I must tell you what just happened in the shower

So, I am breastfeeding my 4 month old and have had a very painful and swollen boob for 2 days. I've had engorgement before but this felt much more painful.

I thought it must be a blocked duct and read that I should massage boob in the shower & use hot compresses.

Anyway, when I was massaging in the shower, I noticed a white mark on my nipple (like a white head), and gently squeezed it and milk shot out of my boob with such force!

It was like a water pistol stream of milk, squirting out consistently about 10 inches for at least 5 minutes. My boob deflated and it was the most satisfying thing ever.

My main thoughts were 'what a waste of milk' and 'I wish someone had witnessed that'

An I remember that happening to me. I was sitting on the sofa at the time. It went all over the coffee table, the tv remote and the rug! DH ran to get a cup and was trying to catch the end of the spray about a metre away. Fun times :D

A milk bleb!! Very satisfying. One time it happened it hit DD2 in the face at full force.

I've had milk blebs before but they've never 'popped' like this. It was incredible

My husband thinks I was exaggerating distance, force and time of spray 😂

Oh I have SUCH fond memories of this happening to me. Same as you, in the shower knowing it was a blocked duct. The milk hit the far wall (twice the length of the bath) and made a big mess.

It was wonderful. The absolute high point of breastfeeding.

Now I get why people say "breast is best". I'd have persevered if I'd have known it was this satisfying. Honestly, the messaging around it is all wrong!

I'm devastated my breastfeeding days are over and this never happened to me 😭

This happened to me once too! The most satisfying thing was the initial quiet but distinctive ‘pop’ noise the bleb made when it burst!

I remember that feeling. The relief and also amazement at the force and distance.

I breastfed for 5 years and I never got one of these! I feel cheated.

Wait till I tell you about the giant breast abscess I had when BFing DD2. It burst and there was almost a litre of pus that came gushing out. It was literally spewing out, I had to catch it in kitchen roll and my husband had to keep rushing to get another roll. I wish I'd recorded it, I would have made millions. I think of it often.

It's hard to describe how much I hate the word 'bleb' 😂 but they are hecking satisfying when they go like that.

Very satisfying! I just love to squirt my milk in the bath to see how far it goes!

How did I get to this stage in my life, having breastfed 2 children, and not only not having this happen, but never before seeing the word bleb?

I used to use the milk to ‘write’ words on the wall in the shower like guys supposedly do when they piss in the snow. Fun times 😂

I had terrible mastitis and such pain when feeding on one side. I didn’t know what it was, but poked it with a pin, then used a suction pump and this long hard wriggly worm of hard milk came out and oh, the relief!

Like he'd know! 😄

My boob has felt so lovely and soft since yesterday but is it weird I'm kind of hoping it happens again?

My wriggly worm was about 11 years ago, and I still think about it often.
