Does anyone know what these holes are on the sole of my foot?

My first thought was a verucca, but I have had one hole for about 15 years... tried verucca treatments which didn't touch it. It isn't painful so I just sort of ignored it, but now noticed the holes are spreading Shock

Is there anything I can do to treat at home? Any ideas what they are? Don't really want to bother a doctor as they are not painful or bothering me, just look awful!

They look like veruccas to me.

SnowiestMountain · 14/01/2018 16:30

Maybe a minor version of pitted keratolysis...

TheQueenOfWands · 14/01/2018 16:32

Oh, that's lush!

Have you squeezed? Scraped? Filed??

I reckon verucas too. I had one for about 10 years. DP used to scrape it with a craft knife for me (was then that I knew he was The One) and it eventually went away.

Sometimes I miss it.

ObiJuanKenobi · 14/01/2018 16:37

My veruccas look like this with black spots in the middle but also a few of these little holes on the outside. I've had them for about 8 years. It started as just 1 for 5 years and now it's 4 huge ones. Thinking about cutting my feet off.

MiraculousTales · 14/01/2018 16:45

There's no black centres in them, I have tried to squeeze but nothing comes out, they are just really deep! I have some duct tape so I might start filing it every night see if that helps.

Nhs site says veruccas go away on their own accord after a year, that's a big fat lie then Grin

Yes it's utter bollocks I went to the doctor last year because it hurt to walk on them and she told me if they hurt it was a great sign and they were definitely on their way out Hmm

MiraculousTales · 14/01/2018 17:03

Oh brilliant so by that reckoning mine will be around for a while yet. Bloody things.

I don't like the sound of pitted keratolysis...

I don't think yours are anywhere near as bad as this badboy so you may be lucky?

Does anyone know what these holes are on the sole of my foot?
TheQueenOfWands · 14/01/2018 17:13

Is that what GP's are saying now?

Pain is a great sign?

Righto, Doc..!

ObiJuanKenobi · 14/01/2018 17:14

Apparently its a sign that the body is fighting it Grin

TheQueenOfWands · 14/01/2018 17:25

Reminds me of when my parents would tell me that the worse a medicine tastes the better it is for me.

I believed them, too!

MiraculousTales · 14/01/2018 17:27

Oh my word Obi! That looks so painful Shock I'll stop moaning now...

OP posts:
ObiJuanKenobi · 14/01/2018 17:30

God no I didn't post that to too you I just thought the holes were similar round the edge Grin

ObiJuanKenobi · 14/01/2018 17:31

*to top you

MiraculousTales · 14/01/2018 17:33

Oh no I didn't think that, can't believe how bad yours is Shock. Won't the doc treat it for you at all?

OP posts:
ObiJuanKenobi · 14/01/2018 17:37

No Sad that's probably the worst one I have and where it is on my toe makes me walk funny now as it's soooo painful to put any pressure on. I'm planning on going to a private foot doctor and having my foot cut off ones removed somehow.

My advice would be treat it or get professional advice before it gets out of hand especially if the 'holes' have begun spreading.

Amber0685 · 14/01/2018 17:43

Maybe a fungal infection? Could try Lamisil cream

winterwonderlandy · 14/01/2018 18:28

Looks a bit like pitted keratolysis to me, especially if you say it's quite deep. I had it years ago but it spread a lot more. An antibiotic cream from the GP cleared it up in a couple of weeks.

MiraculousTales · 14/01/2018 20:01

Thanks for the advice everyone I will get it sorted now rather than ignore it for another 15 years Grin

Update! Sorry for the ugly foot pic Grin

So I have assumed it is a verucca and have gone down the duct tape route, this is how it's looking now. All the little holes have sort of opened in to one big one! Still no pain and it's not bothering me at all so don't really want to waste a doctor's appointment. What do you think? Does it still look like a verucca?

OP posts:
ObiJuanKenobi · 19/01/2018 20:17

It's certainly less verucca like now!! Quite a difference. What's your plan of action from here?

MiraculousTales · 19/01/2018 20:37

I've no idea, I was hoping someone would tell me Grin.

I had exactly this for about 12 years... tried all sorts of verruca treatments then when nothing at all worked I went to the chiropodist who thought they were verrucas too. When he dug and scraped he eventually found nothing at all to indicate they were verrucas and said in fact they are corns. He chopped all the surrounding hard skin off with a scalpel and told me to moisturise and file as often as possible. That was about 6 months ago and the skin is just starting to build up again around the holes so I'm going to book in for the scalpel treatment again (doesn't hurt at all btw, just feels a bit scrapey and weird).

I’ve had these on and off for years! Have never had them treated or anything. I only just started researching what they actually are. Some of mine are really deep but I file them as much as I can. The odd one or two that I’ve found before the hole has opened squeeze out beautifully...

Maypole245 · 15/07/2018 19:50

Could it be mosaic verrucas? I had them for years on my heels, ignored them...finally had to get them frozen off over six sessions. Not fun.
