"Robinson posted a video on X in which he called for people to join him on the march. 'We're sick of two-tiered policing and justice system in our country,' he wrote. 'We demand the resignation of corrupt met commissioner Mark Rowley.' "

"Decked out in Stone Island, the 41-year-old was joined by actor Laurence Fox who told the crowd: 'I am proud to be British. The most important freedom of all is the freedom to speak our minds. We must protect our right to speak above all other rights.'
He also described the police as 'two-tier' and 'corrupt' who arrested protesters carrying UK flags.
'British lives with British values matter too', he said.

Tommy Robinson supporters arrive in London for 'massive' protest

The protest will set off from the Victoria area at about 1pm, ending up in Parliament Square, where speeches will take place and a film will be shown.

"Robinson led the procession carrying a banner bearing the face of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and the slogan: 'This is London, not Londonistan'.
After the presentation, he aired video messages from conspiracy theorists, anti-vaccine campaigners and far-right activists, some of whom who spouted Islamophobic conspiracy theories."

SYL is the bloke that tried to disrupt a trial for sexual exploitation, potentially causing it to be declared a mistrial. That's how much he cares about women.

Think of it. Making the brave survivors testify a second time. Just for his own political mileage.

There's no chance it was just ignorance on his part, either. He has very expensive lawyers, had media law training, and he'd actually been convicted for doing the identical thing before. He knew fine well that livestreaming during a trial, on which there were reporting restrictions until the verdict, would endanger the trial.

We're just useful fodder to him.

Flag shaggers. Or mouth breathers. Take your pick.

StripedPiggy · 01/06/2024 21:20

Fair enough. Robinson & his followers are entitled to exercise their right to free speech, to protest peacefully and to campaign for the resignation of a senior police officer who they think is doing a bad job.

In exactly the same way as pro-Palestine protesters have been demonstrating in central London almost every weekend since October.

This is what it means to live in a free democratic society. You may encounter people you dislike saying things you disagree with. So suck it up.

True but I can still think TR is a racist cunt.

Lonelycrab · 01/06/2024 22:05

That’s because he is a racist cunt.

How many at this knuckle dragging get together today, chanting “Allah Allah who the fuck is Allah?” as I saw live-streamed earlier today?

About 5 thousand if you’re lucky.

In a city of 8 million. Contrast that with the anti war marches of the last few months (50k-100k) or the anti Brexit marches (400k+)

Thankfully a tiny minority.

How the fuck is he not arrested for racist hate speech?!

Also if there’s anything worse than a racist, it’s a stupid racist. Sadiq Khan is from Tooting.

When your “right to free speech” endangers the safety of innocent people, we absolutely do NOT have to ‘suck it up’. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from responsibility.

Possibly because it might remind Muslim posters that men like that have supporters and we aren't safe or welcome in some places.

@Scirocco No - not my intention at all which my later posts made clear. I did not appreciate your suggestion that I might have had unhelpful intentions.

Edited to tag poster as some way down the thread now.

@keenforhelp i think @Scirocco is suggesting the opposite, it was me who thought you’d maybe posted in the wrong place!

For clarity I haven’t reported the post and no idea why it’s been moved to sports because it is clearly not about sports!!

Yes,@YaMuvva I know you questioned why - but @Scirocco hypothesized an actual (erroneous) inflammatory intention reason. Therein lies the difference.

At the Palestine 'protest' last week, 40 were arrested and 3 cops were hospitalised, one of which was a woman who had her teeth knocked out and face cut up but a glass bottle being thrown into her face. They chant 'river to the sea' which is incitement to violence, some have dressed up as Hamas, Jewish people have been surrounded, intimidated and abused, they hold up anti semitic plaques, which is plain racism.....
These weekly marches are a much bigger issue.
The Tommy Robinson march does highlight two tiered policing and reporting.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 04/06/2024 09:35

I know everyone has the right to protest but I almost wish they didn’t when I see this lot 😣 they’re embarrassing, a disgrace and there is no doubt in my mind if the country looked how they want it to, we would be chained to the kitchen sink.

The counter protesters were the ones being unruly and getting arrested on Saturday, that is a bigger embarrassment. The Robinson march had lots of women in attendance, I don't believe they have ever suggested women should be chained to the sink.

Just look at the disgraceful reporting on this incident from the BBC. They are more concerned with the delving into the victims political views rather than reporting that the perpetrator was a Muslim immigrant committing a terrorist attack.

And some people/press sources are frankly delighted that there has been an attack by a Muslim on someone.
Why do we only seem to have "Muslim Terrorists" while any non Muslim who commits a similar crime doesnt have his religion paraded on all the Headlines?
The victim deserves sympathy and support but some would like to use incidents like this to stoke Islamaphobia

Fair enough!

As a Jewish woman I was FUCKING FURIOUS that SYL (I’m using his real name because he tries to hide it) joined a March against antisemitism recently.

SYL doesn’t give a flying fuck about Jewish people. Much like he didn’t give a fuck about the Rochdale victims of child abuse. He just wants to stick it to the brown people, and Co-opts other people’s very painful and serious experiences/outcries to do so.

the real world consequences of his actions are very profound too

The Pro Israel Middle East Forum is funding him, that's why he was there. But no, I'm not convinced he gives a toss about anything other than the grift.

Tommy three names and his radicalisation of the vulnerable is a danger to us all.

"A total of 20 children were arrested in connection with terrorism offences last year, the head of counter-terrorism policing has said.
Speaking at a briefing, which covered the impact of the 2017 terror attacks, Matt Jukes said that of those children arrested, 19 of them were linked to extreme right-wing ideologies."

We don't have a right to hate speech. That's the deal we have in a liberal democracy. Hence why Pro-Palestinian marchers were arrested for hate speech. Suck that up.

How can you know that anyone is 'delighted' by this? Outraged is more accurate.
It isn't about 'seeming' to have Muslim terrorists it just so happens that when a Muslim is killing in the name of their religion or ideology that makes them an actual terrorist. Just in the same way we called the IRA attacks terrorism.

commits a similar crime doesnt have his religion paraded on all the Headlines?

Well this man's religion is rather relevant as it explains motive. Can you offer a similar example of someone stabbing a persons for an opposing view that is quite clearly related to their beliefs, and did not have their religion brought into it? I surely can't find any.

lolopoplop · 04/06/2024 11:39

we had the misfortune to arrive at Victoria on the train at around the time this was going on. Some obvious attenders were on our train. We struggled to understand the language they were speaking. Sounded odd, muddled and grunting, for a short while we thought it might be eastern european or something as we'd not heard it before (no offence to anyone from eastern europe meant!). But no, honestly, it turned out to be English! Couldn't believe it. Sounded so weird!

Tons of idiots wrapped in the England flag beer drinking and waving racist slogans about.

Clearly they had a mass IQ of about 20.

That is the vaguest extract I have ever read. What was the nature of these terrorism offences? Which extreme right wing ideologies did they support? Was Tommy Robinson specifically mentioned? A rogue teen looking up Nazism for example has nothing to do with Robinson actively radicalising the youth? Where is the proof of your allegation?

Perhaps a similar IQ to those who support people that would see them thrown from rooftops. Cognitive dissonance is alive and kicking amongst the liberals.
