The Bonus Mums (BoMs) Wine drinking thread is now resuming normal service on SP.
Take a seat on our Passive Agressive Furniture and pour yourself a nice Wine.

Cakes and Double G&Ts are also welcome.

Sooo, I got a letter from school today telling me my child is overweight. You can see my FB photos can you reassure me that I am not going mad and that he is not a porker?

seriously - this is the child who bounces on his trampoline for HOURS at a time.

Then I think "Oh god I'm one of those mums who is blind to her child's chubbyness".

GinAndWater · 27/05/2011 20:02

FFS- Overweight, are they on crack or what ?

Seriously BH- Your DH is NOT overweight at all.

Fecking schools hey...

nenevomito · 27/05/2011 20:05

I'm looking at the pics now and wondering if its obvious but I am blind to it as according to government guidelines he is seriously overweight.

I was mortified when the school nurse rang me. She asked me if I'd like some brochures on how to get my child active. Yes, how to get Mr Runs Everywhere, goes swimming once a week, on his trampoline every night and on his bike every weekend active.

When I told her that I could tell she didn't believe me.

Bloody guidelines.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/05/2011 07:57

I know it is crazy!
Apparently DS (3.5) is 83% for weight, which puts him just below the overweight range.

Yet he is skinny, he does have a little tummy - but don't most 3yos?

He is still in 2-3yo trousers, and I have to get ones with the adjustable waists as the ones that don't just fall off him!! He is 3-4yo tops but that is because he has quite long in the torso.

He is also very active, always running around (he gets told off at preschool regularly for running around inside Blush

Yeah there are some parents who turn a blind eye to their children's chubbiness, but with the level of activity your ds is doing, I think it is very unlikely.

I certainly think for children, that getting plenty of exercise is more important than watching everything they at. I'm getting tired just reading your DS's list of activities Grin

Anyway, nowt happening here just a few false alarms. Hurry up baby!!!!

WinterLover · 28/05/2011 08:15

Kara and Baby I think a bit of weight is fine for a child. DSD goes out, then up all the time but when she goes outwards she's like it for a few months and there is no filling her. I feel that if they go outwards a bit it enables them to then grow upwards! Stupid guidelines!!

Kara Good luck lets hope the false alarms start the real thing Grin

4D scan today Grin Soooooo excited Grin

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 14:20

DS is apparently in the 93rd centile and the letter we got this morning said "You may not realise your child is overweight because they look like other children".

Eh?

Oh I don't know. I will just have to see what happens.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/05/2011 17:26

OFGS, how ridiculous! The thing is, it could be that your DS is just more muscular as muscle is denser than fat! It does show what a crap indicator BMI is.
Anyway what do they think he'll look like, an alien?

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 18:18

Hey WL how did your 4d scan go today? Will we get to see pics?

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 20:41

Anyone around tonight? The rest of the board is bonkers and I can't be arsed to watch the footy!

GinAndWater · 28/05/2011 21:06

evening BH !

I'm waiting for our cheeky curry to turn up.

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 21:08

We failed miserably on the first day of our family diet by having a chinese.

To be fair, DS is at his grandad's tonight and I believe that at least he ate healthily even though we didn't!

GinAndWater · 28/05/2011 21:16

Family diet ?

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 21:18

Yup. I'm overweight & DS is apparently overweight and since DH doesn't get a choice really, we're ALL going on a diet.

GinAndWater · 28/05/2011 21:22

Actually it's not a bad idea- It'll be much easier if everyone if eating the same thing !

I personally find it hard to believe that your DS is overweight though. DD had an ''obese'' BMI when she was 5 until 6 and she is perfectly fine now- She is strong and muscular, tall for her age a well.

GinAndWater · 28/05/2011 21:23

Here he is, the man with my dinner.

Will be back shortly.

WinterLover · 28/05/2011 21:34

Hey ladies im back :)

4D scan was amazing baby im going get pics uploaded in the morning. Parents came over for tea afterwards and mum cried Grin

DSD absolutly loved it, she started to tantrum at dinner (didnt want fish fingers) so I sent her to her room!! It nipped it in the bud and she had NO food until tea. She was super well behaved at the scan and her face was a picture when baby came on screen :)

Oh and I naughtily had a glas of wine with tea and boy did it feel good hehe

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 21:37

Sounds fab!

I could do with a glass of wine or two right now. Good for you with DSD too. Did you get a good view of your baby's face?

WinterLover · 28/05/2011 21:44

Yeah we did, even some smiling and yawning ones.

Why do you need wine? You stressing out?

nenevomito · 28/05/2011 21:50

Nope, just could do with a glass on a Saturday night. DS is having a sleepover and I feel thats grounds for celebration!

WinterLover · 29/05/2011 08:53

Well im regretting the glass of wine, feel rough as anything today... ah well :)

As requested Ive put a few pictures on my photo page on here Grin

GinAndWater · 29/05/2011 10:21
