Help me - infected cyst

Hello sporners, my first time posting in here!

I’ve had a tiny little lump in my armpit for as long as I can remember. It’s never bothered me until I woke up Thursday morning in agony and it had swelled to the size of a golf ball.

I went to my local walk in centre who confirmed the cyst is infected and prescribed antibiotics but it’s getting bigger and more painful.

I’ve been using a warm compress, is there anything more I can do? Should I go back up and ask them to lance it? Should I try and pop it?

Picture attached for your enjoyment.

So much better thank you! The swelling has pretty much gone, just a bit of weeping now and again.

Two days of antibiotics left and when it’s healed I’ll go back to the doctor and ask for the cyst to be removed - I do not want to go through that again!

So glad it’s gone down OP, must have been painful. I had a little one on my back that suddenly got inflamed but never got worse than a bit sore. I used a flannel as hot as I could bear on it repeatedly and then squeezed it because I have no self control and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I miss it.

Hi guys.
Had this spot behind my ear - can’t remember when it appeared (month or two ago). Never concerned me until I knocked it at the weekend and it bled. Showed my husband who told me to get it looked at.

Chemist says looks like a cyst, but Dr appt in 2 weeks as I suffer from health anxiety and am panicking!

Any advice how to treat?

Thanks x

I've had those before and I don't think you need to worry about it. Cysts are not usually dangerous or life threatening unless they get really infected.
I'd just keep it clean and maybe wipe daily with dilute TCP or put savlon or something on it until you see the doctor. Try not to keep touching it in the meantime.
