Have tickets for the 12th July men’s final, fierce shocked and excited but I need the mumsnet mind to help me find accommodation nearby for the 11th.

We would like to stay the Saturday night nearby in a place with car parking so after the match finishes Sunday we can drive back to the wilds of Norfolk after.
All help appreciated

Budget? Do you want somewhere nice or happy with the basics? Want to be able to walk there or happy to get a short bus or train afterwards?

snappycamper · 24/01/2020 19:15

Putney Bridge premier inn. Lovely big bedrooms, not expensive, right next to district line station (2 stops to Southfields) and I believe it has parking.

snappycamper · 24/01/2020 19:15

Are ballot results out then? I must not have been successful Sad

HappyHammy · 24/01/2020 19:20

Premier inn or a travelodge. We stayed in PI Richmond where you can bus to tube to Wimbledon.

MegCleary · 24/01/2020 19:27

Short bus or train fine just need parking really so we can grab the car after and head home. Just thinking though most places will want us to move car on checkout hmmm
Is there a train station/tube place that has overnight parking bearish to Wimbledon? We could park on Saturday stay anywhere in London do centre court Sunday (squeee) and then head back to car and drive home after.
Thanks for replying, sorry you had no luck @snappycamper

Have you looked at the Wimbledon tennis website, it gives helpful info on how to get there. There is a PI in Wimbledon, one has parking. I'd book soon as they will hike the prices up.

MegCleary · 24/01/2020 21:59

Premier inns all appear booked nearby booo

Merton abbey mills has a huge premier inn and nearby- budget anywhere on train line from Morden, Sutton nice holiday inn with spa, herne hill even or dulwich where two pubs have boutique rooms or Clapham windmill pub boutique rooms

HappyHammy · 24/01/2020 22:13

Pi wimbledon south and Holiday Inn have rooms and local travelodge have loads. Richmond is good for trains and buses and parking. The tennis club may well organise a bus shuttle service. Get in quick! I am vvvv jealous.Envy

littlemissminor · 24/01/2020 22:20

Raynes Park Travelodge or Putney Bridge Premier Inn, Hammersmith Premier In is a bit further out. All have parking

camelfinger · 24/01/2020 22:24

If all the local hotels are booked up or expensive, a crazy idea could be to get a hotel somewhere east on the district line, that way you’ll be on the right side of London for Norfolk.

MegCleary · 24/01/2020 22:27

@camelfinger what areas would that be #bumpkin

camelfinger · 24/01/2020 22:43

Hmm. Sorry Meg I hadn’t quite realised how long it takes on the tube to go east on the district line! So maybe better to try the other suggestions.

blue25 · 24/01/2020 22:47

Well it’s London so there’s lots of choice really. Depends on budget though. Try trip advisor.

Jinx2020 · 24/01/2020 23:01

If you need parking perhaps somewhere outside Wimbledon like PI Epson North then it's train ride in to Wimbledon and you can get a taxi/bus outside the station to the tennis.

HobbyIsCodeForDogging · 24/01/2020 23:15

Go for Raynes Park. Very short train journey to Wimbledon from where you get a shuttle bus to the tennis. Otherwise see if there's an Airbnb with parking in Southfields and walk to the tennis.

peachgreen · 25/01/2020 01:20

Tolworth travelodge is usually really cheap and a short train or bus ride away.

MegCleary · 14/02/2020 14:11

Just twigged the euro 2020 finals are on the 12/7 also Shock
My new plan is to drive down the 11/7 and park nearby in an NCP overnight, stay where ever can get bed. Pick up car after tennis over, drive back to Norfolk.
Next help I need is a NCP car park near Wimbledon I can park overnight in.
Any help appreciated Smile

You want the Just Park app so you can park in someone's driveway.

Also if you are taking the car, then you can AirBnb. There are loads of people in Merton doing AirBnb in a back bedroom of their house.

MegCleary · 14/02/2020 20:27

Oh wow, I’ve never heard to that! Thanks so much

Now due to my country bumpkiness will driving to Wimbledon mean we have to pay a congestion charge?
