He let me give it a test squeeze and poke, but the skin over it seems very very thick, it won't give in its own.

However I have been given a consolation prize

That other spot is rubbish! It's fit to burst and the top will come off as soon as it's touched, plus all the pus is at the surface so no therapeutic squeezing required.
