Klaxon- what is this that just exploded in my bottom? Warning- pic included

On Monday I started to have a pressure feeling in my bottom. Thought it might be piles so popped a bit on Anusol on.

Felt sore on Tuesday and then yesterday was in absolute agony. I can only describe it as a massive egg shape with a sausage shape going up from my anus that we're getting bigger and bigger.

Tried to get in with GP and Urgent care with no luck so thought a long bath might soothe it. Got into bed after dosing up on codeine but still in excruciating pain. Then turned over and it literally exploded into my pj bottoms in a mass of clear liquid & blood. Instant relief.

Tried to get in with GP today- no luck. Asked for antibiotics and explained I'm worried about infection because of where it is. Won't be able to fit me in- try again tomorrow.

Pic from today shows it has burst through the skin and has areas of pus on it. It doesn't reach inside my anus- just stretches upwards from it. Not even sure what it could be. The pain isn't as bad, but is painful around the age of the "sausage" that burst.

What would you do?

I would ring 111 and ask for urgent care or similar, it surely shouldn't be left without a check.

Yeah I'd call 111 too. You probably should have antibiotics for that.

Looks like a perianal abscess , I'd get a doctor to have a look.

Definitely get seen by OOH or walk in centre. If it’s a perianal abscess it may need draining, cleaning and packing until it heals. They are notoriously awkward because of their location and tendency to get repeatedly infected if not dealt with properly.

Hi there. I did manage to get in at the Doctors and it was indeed a perianal abcess.

I had a weeks antibiotics and made sure I kept it v clean and I'm extremely lucky that it's gone away on its own without surgery.

Thanks for all the advice

Phone, swap to front facing camera, use the timer
I've done it trying to take a pic of a spot on my back!

I feel your pain, OP. Absolutely excruciating. Doc told me it was piles. It wasn't, and exploded just like yours. Then I had another. Bloody hell. Take care. Hot baths are your friend.
