They both look great, thank you

Don't think Mum and Dad will go for the Eye (I would ) but the Oceanarium will appeal to them

How are things with the skids atm?

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 11:36

SS is being a little .... I'd better stop myself there....

He got really annoyed Wednesday evening because ds was practicing for his gig in his bedroom, ok you could hear it but it wasn't that loud (not as loud as ss has his music). He was moaning on saying "Why do we have to listen to this cr@p? It a load of sht!" etc etc, when it was pointed out to him that he has his music on louder his reply was "Well my music isn't sht like his is".

I don't particularly like ds's music but I understand that he has to practice and at the same time I think that the music that ss listens to is awful too!

He doesn't mind bragging to his friends that his step brother is in a band that looks like it may be going places though.

He wouldn't get out of bed Thursday morning which made dp late for work and I had to rush to get ready for the interview because of the delay.

ds has just phoned and the lifts for this evening are all sorted now. [phew emoticon]

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 17/02/2006 12:19

Glad your ds got things sorted

Your ss actually says sht? Doesn't DP pull him up on it? Or on moaning about your ds music? I know we all swear but at his age?? And I bet his music is sht too if it's anything like the garbage that dsd plays

You have far more patience and understanding than I do. I don't know how you stop yourself from saying "it's my house and if my son wants to play that music he can do!!"

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 12:19

Tarantula, what did ss have to say for himself about the cars?

I meant to ask yesterday but I got a bit involved on another thread and it slipped my mind. Sorry

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 12:21

NAAM I'm surprised that I've got any tongue left, I bite it so often.

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 17/02/2006 12:33

Squirrel I should think you do bite your tongue a lot too - and with very good reason

Hope tarantula's DP spoke to his ds last night, I was thinking about her earlier

What's everyone up to at the weekend?

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 12:46

No step kids this weekend because BM wants to change the weekends around again, this means that hopefully the stepkids will not be here on our 'virtual girls night in'! By the way FANC is up for it, it will be lovely to have her on here again.

Not sure what we are doing the weekend, ds is going to Southampton on Saturday Morning, dp finishes work at 12 so we will be able to have a quiet weekend from then until ds comes back around 9pm on Sunday.

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 17/02/2006 13:06

So you have a rare weekend to yourselves then - hope you enjoy it

That's good news about our 'night in' - glad FANC is joining us, I e-mailed her on Monday but haven't heard anything from her yet, glad she's OK it certainly will be lovely to have her back

We're not doing much this weekend, DP is on days which is the best shift but it does mean he has to be up at 5. There's only one 5 o'clock in the day for me!! Having said that I have to be up early tomorrow - I need to clean the house right through, go food shopping, go carpet hunting (again!) for the spare bedroom and I have to go to Argos - I HATE SHOPPING!!! And I want to be back home for 12 because the football kicks off at half past. COME ON UTD!! WE HAVE TO KNOCK LIVERPOOL OUT OF THE CUP!!! Oops sorry Yes I know it's a lot to do in one morning but I really want to get everything done tomorrow so that I can have a lie-in and an easy day on Sunday

OMG - reading all that it looks like I'll be getting up at 5 with DP

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 13:10

I'd bet money that you don't get a carpet NAAM, I hate carpet shopping without dp!

glad to hear your ds got his lifts sorted out .
PMSL at dss moaning about the load music. dss does things like that too. Think all teenagers do. I got told off by a bunch of teenagers (boys too) for cycling too fast through the park the other day. Apparently I gave them a fright as I skidded when I braked to go round them. Bloody impressive skid it was too. Kids that hang round the parks these day eh!!! I laughed the whole way home.

Hope your Mum an Dad have a fab time away NAAM. I'm sure they will. there is always loads to do in places like that.

Dp rang dss and BM yesterday but didnt talk to dss abou the cars. Said it was too difficult to talk to him over the phone. He did talk to BM tho and she was quite concerned about it all and said she'd keep an eye on him. Dp is going to have a long chat with dss at the weekend so I think I might take dd out Saturday morning and leave them to it.
TBH dp is very concerned about how dss is developing as he seems very young for his age in so many different ways and behaves quite often more like a 10/11 yr old than a 14 yr old. we had a long chat about it last night and he told me how worried hes been. I must admit that I know very little about teenagers but I do know that I wasnt very grown up at 14 and I dont see it as a bad thing but he's worried that dss may have much bigger problems than that IYSWIM.

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 13:21

This must be you getting on your bike tarantula.

I hope your dss is ok and your dp gets to the bottom of it all.

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 17/02/2006 13:30

Squirrel you're probably right. The spare room has built-in furniture, the actual floor space is only 8 feet square and it'll hardly get used so we're very reluctant to spend lots on it. We want to get it done though because dsd's room is next and she'll be sleeping in the spare room whilst we do hers. She's having hers done in Playboy - it's cost us an absolute fortune!! She did have some of the things for Christmas though, and we've bought her some more for her birthday at the end of the month

tarantula - PMSL at you getting told off And thank you, I'm sure Mum and Dad will enjoy their trip I think you're right to disappear so DP can talk to dss, I would do the same. That's interesting you saying that your dss seems to act younger than he is - we have the opposite problem with dsd, she's nearly 13 but she could easily pass for 16, never goes anywhere without make-up and hair done etc. I was still playing with dolls when I was 12....

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 13:30

and tarantula, I supose it is funny, a teenager moaning about loud music, I hadn't looked at it that way.

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 13:32

Ooooo NAAM you just reminded me, dsd (10) turned up wearing loads of make up wednesday, dp is not happy!

OP posts:
tarantula · 17/02/2006 13:32

lol Squirrel Nice pic

NotActuallyAMum · 17/02/2006 13:42

Hmmmmm, a teenager moaning about load music - yes it is a first isn't it? I hadn't looked at it that way either

Not surprised your DP isn't happy squirrel, I wouldn't be either - 10 is too young for make-up IMO

Squirrel3 · 17/02/2006 16:07

I hope everyone has a good weekend (and don't do anything I wouldn't do!!!).

OP posts:

NotActuallyAMum · 17/02/2006 16:14

[don't know what you mean either emoticon]

Have a good one everybody

workingmumnhs · 17/02/2006 17:23

Instant messaging is a programme run by msn and yahoo and a few others. MSN is the most popular. You can talk to friends and get instant replies without having to refresh the screen and post tend not to get crossed. You can have more than one person on a convesation. Jsut can see the night in getting confusing with posts geting crossed and so many people being on at once. Might be interesting tho.

Squirrel3 · 19/02/2006 07:17

Ahhhhh! But that?s part of the fun of MN!

Seriously WMNHS, I personally would prefer to keep it on here, I love the whole of Mumsnet, I enjoy looking and posting on other threads and on MN anybody can join in. I personally wouldn't want 'The Nutty Stepmums Club' to become exclusive, with MN the 'more the merrier'.

Also there is the problem that everybody would have to install MSN on the computers at work if they wanted to chat at work (not always possible) and some of us do not have PC?s at home.

Of course, if anybody wants to swap MSN addresses and chat its fine, but I'm sorry it?s not for me.

OP posts:
workingmumnhs · 19/02/2006 09:42

fair point. I was just thinking for the night not forever. I knowI can't download MSN at work (i've tried) Not sure whether I can get MUMSNET there now either

NotActuallyAMum · 20/02/2006 09:43

Hello all

workingmum I can see where you're coming from but I don't think I'm clever enough to get my head around a different program and if we do it on here it'll be there for us all to laugh at the next day

How is everyone today? I've come to work for a rest today, had a really busy weekend

workingmumnhs · 20/02/2006 09:56

taking a week off work today, How is everyone!
