Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

DH said there will be 2 compulsory pit stops in Monaco. I wasn't in the room at the time. Anyone know about that?

Wakemeuuuup · 19/05/2025 16:59

Yep, 2 compulsory stops to try to liven the race up

gingercat02 · 19/05/2025 17:58

😱 really? That's mad!

😱 really? That's mad!

They had to do something as otherwise it’s literally a procession unless there is a crash.

Monaco is where a lot of business is done off track and they want to keep it on the calendar. Mandatory 2 pit stops brings strategy into play and gives teams a good chance to under or overcut.

Obviously Ferrari will mess it up 😂

I’m not a Ferrari fan (I’m more of a driver follower) but they remind me a lot of my Australian rules football team. My team won back to back premierships in 1997 and 1998 - I started following them in 1997. Since then there’s always been the promise of ‘next year’ to keep us fans going. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they never win another premiership during my lifetime at this rate 🤣 Still the idea of following a different, more successful team is unthinkable.

Delighted to find this thread! No one around me is as interested in F1 as I am… DH likes it, but will only watch the race. He’s not even that bothered about qualifying.

I was very pleased for Charles last year when he won in Monte Carlo, but let’s face it, after that initial crash with Haas and Perez, it was pretty boring.

Has anyone seen that clip of Charles going through the McDonald’s drive-through after Imola 😄

Brazilianadventure · 20/05/2025 13:41

Yes, I saw Charles at McDs. As well as Carlos and Lando going for a meal together.

It’s Monaco week - lots of lovely yachts. I’m slightly concerned my YouTube yacht expert is focused on the raising of Bayesian as he normally does several videos of the yachts in the harbour.

It’s going to be interesting to see what impact two pit stops has. Currently a very very slight chance of rain on Saturday - that would make qualifying interesting.

On other news, like Jack Doohan, Yuki is apparently now getting abuse from Argentinian fans. I think it’s really disappointing that the relatively new fans are behaving like this. One of the big differences I found about F1 fans is we loved the sport first. We could debate the merits of drivers and teams but not be abusive.

Do the Argentinian fans now want Colapinto in the second Red Bull seat?? Bit of a leap after his first race for Alpine! I know he had experience last season, but he’s still very new and prone to mistakes. Red Bull need somebody who’s already competent, but willing to take a backseat to Max… difficult combination to find.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 21/05/2025 15:52

It’s a tough one when they need to bring in young talent but the cost per race is so high that they don’t give them the time to settle in and learn!

No the abuse was apparently because Colapinto accidentally blocked Yuki in practice and Yuki gave him the finger. So abuse for Yuki.

Ah ok … thought they were after his seat! thought they were being a bit premature 😄

Anyone any idea what Disney are doing with F1?

Having been a fan of F1 for a long time it’s amazing to see how popular it has become. I don’t agree with everything Liberty Media have done but they have raised the profile and managed to crack America.

Whilst I disagree with the FIA bans on swearing and jewellery etc. I can understand that conservative America doesn’t like the swearing. To me I
liked the drivers being real and after all Gunther swearing on DTS made him a legend.

Franz Hermann breaking the GT3 Nuremberg lap record last week was amusing, Max obviously thought it better to ask for forgiveness than permission from RB.

Brazilianadventure · 22/05/2025 23:05

The F1 drivers and team principles got to see the F1 Movie last night. It was interesting most turned up in team kit. Several were driving their super cars - Esteban appeared to hitch a lift from Carlos.

I think a lot of them appear in the film.

midlandsmummy123 · 23/05/2025 00:16

Apparently Max didn't go as he was busy streaming under his not so secret Franz Hermann identity. Toto also has a cameo at the end, I can't wait to see it - I did look into getting tickets for the premiere in Leicester square but realised I do not have a grand to spare 😔

bluetongue · 23/05/2025 05:21

Looking forward to the weekend even if passing is nearly impossible.

My tip is Lando to win based on nothing else but a gut feeling. Also tipping George to be back on the podium (race pace doesn’t really matter in Monaco). The professional commentators get it wrong all the time so I’m going to give it a go 😄

Piffle11 · 23/05/2025 07:12

Would love Lando to win, he needs it. Unfortunately, considering how difficult it is to pass I really can’t get past Max or Oscar taking pole and then the win. If there are two mandatory pit stops, then Ferrari have no chance 🤣

Brazilianadventure · 23/05/2025 18:03

Ferrari 1 and 3 - why do I think tomorrow they will be much slower.

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 23/05/2025 20:55

It's not even their speed that will clobber them- ferrari pit strategy will do that for them.

I know.

I still remember Lewis losing a certain win due to Merc getting him to change tyres just before a red flag and DR with the fumbled RB pit stop,

Ollie Bearman on a 10 place grid drop, as if last wasn't bad enough 🫢

Do these penalties carry over? Say Bearman qualifies 15th, he can only drop 5 places so does his penalty stay for the next race?
