Used my ear camera

I've had a persistent ear infection over the last month. I've almost finished my third round of drops and one round of amoxicillin this week. No more pain and I can hear about 90% from that ear. I looked inside with my new camera and saw this 🤢 I don't want to dare start digging around as it was so painful the last month and has only just stopped making me feel unwell. I have a follow up gp appointment on 11th July but not sure if I should ask to bring it forward. I've also had micro suction twice in that time!

@stressedespresso as tempting as it is I'll have to leave it alone. I might see if I can get a gp appointment tomorrow as I don't want it to fair up again!

Hang on, you can buy ear cameras?!

I got this for £15 from Amazon. You can connect it to your phone camera. It comes with little scrapers but I've had such bad infections I don't want to use them and won't insert it any further

I have one of those ear cameras too and mine was full of crap! I did dig mine out but I didn't have an ear infection at the time so probably wouldn't fart about with it if I had.
It was soooo satisfying.

You can get it removed at specsavers that have a hearing test bit. Better than the gp as they do it regularly.

It doesn't hurt anymore. I was maxing out paracetamol the other week and have been dead for weeks in this ear. I'm pregnant so can't take anything else. I was so desperate a couple of weeks ago I almost took some codeine I had in the cupboard. It switches between being blocked and unblocked but it's been good today. I guess something isn't right if there's all that crap left in it though.

I've had micro suction twice in the last month. The last one said she couldn't go deep as the whole ear drum is covered and they are worried it's been perforated. I don't think it is though.

I presume you've tried olive oil drops daily to soften?
I was like the recently. Ear blocked - felt like I was under water. Spec savers helped but I had to return twice before they could get it all. I also developed a bad smell (but no pain) probably caused by repeatedly putting my finger in. Antibiotic sprayed worked.

I also have an ear cam from Amazon but am nervous to dig out the wax I see unless it is really near to the outside of the ear.

But I use a cake icing syringe to squirt warm water in my ear which seems to have adequate results and (from what I recall) is basically what was done to me in hospital once or twice. If you do it in the shower then the water temperature is likely to be comfortable, and there is a bit of resistance in the syringe to stop you squirting too fast.

I tell you now, my partner is getting that in his lughole every time he falls asleep 😆

Did you use the camera/scraper and then get the infection?!

No. I got the camera today to check if there was still discharge even though it's feeling a lot better. I've had an infection the past month. I'm not touching it as I said in previous posts. I didn't poke down any further.

I do have some olive oil drops but haven't been able to use them yet. I've been using drops for 3 out of 4 weeks. I'll check with doc but they did suggest them too once the infection cleared.
