Cyst on back angry and grown an eye

Hi there

I have a cyst on my back which has started to get painful.

I’ve been getting my kids to take pictures as I can’t see it or reach it. It appears to have grown a tiny eye. It this infected and so I need to go to the GP?

You need to rig up some sort of contraption to squeeze it from a distance. I'm thinking tweezers taped to bbq tongs for remote squeezing action. Then film and share the joy

That looks ready to go. If you can't reach it, could you get a pair of tweezers and position them to do the job for you, using a mirror to see? I did that with a huge one on my back. I got the whole plug out. It was one of the best nights of my life

Mine did this and I had to go on antibiotics and have a nurse squeeze and dress it three days in a row. They can get really nasty apparently. Off to docs I reckon.

I really cannot reach the bastard. Believe me I have tried. I am someone who hovers around teenagers trying to squeeze their spots (my own teenagers, obvs). If I could get to it I would SQUEEEEEEEEEEZE. Had DH hold a warm flannel on it for about 45 minutes which felt AMAZING. Plus the eye appears to have gone. However DH is terrible at taking pictures so there is much blur this time. The eye could still be there, underneath..:

It feels like my back will explode. Very tight feeling in that whole area. If I accidentally leaned on a point it may erupt.

Oh dear Daily. I think a trip to the doctor is needed.

At least until me and MummySparkle patent our marvellous invention. I'm liking the tweezers+tongs idea, Mummy. Combines pincer movement with force.

Try putting germolene on it... antiseptic and pain killing action. If no improvement with that then gp tomorrow.

Well I’m now at the urgent care walk in centre. Today the area around it became very painful and I started feeling unwell. Hour wait to see the emergency GP but hopefully something will happen. I can feel the pain up into my shoulders so it is defiantly not right. Terrified of sepsis so hoping they will act on it quickly.

Hope you’re ok OP. I had similar a couple of years ago and had to get it drained at the hospital and dressed for a week afterwards by a nurse. Relief was bliss! Hope your is the same

So I was given antibiotics - no draining. Been taking them since Thursday and the cyst is still bad. It is still really painful. The red area is much darker now and I feel sick if I lean against it. It also smells a bit 🤢🤢🤢. You wouldn’t smel it if you stood next to me but I if smell the area of my clothes which has touched the cyst it is horrid.

I really feel I need to go back to the doctor. This isn’t right is it?

Yes would advise go back to dr. The antibiotics have had long enough to kick in. Do you feel unwell ?

Gosh, I wish I was your next door neighbour. Did the doctor say what it was? Ingrown hair, sebaceous cyst?
