Yayy. It seems so long since the last race! Looking forward to this weekend. I do like races that are later or earlier in the day. I usually make sure I've done everything i need to do and then stop to watch the race. DH isn't really an F1 fan so he'll be happy the race won't mess with us going out and about at the weekend😂

Wakemeuuuup · 15/10/2024 17:19

I don't understand the 4 week break at this stage. Surely they'd be better off with a 2 week break and finishing the season 2 weeks earlier.

The gap between the end of one season and the start of the next is too short for proper development and testing

Brazilianadventure · 15/10/2024 18:21

I think the break is partly to recognise the two triple headers to end the year are a huge ask for the mechanics, support personnel etc.

crossed my mind too about Red Bull having the 4 weeks to try and catch up with McLaren! urgh hope this isn't so!!

It is to reflect that the guys will be gone over 3 weeks now Texas, Mexico, Brazil and the. Again the last 3.
I am married to an engineer Azerbaijan - Singapore exhausts them notice mention quite a few got Covid and or horrid cold in Azerbaijan.

spottedinthewilds · 16/10/2024 07:39

So glad it's race week!!!!

gingercat02 · 16/10/2024 08:07

@Needanadultgapyear that's exciting, but it must be hard to have him away a lot! You should do an AMA 😁

Glad were back on, DH is interested but not obsessed as much as me, his standard "what F1 is it this weekend " has finally been answered 🤣

Brazilianadventure · 16/10/2024 14:53

@Needanadultgapyear 24 races in a year is brutal on the mechanics and support staff. I honestly think they need to consider two teams to do 12 races each.

Thanks, and to @Brazilianadventure

24 races is crazy. I think, just my boring opinion that there should be a max of 20 races

CelesteCunningham · 16/10/2024 15:27

Yes even as a fan 24 races is a lot, and far past the point we can just pause family life so we can watch live.

It's completely brutal on the people who actually have to work it.

Brazilianadventure · 17/10/2024 08:24

Please let it be RB not McLaren

OP posts:
Sulusu · 17/10/2024 10:56

I have no idea who it is. McLaren and RB tend to be pretty consistent between quali and race pace. Mercedes tend to qualify well then go backwards in race pace. Ferrari is the one of the top teams that's a bit less predictable, but I doubt they would do that. I don't think it's any of the top teams.

There is so much scrutiny now in parc ferme I'm baffled as to who would even try something like that.

Brazilianadventure · 17/10/2024 17:49

I maybe wrong but the technical explanation implies being good in qually and the race means they are more likely to be using the system.

OP posts:
YouAreAllMySymmetry · 17/10/2024 19:27

Looks like RB according to something I saw on Insta. Surprise, RB don't think they have to play by the rules, because...well, generally they don't get made to in any significant way.

Wakemeuuuup · 17/10/2024 21:29

Wow, they just can't help themselves can they. Cheat at every possible opportunity then winge about how unfair it is

Tilda77 · 17/10/2024 21:40

Will be interesting to see how RB do this weekend and if they're lacking performance.

Brazilianadventure · 17/10/2024 22:25

Interesting how the FIA seem to allow RB and Ferrari to do deals rather than be given penalties.

As pp said it will be interesting to see how RB do this weekend.

If they alter the car is amended before it hits the track ( in scrutineering) it has not committed an offence. Plus it needs to hit the track have another team make a formal challenge for a fine to be imposed. In truth the designs are submitted and review by the FIAs engineering technical department so most illegal designs are stopped at that stage.

Sulusu · 18/10/2024 09:35

I continue to be amazed and bemused at Red Bull's incompetence this season. Did Horner's "shenanigans" have a bigger impact on the team as a whole, or did Newey/Wheatley shore up more within the team than I thought.
It seems a silly thing for them to try get away with, even if it's a grey area.

Brazilianadventure · 18/10/2024 09:57

How were other teams ever going to pick up on exactly what the Ferrari fuel system was doing that got banned? Drawings can only go so far.

Ferrari went backwards after the confidential agreement.

Compare that with what happened to BAR where they found the extra fuel tank. Yes, that was far more blatant but teams have learnt to be more subtle.

It is alleged RB drawings show the RB has a “lever” to adjust the front wing but it’s supposed to not be accessible when the car is fully built. All they have to do is find a way to make it accessible in the garage between qually and the race. Very hard for teams to verify .

burblish · 18/10/2024 11:12

I see the bonus points for fastest lap will be dropped from next year - apparently no clear reason for the change has been given yet by the FIA.

This article confirms it's Red Bull. Shockingly, no punishment. Hmm
