name changed, you guys are my only hope on a Sunday noght

had a swelling at the top of thigh for a week or so but today it’s really painful had a look and it like tbis

any ideas what it is or how I treat it

Wtafis · 18/10/2022 17:54

I’d say TMI if this wasn’t the board it was.

it started leaking bloody pus on the school run but stopped again now.

hoping a hot compress once kids are in bed will help

Warm epsom salt bath and as others have said warm compress regularly. Could take paracetamol too or ibrobufen to help with the swelling. I'm not a medical professional but those are steps I would take.

Wtafis · 18/10/2022 18:34

Where can I buy Epsom salts?

That's good, it means it's doing what it should and starting to drain itself. Hot baths will help for sure. Remover to use cream afterwards and cover.

Wtafis · 18/10/2022 20:10

Finally got kids in bed.
definitely starting to drain so hopefully this is the turning point

Oooooooo! There will be a lovely hair inside like a deep dark treasure just waiting to be found 😂

RightsHoarder · 18/10/2022 20:19

Ooh yes those curled up hairs are the best. Hope it's not too painful now OP

vipersnest1 · 18/10/2022 20:24

Get the tweezers on it, @Wtafis! Yank out any hair nearby as it may be one of those little buggers that's causing it.

Isaidnoalready · 18/10/2022 20:31

Pull the hair see if it's that causing it

Wtafis · 18/10/2022 20:54

Got DH to have a look, he can’t see any hair inside

OP posts:
Notimetothink · 18/10/2022 20:56

I reckon you can stick a big needle in that now. The top won’t be painful if the skin is super stretched. (Go on- you know you want to!)

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/10/2022 20:56

Just get the tweezers on any hair in the area!

TinaYouFatLard · 18/10/2022 21:06

I had very similar in my bikini area. The pain was horrific and I sat and sobbed at the GP. The relief when it burst was amazing.

Lindengericht · 18/10/2022 21:11

Oh I had one like this one. As PP said, horrific pain. When it popped... holy moly.

I wished I had photographed it so I could fondly reminisce

AlternativelyWired · 18/10/2022 21:12

Get your DH to video it.

unsync · 18/10/2022 21:58

👀 🍿 hope it blows soon (so you get some relief of course). I would have been giving that a big squeeze and a needle poke.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 19/10/2022 08:19

Don't know why I'm following this...

A few years ago when I waxed my bikini area once it got infected like this - didn't look like or hurt as much as OP but the nasty spot must've got infected and did have a hair inside, I squeezed and out came gunk but I think only when I tweezed out the hair (flipping hard to get out sometimes!) did it do any good and start healing.

I find with these though sometimes no matter how hard you squeeze/poke/mag sulph it, you have to let nature take it's course and then let it burst/come to a head.

Wtafis · 19/10/2022 14:12

Warning this photo is grim

its developed a little hole which is constantly leaking.

hoping that means it’s slowly going down

OP posts:
Wtafis · 19/10/2022 14:35

do I need to cover it somehow?

OP posts:
monsteramunch · 19/10/2022 14:42

Is there any way you can see someone face to face? I think you need to in case of infection. Pharmacist if not GP?

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 19/10/2022 17:34

@monsteramunch - I was thinking similar - I was thinking earlier, ok, if it comes to a head and is then squeezed and covered in antiseptic cream/lotion etc then good but with OP it looks like something which could very easily get infected if not taken a look at by a professional!

Wtafis · 19/10/2022 17:39

I could call GP tomorrow. Not sure if they would see me

OP posts:
monsteramunch · 19/10/2022 17:40

OP I just had another look - please get this seen at least by a pharmacist, that hole is a real infection risk and I worry that anything you do could be aggravating it / will definitely be letting bacteria in.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 19/10/2022 18:02

I had something similar with a mosquito bite
doc took one look and sent me to minor surgery where they lanced it and cleaned it up and dressed it
on v strong antis for a week , I felt like I had flu

I know it won’t be the same but the level of infection looks similar
please see someone asap
