2 rounds of antibiotics and still no improvement. Patient (not me) has been advised to ring general surgery on Monday. We've tried all alternative methods. TIA.

It's very painful and huge. She's in a lot of discomfort and has been told to go to A&E if it bursts or starts to leak. A small black head/ cyst has been there for over ten years. You can see the black hole in the photo. She is taking antibiotics and codeine/paracetamol for the pain. Any ideas as to how I can help her feel more comfortable?

Hot compress should help with discomfort. Presumably she / you have tried a little round black head remover on it? Have you watched any Dr Pimple Popper black head removal videos?

You could add Ibuprofen if she can take ant-inflammatories.

It may have been an epidermoid cyst or the aforementioned Pore of Winer that sat there for years minding its own business and has now got infected.
If it starts discharging it will make a spectacular mess, but she'll feel better for it tbh.

Ouchy. I don't have any recommendations re making comfortable, but I would suggest not poking it with anything. Looks like a job for a Proper Doctor as opposed to one of us lot Hope she gets relief soon OP

It's on the side of her breast. It's never been mentioned before but has obviously been festering and waiting for an introduction. It last erupted over ten years ago.

Far too painful to be touched - it's agony. It's absolutely huge.

Oh, your poor friend - it must be excruciating.

Ah, breast abscess, that's nasty - poor thing.

If she feels generally unwell, has a fever you cannot bring down with meds and/or starts vomiting, i'd take her to A+E - she might need urgent I+D and/or iv antibiotics.
