I have this lovely infected cyst on my back. I read on NHS website that you shouldn't squeeze them and visit gp for antibiotics. She gave me antibs but also asked if she could squeeze it. I let her have a go but nothing came out. She told me to try and squeeze it at home going against the official advice. She's a sporner isn't she? I sadly still can't get anything out of it.

Must be a MN Sporner 😁

Hope the antibiotics work.

littlemeitslyn · 02/09/2019 19:32

Stick a sterilised pin in it 😃

ScreamingValenta · 02/09/2019 19:34

If it was mine and accessible I'd be trying a sterilised needle in it, but if it's on your back that's probably not an option.

ladyflower23 · 02/09/2019 20:11

I do think it needs a stab to get anyting out. I'm quite flexible so might be able to stretch my arm round. I asked DH to try squeezing for me but he said no. I wish gp had just lanced it but maybe they're not allowed to. I might try a needle tomorrow if it doesn't start shrinking and I can pluck up the courage.

Put a hot flannel on it and it will bring it to the surface

cushioncovers · 02/09/2019 22:44

Oh you definitely need to LTB.

LoreleiRock · 02/09/2019 22:49

The student in my GP’s office was definitely a sporner and wanted to stick a needle in a weird cysty thing I had. The GP wouldn’t let him and referred me to a dermatologist. It burst on its own accord in my sleep, so I missed out on that joy. I wish she had let him stick a needle in it. He was positively salivating.

justforthisnow · 02/09/2019 22:52

Much as I am a sporner, that cyst is nowhere ready for popping. Infection a no. 1 red flag for NO SQUEEZING. Sporn 101 people. Leave it a few days and if it heads, pop it.

ladyflower23 · 03/09/2019 19:54

@justthisfornow I'm going to bow down to your superior knowledge and wait to see if it grows a head. No progress in either direction at the moment.

Try putting some magnesium sulphate paste on it

userxx · 05/09/2019 16:18

Yep she is. My doctor is too. She once squeezed a cyst in a very intimate area, afterwards she smiled and said that was soooo satisfying, I couldnt get out of the room fast enough.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 05/09/2019 19:19

I suppose GPs and nurses kind of have to be sporners. It goes with the profession!

user1473878824 · 06/09/2019 18:45

Bread made damp with warm milk in some kitchen roll and hold it on. Brings everything to the surface.

ScreamingValenta · 06/09/2019 18:48

Has it burst yet, OP?

RussellTheLoveMuscle · 07/09/2019 18:58

Get a Stanley knife on it

mamaofboyss · 07/09/2019 20:13

Your all going to think I'm vile but I would loveeeeeee to squeeze it!!

Reallybadidea · 07/09/2019 20:19

I'm a massive sporner when it comes to me and my own family, and enjoy nothing better than squeezing a juicy spot. But when it comes to strangers I just don't feel it. I used to be a scrub nurse and was involved in a fair few incision and drainage operations on massive infected pustules. I always had to close my eyes because it made me feel sick when they exploded. Does that mean I'm not a true Sporner?

leaserspottedmummybird · 07/09/2019 20:24

'Sporner corner' just popped up in my active list.
Ummmm.... what is a sporner? Blush

ladyflower23 · 08/09/2019 11:31

Update: I showed it to DH last night who said it 'looked very tight and ready to burst.' I went and bought wound dressings in anticipation of the big event. This morning I noticed what looked like a little head of pus sticking out the top so I readied myself and gave it a squeeze...a large mound of cheese and blood popped out followed by further sudden spurts as i squeezed some more. I feel like there's more to come so it's dressed for now and I will have another go tomorrow. The relief of it finally erupting is immense 🙌

Great description of the pop there OP, you should write a book!
A whole new genre of books, available to buy in a book shop near you......

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2019 11:45

It'll probably keep coming back unless it's removed properly. They have a cyst wall that needs to taken out or it'll just refill.

MrHaroldFry · 08/09/2019 11:52

OP, I had one of these boils after a bikini wax. Went to GP (Locum) who gave me antibiotics and told me to have a hot bath or as hot as I could bear shower on my intimate area and also to press a flannel soaked in hot as I could bear water and it would pop in two or three days.
I did as he said and he was 100% correct. End of day three it was Mount Vesuvius (and it smelled putrid and had same cheesy discharge as yours and there was a huge hole as the site of the eruption. I dressed it for about three consecutive days and it was only towards day two of dressings, that I could see the gunk was nearly gone and healing commenced.
The relief was immense!

You make that sound like a bad thing! Grin
