I must tell you what just happened in the shower

So, I am breastfeeding my 4 month old and have had a very painful and swollen boob for 2 days. I've had engorgement before but this felt much more painful.

I thought it must be a blocked duct and read that I should massage boob in the shower & use hot compresses.

Anyway, when I was massaging in the shower, I noticed a white mark on my nipple (like a white head), and gently squeezed it and milk shot out of my boob with such force!

It was like a water pistol stream of milk, squirting out consistently about 10 inches for at least 5 minutes. My boob deflated and it was the most satisfying thing ever.

My main thoughts were 'what a waste of milk' and 'I wish someone had witnessed that'

I had mastitis with my first, and at one point my breast was so hard, hot and swollen, I started to feed my baby and she choked and unlatched, the milk just spewed out and it was green! I managed to hand express it after it stopped spewing. the midwife told me I should have continued to feed the baby rather than hand expressing, but I couldn't have let her feed on that green milk!

Oh I had this so I totally understand how happy you feel now it's sorted. My milk came out with such force it hit the other end of the bathtub. It was astonishing!!!

That sounds wildly satisfying! Hearing about it may be the first thing ever to make me wistful that I’ll not lactate again!

Guess what? It happened again last night!! So satisfying and I'm delighted as thought it must be a once in a lifetime event 😂

Sprayed about 40cm out of my boob for approx 5 minutes. So satisfying

I know that would take considerable presence of mind!

No he was sleeping. I knew what was going to happen though, caught it in a tissue. Blocked in exactly the same place. Maybe it'll happen again 😂
