I've really enjoyed the Olympics this year, particularly once I had found the Discovery Channel! What made me really sad though was watching the re-run of Mo Farah in 2016 at Rio - the crowd were cheering and shouting and waving their arms around and I just thought 'wow, all those people in one place - who would have imagined how that could change for 2020/21?'. It actually brought a tear to my eye!
Its strange I felt really upset for Laura Muir yesterday (even though she had run a storming race, British record and pb) but she looked really lonely at the end, and in normal years probably family and friends would have been trackside to congratulate her.
And (I think i read on here) all the parents (and probably siblings) who have got up early to take their athlete to training, sat by poolsides, gyms (god, the absolute stink of feet at some of the gymnastics places my DD has been to - at recreational level - maybe pro is less stinky

) , tracks , parks ,sports venues and waited, driven them all over the country to do their thing...and at the moment it all becomes worth it, they don't get to be there. I nearly welled up when Laura Muir said her and her coach had sacrificed 10 years for that 4 minutes.
