Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope Thanks - I wasn’t 100% sure of the source.

I think if they do a launch show next year all the teams will be competing to do the most spectacular segment! No one knew what to do this year. Some were more creative with it than others.

MrsJamin · 20/02/2025 06:08

To me it just seemed like a marketing competition - no real substance whatsoever. It'll be interesting to see if they repeat it next year. The best bits were Jack Whitehall's jokes, I thought!

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 20/02/2025 07:26

I enjoyed it. It doesn’t have a real purpose but then neither does the Olympic opening ceremony or the superbowl interlude. But it is all part of the spectacle and is a great way to launch the season. Look at the chat it has generated on here. I think, given viewing figures, it will become a regular thing.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 20/02/2025 08:25

I liked it, in general, although it was fairly pointless, some of the singing I could have lived without, and I thought JW was a bit of a chocolate teapot.

It'll be a little slicker next year I think.

RockaLock · 20/02/2025 08:58

As a one-off, it was OK.

But every year? I'm not sure. Like Jack joked, all the car liveries look pretty much identical to the previous year, and it's not like they were even on the new 2025 cars, I think they were just on some generic dummy bodywork (or at best a prior year car). So what really is the point - is anyone really interested enough to watch this every year?

Some of the drivers were happy to be there, some were clearly much less comfortable on stage. The Red Bull drivers Max obviously refused to say anything, hence the overly-long and boring video to fill up their time. And the drivers that did speak, it wasn't like they said anything amazingly interesting.

We all love F1 in our house, but agreed that we probably wouldn't bother to watch if they did another one.

MercedesLeftWheelNut · 20/02/2025 09:00

I flicked in and out (glad I caught the Ferrari slot) but it didn't hold my attention enough to watch it all.

Hazeby · 23/02/2025 07:51

mydogisthebest · 19/02/2025 19:52

Only just watched this. Loved that Lewis got such a good reception and (horrible of me I know) that Horner got booed which obviously annoyed him.

The Red Bull drivers were the only drivers not to speak. Was that because Verstappen did not want to or because the booing was likely to drown him out?

It was in London so inevitable. If they’d held it Amsterdam, I expect Lewis would’ve been booed and Horner cheered to the rafters

Lewis would definitely have been booed. Would Horner have been cheered? Obviously Verstappen would but do they really like Horner?

Good question. I imagine they like him as the team principal that helped their man win four championships. But I don’t know actually - any Dutch posters here to tell us?

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 23/02/2025 19:44

Just brought tickets for the whole weekend at Spa - camping with my 18 year old son. Very excited.

MrsJamin · 25/02/2025 14:30

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope Spa's a great track - do be aware how much they all want to fleece you whilst there though. Camping was weird, we'd paid for it in advance and then they asked for more money when we arrived. We refused! Then they have a weird system of different currency designed to confuse you how much money you're spending - so you give them 10Euro and get back 7 Spa credits, for eg then you see a sign saying Coca cola 3 spa credits, and you think £3 isn't bad but really you've paid more than that! Plus you might not use all your credit and its hard to get money back for credits you haven't used. Be ready for bad weather too - it can be cold and rainy even though its summer.

StarCourt · 25/02/2025 14:40

I've camped at Spa several times and had torrential rain and one year even got sunstroke! Conditions are...changeable

LookItsMeAgain · 26/02/2025 08:21

"And we're live from the Bahrain circuit for pre-season testing."

YES WE ARE!!!!

Loving seeing the cars out on track and the different drivers in the cars.

Hi all.

I won't be using Mumsnet anymore as it's become a horrible place. Just wanted to say I hope it's a great and competitive year for F1.

F1 testing is currently live on Sky F1s YouTube channel if you don't have a sky sub.

@Sulusu I do understand. I see this thread as an oasis from the rest of mumsnet. Thank you for being a part of it.

good luck

@Sulusu - you'll be missed.

They have given the teams an additional 1 hour of testing due to a total power outage at the circuit which brought out a red flag.

Begs the question that when a red flag is brought out on a Thurs/Fri (of a race weekend), why they continue to let the clock wind down if they can reset it in pre-season testing?

edited to clarify the Thur/Fri bit.

GM team, running under the Cadilliac badge formally announced as 11th team for next season.
DTS tonight with our Chinese takeaway 😋

ShadowsOfTheDays · 07/03/2025 16:34

Oh my god DTS!

Have had a supremely shite week but this will help; even though it's watching the past and I already know what happens 😁

purplespink · 07/03/2025 16:38

@gingercat02 that's exciting!Grin

I know, but it's the past in a uniquely tabloid version. It's F1 TOWIE, I love it 😀

Hazeby · 07/03/2025 17:04

I need convincing on DTS. I don’t want to watch last season, it’s old news. I did try as people persuaded me so I watched a whole episode about Lewis renewing his contract with Mercedes. Will he, won’t he…happy ending, he did! Except we already know he since went off and signed with Ferrari. Totally pointless!

Should I try again?

StarCourt · 08/03/2025 00:07

yes overall it's old news but you get to see the drivers talking to each other as asides during meetings etc that you don't normally see. It's a different view

LookItsMeAgain · 10/03/2025 13:29

I'm coming back (I won't be disabling my ad blocker software) to let you know that I won't be posting on this thread (or any others) due to MN Admins bringing in a policy to severely restrict access to the site if you don't disable your ad blocker software.
Just as the F1 season is about to start.
Ah well.
I will be posting on Reddit though so if I do post on the Formula 1 boards I will put a MN at the bottom of my posts there. It's a shame that it's come to this. I'm not leaving in a huff or strop - just came on here to let my fellow petrolheads know what the story is before I go.
I hope 2025 and 2026 and onwards are exciting, action packed seasons and that you all really enjoy watching the races.

StarCourt · 10/03/2025 13:45

I keep getting the ad blocker thing too, so irritating
