Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

How was that only a 10second penalty! That looked deliberate. Surely that should be a disqualification.

Agree. I don’t care how good he was, I can never overlook Schumacher’s bad behaviour. Max is the same. So unnecessary as they’re outstanding drivers, they have nothing to prove and yet they pull this shit.

I never liked Schumacher at all because of his arrogance and dirty driving and I feel the same about Verstappen. I don't care how good a driver he is I will never like him

Brazilianadventure · 01/06/2025 16:49

When you look at how Charles and Carlos went side by side on several occasions it was clean racing. The same with Lewis and Valterri & George.

A lot, if not most, drivers are clean racers - yes they can lose control e.g. oversteer etc. but some push the rules beyond the limit.

I also meant to say well done Nico Hulkenberg.

Lewis seems really unhappy. In his interview at the end when the reporter said “I’m sure they’ll sort it soon” (the car) he replied “I’m sure they won’t - I’m sure it’s just me” and then put his head down - he looked close to tears.

Either that’s what he’s being told (it’s not the car that the problem) and he’s being sarcastic (yeah right, must be that I’m a shit driver, can’t possibly be a shit car) or he’s in a really bad place mentally.

ReginaaPhalangee · 01/06/2025 19:09

Max should have been disqualified! He’s such a bad loser!!

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 01/06/2025 19:25

Max has an extra 3 points added to his license - only 1 more for a race ban. But some points do expire soon.

Bad calls from his team but that lunge was not on.

Rowgtfc72 · 01/06/2025 20:41

Anyone else get the feeling he's not enjoying his job and is looking to move on at the end of the season?
He just doesn't seem happy at Redbull anymore.

gingercat02 · 01/06/2025 20:53

I don't think Max will ever go to another team. I think when he has had enough of RBR he will retire from F1. He may do something else in motorsport, who knows.

billysboy · 01/06/2025 20:55

All seems to be about stewards and people whining over the radio etc rather than the fastest race cars in the world racing each other

Who is the girl with the mouth piercing? They keep showing her.

Oscars Sister :)

Rowgtfc72 · 02/06/2025 04:36

@gingercat02 I agree, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't lining something up out of F1.

Piffle11 · 02/06/2025 07:26

I’m not sure there is a team that Max could go to. He’s not going to go to an uncompetitive car, which rules out half the grid. Mercedes: he can’t team up with George, there’d be fireworks. I wouldn’t pair him with Kimi as he’s not exactly helpful and nurturing toward his teammates. I’m sure Zak would love to get one over on Horner by luring Max away, but why would he, when he’s got a great lineup already? Ferrari… Can you imagine Max‘s personality with the Ferrari way of doing things?! Perhaps Aston Martin, if they had a really good car… But that might take too long.

I agree with others that he would probably just quit and go do something else.

Piffle11 · 02/06/2025 07:31

Has Horner actually commented yet on what Max did yesterday? I know he refused to come and talk to the media after the race.

Max didn't really comment on what happened, never mind the team!

Brazilianadventure · 02/06/2025 10:53

Just watching on catch up the Sky F1 warm up show from yesterday, The segment with Nico Rosberg on his rivalry with Lewis was excellent. Very interesting to hear his perspective on 2016. I always found it interesting, that like JB, one World Championship was enough.

For Lewis, Alonso and Max, even 8 would not be enough, They just want to win and win.

WRT CH not commenting on yesterday. He is under pressure, the death of Dietrich Mateschitz destabilised RB management, this combined with everything that happened last year, RB not retaining the constructors championship, not being able to get a second driver to perform etc. means he is not willing to give the media any more ammunition.

I have said for a long time CH, along with Marco and Jos, as adults had the responsibility for teaching Max how not to over step in his racing. I always remember Anthony Hamilton saying Lewis had to learn how to lose, I suspect because he knew Lewis would be treated more harshly. 2021 showed Lewis’ character, you cannot imagine Max behaving as well in similar circumstances.

I have a question about the Verstappen / Russell incident. Am I right that Red Bull gave Max incorrect information and he didn’t actually have to give the place back to George? I’m no Max fan but I sort of understand how this might have fired him up. Doesn’t excuse him deliberately hitting another car of course

purplespink · 02/06/2025 12:51

Yes @bluetongue, they jumped the gun on that as they thought that Max would be getting a penalty so thought giving it back would be easier to recover from. They were indeed wrong and Max would’ve been furious at their incompetence but as you said, no excuse.

purplespink · 02/06/2025 12:51

Do people think that Lewis is annoyed at the team or himself?

Piffle11 · 02/06/2025 12:54

I doubt we will get a definitive answer, because the stewards don’t need to comment on it… But Nico Rosberg said he didn’t think Max had to give the place back to Russell. No one is quite sure who made the decision: Bernie was saying there will be plenty of people back at the factory looking at the data, and although GP had to tell Max the decision, he probably didn’t make the call.

Thanks. I’m watching Ant’s explanation of the incident on Sky right now too 😁

Himself. He was crying when he pulled up.

Just realised that the Canadian Grand Prix starts at Monday 3.30am where I live 😭

The Stewards said they would not have asked Max to give the place back. It was a RB decision playing it safe based on past decisions.

You have to remember often the pit wall have to make snap decisions without multiple replays.

He was also very clearly emotional in the interviews.
