Haven't found a thread for Olympic sports discussions so I'm starting one. This thread is only for discussions of the actual sporting events as they happen over the next few weeks, not the unfairness of IOC's rules/philosophy (e.g. allowing a male athlete to declare himself a woman and compete in the women's category...which is immoral, unscientific, and wholly unjust, but that topic already has multiple separate threads).

Although this will be an Olympics like no other, I'm excited for the opening ceremony tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing gymnastics and swimming especially!

The men's team gymnastics final is today as well, that starts at 11. If I'm using the app correctly!

Are people watching this stuff on BBC, I was under the impression that they were covering a lot of the events this year? Have just got the triathlon replay on BBC1 now, is there more stuff on iplayer etc?

I can press the red button on my remote control and get the second channel on my television that way.

What a brilliant night! Amazing to wake up to it and see all the bling. I felt a bit emotional seeing the TomDaley dive, I remember him when he was just a skinny little kid, with the nations hopes on his shoulders , and all the stress of his dads illness. I am so happy that he achieved his dream, both for him and his family.[ I know in his private life he can be a bit of a plonker, but I am willing to forgive him and let him relish this amazing achievement today!]

Saw the start of the triathlon, what a total shambles, and how lucky no one was injured.

Watched the Triathlon and Peaty's race live, now catching up. Very good start of the day for Team GB

The start of the triathlon was shocking indeed, very lucky nobody got hurt.

I like the guests /commentators on BBC. Although some of the presenters are a bit iffy.

Eurosport on discovery is more like BBC used to be, you can follow any live sport (although mine has just crashed) I like watching the events more than the constant presenting infill (the two on breakfast are dreadful Hazel is much better)

Lutalo is a lovely pundit. Jason Mohammed getting on my nerves though.

I could listen to him all day. He should be on TV more. It is good to have experts on because it helps you understand what is going on.
