Happy New Year.

We start with the first all teams season launch on 18 February. Ferrari reveal their 2025 car the day after.

Pre season testing will take place on 26 to 28 February in Bahrain. Australia will host the opening race on Sunday March 16th.

Just discovered this thread and looking forward to joining the f1 chat! Been a fan since I was a child - my dad used to do a lot of work with Williams back in the 80s/ early 90s. My 10 year old has really got into it this season which has been great!

Brazilianadventure · 24/05/2025 06:44

@Dontsparethehorses welcome

Do these penalties carry over? Say Bearman qualifies 15th, he can only drop 5 places so does his penalty stay for the next race?

Unless they have changed the rules, even if Ollie qualifies last he is deemed to have served his penalty.

Welcome from me too.

I started following F1 seriously in 2007 and was very serious about it but for various reasons haven’t followed much for the last 6 years or so. I’m back following seriously again this year and I’m very excited to have a potential WDC from Australia..

spottedinthewilds · 24/05/2025 09:13

Is anyone here looking forward the the movie? I am not a movie watcher at all but will probably watch it at some point.
But, part of my is a bit cross that they have infiltrated my beloved F1 to make a Brad Pitt film who is far far too told for the role.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 24/05/2025 09:25

Yeah I’ll definitely go to see it, but am also cringing about Brad Pitt apparently being a racing driver. Isn’t he about 60?! Bloody men and their egos. Could’ve easily put some young unknown in and people would still flock to see it.

Brazilianadventure · 24/05/2025 09:26

I will go and see the Movie. It clearly has a lot of F1 faces in it. Martin & Croft do the voice over for the racing scenes.

The drivers have said the racing scenes are good. I expect being in a cinema will make them very real.

I agree Brad is too old and from the trailer has a lot of tats - I assume like Lewis.

Just googled it? He’s 61!!

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 24/05/2025 09:56

Brad Pit’s character is supposed to be 40! He is clearly not 40. The guy playing the rookie is also too old - he is in his 30s. Which I guess they had to do or the age gap would look too odd, plus the dynamic of rivals when one is late teens/ early 20s might look like bullying.

But so far everyone seems to be saying positive things about it (maybe they have to or the FIA will be grumpy) and how well integrated the film is in’t real race footage.

So I will watch it and try to ignore the far too old actors.

Yes. It is as much the message it sends about not obeying the flags as actually punishing an individual driver.

Brazilianadventure · 24/05/2025 12:43

So Charles on top, Max struggling with the softs but flying on Mediums. Lewis looking competitive but that crash😱 - the slow cars ahead on a blind corner very difficult to navigate.

I’m looking forward to quali but it’s pretty late here so I’m struggling to keep my eyes open 🤣

Wish I was in Monaco now. It looks so gorgeous there. I visited years ago in May when they were setting up grandstands etc and that was exciting enough.

Brazilianadventure · 24/05/2025 14:55

I agree Monaco looks amazing. The aerial shots of the track, harbour and med with all the yachts is so iconic.

I wish I could afford to go and stay on a yacht.

Poor George and Mercedes 😭

Brazilianadventure · 24/05/2025 15:46

This qualifying is painful to watch. So only 3 out of 13 to go out as both mercs are out.

Poor George and Mercedes 😭

On a recent thread on here about celebs people have met who were horrid quite a few people said George. I like him and was quite surprised but the examples given weren’t nice at all.

bluetongue · 24/05/2025 16:17

He’s not ‘my’ driver but my Norris gut feeling was right.

Brazilianadventure · 24/05/2025 16:17

Awesome Q3 - Really happy McLaren & Ferrari take the top 4 slots.

I had forgotten Lewis might get a penalty.

Well done Lando. Really glad for him that he got this pole - boost for his confidence. Which means it's good for us because he remains a champion contender and adds to the close competition this year.

midlandsmummy123 · 24/05/2025 19:07

3 place grid drop for Lewis, will be an interesting start.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 25/05/2025 07:56

I missed quali completely so am watching q3 while I drink my coffee; heading to Knockhill today so need to get up and out of the door shortly!

ShadowsOfTheDays · 25/05/2025 08:08

Just catching up on the news, and two drivers died yesterday in motorsport events; makes you realise how incredibly safe F1 actually is these days, going at the speed they do and almost always coming out of crashes pretty much unscathed.

Awful weekend for the sport, how devastating for the families.

bluetongue · 25/05/2025 08:11

Just did some quick maths and if the top 3 stay as they are at the end of the race it’s going to be super close between Piastri and Norris in the championship. Piastri will still be ahead but only just.

Brazilianadventure · 25/05/2025 13:12

Watching the warm up, not sure about JBs pink suit. Naomi has worn lovely outfits all weekend.

The mandatory two stop strategy has got everyone confused, including Pirelli
