I’ve had this boil on my bum for months, it’s agony. I can’t sit down properly! It’s really making me miserable now. I’ve been to the gp multiple times, had multiple courses of antibiotics, the fucker won’t go. I’ve been referred for surgical removal but I’m waiting for a date. Today however it is red, angry and hot to touch. I swear I see a slight pimple head. Can I pop it?! I’m fucking done!!!

It sounds awful OP. I really hope you get your surgery date soon.

Phoned the doctors in tears after a night of agony, it’s the pressure it’s insanely painful and nothing eases it. They said to come in and have a look, they agreed there was a slight head now but said they couldn’t put a needle in it as it’s too deep. I asked about my referral to surgery how long I’ll be waiting and they said as much as it is painful it isn’t what the surgeons would deem large so they’d be very surprised if the hospital actually operates on it. I asked the doctor about magnesium sulphate paste and he said no it’s mainly for getting foreign objects out, but then I saw a pot in the pharmacy and it does say boils on it so I’ve bought one. I’ve just slathered a load on with a big plaster on top - now what?! I’m completely at the end of my tether. I can’t sit down or drive or anything comfortably, I’m yelping every few minutes! Thanks for whoever mentioned red flag for diabetes, I raised that and they did a finger prick test and urine test and said although not definitive there’s no markers for diabetes and no other symptoms so very unlikely to be that. Glad to have had it checked though.

Now you wait. My husbands had totally drained within 24 hours.

alternate salt baths or hot salt compresses and the mag sulphate. It could come up overnight. You’ll feel such relief when it does.

How are you OP? You'll feel such relief when it pops

WellsAndThistles · 27/01/2025 14:20

I would have to sit in a hot bath for a couple of hours then stab it. After 5 months I wouldn't care.

myplace · 27/01/2025 17:53

@bumboiled have you had any joy?

CatsWhiskerz · 27/01/2025 18:13

Hoping the magnesium sulphate worked for you

Pieceofpurplesky · 27/01/2025 19:11

Has it burst yet?

HeartandSeoul · 28/01/2025 16:42

OP, I don’t think you fully appreciate how many of us are invested in your situation, and are awaiting an update with bated breath!

In all seriousness though, I hope it has resolved, and you are pain free once again.

dumpling123 · 28/01/2025 20:16

How are you getting on OP? Did it pop?

something2say · 28/01/2025 20:21

I do hope so, I felt your distress in that last post...

Op for diabetes you want the Hba1c test - a finger prick test of just a point in time measurement and a one off normal range reading means nothing. The hba1c measures blood sugar over a long term period.
