The reaction and celebrations from the Fleetwood players and supporters were lovely to see.

My friend is a Fleetwood fan so we were cheering for them for her and honestly didn’t expect that result.

I have to say I did expect us to play badly but not that bad.
Not sure it was a red card, but irrespective of that we didn’t deserve to win.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 27/10/2026 22:21

I hope that Fleetwood get a lot of money from being in the quarter finals. They deserve it.

Agree, not a red, but we didn't work hard enough for it.

Great result for Fleetwood, they took their penalties brilliantly after a hard fought 90+. Hoping they get a tasty tie next round also, love seeing the lower league clubs have a decent cup run.

Tiswa · 27/10/2026 22:37

The penalties were really good

interesting to watch without VAR - a few things certainly would have been looked at (even if not changed!) such as the red cards

Brefugee · 28/10/2026 08:57

but do you prefer the match without VAR? I love the early rounds of the German cup with no VAR to ruin the experience.

Tiswa · 28/10/2026 10:57

@Brefugee I think so yes it makes for a much more flowing game - watched the London NFL recently and my god everything had to be looked at!

But yes I think it flows so much better when the initial decision is the only one and play moves on - I have no doubt the red card (and a couple of others things) would be looked at and debated but it makes for a better game when it doesnt

as A caveat though offside and goal line I do miss because they are (usually) binary

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 28/10/2026 15:02

Beating Arsenal in the cup wasn't that hard IIRC 😉

We're getting Fleetwood away now aren't we...which will be lovely in December 🥶

We had a goal ruled out a few months ago by Joe Taylor which was clearly a goal and would've won us the game because there isn't goal line technology in league 1. Definitely needed where it isn't currently I think.

BigDanBurnHesFromBlyth · 28/10/2026 21:21

I’ve seen Bruno Guimaraes take that exact penalty several times and he’s missed way more than he scores.

How embarrassing for him.

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 29/10/2026 15:10

Man City away will still be cold in December but at least it won't be 0-0. 😂 Buzzing.

We had them a year ago at home and they only beat us 2-0 but the year before that at their place, they beat us 5-0. 😂

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 29/10/2026 21:11

I think the clean sheet record will take a slight battering. 😂

Maybe just a little. 😂

Or maybe you'll do a Fleetwood!

Anything is possible in cup games. Bradford are certainly extra resilient this season so far.

Have to face the mighty Huddersfield first though 😉😆

I'm not feeling confident. 😢

I feel it's similar to cup games that anything can happen with big rival games. I can see you frustrating us and getting a 0-0 Bradford special, I can see you getting a set piece and nicking it 1-0 and I could also see your defence maybe falling apart a bit without your suspended player and us winning something like 2-1 or 3-1 (we always seem to concede at least 1).

Really could go either way to me. I wonder if this first goal, if there is a goal will do it such as if Bradford scores first, we might be toast but if we score first, we might be more likely to win.

DuncinToffee · 29/10/2026 21:42

We have Fleetwoood next 😬

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 29/10/2026 21:44

The first goal will be crucial. If you get it, it will force us to put our foot down, which we can't do especially without Wright and Neufville. If we get it, there's a decent chance we can manage you out of it. I said in a WhatsApp group, it'll either be 1-0 or 0-5. 🙈
If you can get Radio Leeds, there was a preview on their daily sports round up today. They had fans on from both sides, so it was quite interesting.

Oh yes. Good luck.

I can't believe that Max's red card wasn't overturned. That tackle was so dangerous.

I think that's pretty accurate. It's going to be a hell of a game either way.

I'll check out Radio Leeds, thanks.

Cuwins · 29/10/2026 22:07

Gutted to lose on penalties last night but thought it was a good game. Now for round 2 on Saturday! That will be a different game I think with both teams playing much stronger teams.

BigDanBurnHesFromBlyth · 30/10/2026 11:26

Wasted a tank of petrol last night driving to Everton away. Hey Ho. I’d rather win the FA Cup anyway 🤣
