have any of you had a book which has been a life saver.
Thank you

Thank you, yes her mother is lovely(invited us for Christmas day so DSD could see us all together).
But it's great to know I can come here when I need to, thanks

I think if your dsd's mum is inviting you at Christmas you have already won about 99% of the battles. Most if the difficulties seem to come from conflict between the adults involved!

Hello feltpaperchains I'm very new on here and to the whole experience! I would wholeheartedly recommend 'Stepmonster' as NatashaBee recommends also - there is a post I put on here a few days ago. Sorry no idea how to link to it properly but I'm trying this.... I think you'll have to cut and paste it...

I'm also about to buy 'The Step-Parents Parachute' by Flora McEvedy and 'How to be a Happy Stepmum' by Dr Lisa Doodson they are both on Amazon, so I'll let you know how I get on.

As NBee has already said, the women on here are a great source! You will get pretty much everything here - moral support, sympathy and common sense in spades and this has helped me hugely.

Lou :-)
