If you feel that you and others around you respect Muslims, that's lovely. I wish more people respected others and treated others with decency.
Sadly, prejudice and even violence towards minority groups, including Muslims, is a significant problem across UK society. This ranges from the relatively harmless but still not nice (eg the nervous looks people give each other when they see me), all the way to physical violence and death threats. I have personally experienced this full range, as have many other Muslim women, and men.
There are geographic areas of England which I would avoid rather than take the risk. There are others where I would take the risk myself but not with my family. Without naming specific areas (because I'm sure many lovely people live there too), these are often firmly right-wing areas with strong support for Reform, UKIP, EDL, the right of the Conservatives, Farage, etc.
I do not feel respected or valued or safe in places where people spit at me in the street, or say they would rather discharge themselves from hospital rather than be treated by me.
