Little Girl (8) tried Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm

What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product?
answer: packaging was very plain, a bit boring, texture and scent were both very neutral, which she appreciated.

How easy was the product to apply?
answer: very easy to apply for her or me.

Did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin?
answer: yes, overnight.

How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it?
answer: it’s very similar in texture to Lansinoh cream and really soothes and hydrates sensitive skin. I would definitely recommend it.

  • What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product?
I liked that this product is fragrance free, my children did not comment on the scent. The packaging is simple but clear but I wouldn’t say it stands out as being a product aimed at children?
  • How easy was the product to apply?
super easy to apply even though it’s quite thick, it absorbs into the skin well.
  • Did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin?
yes the product is very moisturising and soothing
  • How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it?
I would recommend it. I’d describe it as a soothing balm. We also found it useful when we were caught out by some unexpected sunshine in Cornwall to soothe pink cheeks and noses

we tested the soothing balm, thanks

My son (and I!) tried the suncream. He's 11.

  1. What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product

I liked that it was scent free and so did my son- he hates perfumed products because he thinks they make him smell like a girl! He also really liked the texture- he doesn't like most suncreams because they are greasy. As for me I liked the texture because it was thick enough not to go everywhere. Bonus points for the packaging- most suncreams for sensitive skin are from the kids range. My son is beyond cartoon characters now and will point blank refuse to use them if they have pictures or words suggestive of younger children

  1. How easy was the product to apply

In theory, very easy. However my son is somewhat reluctant to use suncream so not as easy as it could be. I tried it nyself- went on easily and didn't feel greasy or sticky.

  1. Did the product help or soothe your child's sensitive skin?

I'm always skeptical of trying new things with him because he has very sensitive skin. Many a time we have tried suncream claiming that it's suitable for sensitive skin and in reality it's anything but. Cue a very itchy and hacked off child. This didn't make him itch at all though so yes I would say it definitely helped.

  1. How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn't tried it before
Non greasy sensitive skin suncream that doesn't have really infantilising packaging or smells like a perfume shop Would you recommend it? Already have!

Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm.
My DD has Down Syndrome and gets very dry skin. She's very sensitive to textures and smells, and this product worked amazingly well. Her dry patches looked so much better after a week of regular use. As there's no smell, it didn't bother her, and her skin absorbed the balm quickly.
I would highly recommend this product!

kennycat · 06/06/2025 00:16

We had the soothing balm and it was lovely. It was also great for sunburn which was handy as we had one whole day of actual sun!
It smelled fairly neutral, and absorbed really easily.
We all used it and I'd buy it again just as a general moisturiser regardless of whether you had sensitive skin. I've already mentioned it to a few friends as a good thing to buy. While it isn't that cheap I felt like it was doing us some good and my children loved not being itchy any more!

Dizzywizz · 06/06/2025 06:58

We tested kids dry touch gel cream

  • What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product?
my son said it feels nice and light. It has a bit of a chemical scent which we weren’t expecting
  • How easy was the product to apply?
very easy! Not too sticky
  • Did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin?
it didn’t make it flare up, that’s the main thing
  • How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it?
Definitely recommend. It is so less sticky than normal suncream and my son liked that aspect the best
Zigzag19 · 06/06/2025 09:20

We tested the Eucerin AtoControl Balm.
DD is 4.

What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product?
She liked that it was quite creamy and thick but still easy to rub in herself. It didn't have much scent which she was a little disappointed by but I explained that is better for more sensitive skin like hers. The packaging was sturdy but not very easy for her to use herself so I had to help her squeeze some out.

How easy was the product to apply?
Very easy and it soaked in quickly without leaving a greasy residue.

Did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin?
Yes, her hands especially get very very dry and it helped keep them feeling smooth and moisturised throughout the day.

How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it?
It's an effective moisturiser and barrier type cream that helps with dry skin conditions. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality moisturiser for delicate skin.

my 10 year old tried the Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm

what did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product?

the texture was light and smooth, easily absorbed. It came in a tube which was perfect for self- application for a child. The scent was mild, I could hardly smell it.

how easy was the product to apply?

It came in a tube, was not runny, a little went a long way.

did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin?

Her skin looked moisturised, although I note that we needed up to 3 applications everyday to keep her shin from looking ashy.

how would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it?

it’s quite good for combating dry skin, especially in the summer months. You need to apply regularly though.

Fairy10 · 06/06/2025 09:47

We were lucky enough to try the Eucerin Atocontrol Calming Balm and I am so pleased with the results so far! Normally my Daughters skin is dry and always feels and looks irritated but this cream helps with this problem. It hasn't irritated her skin at all and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated. It’s non greasy, absorbs quickly and is thick and easy to apply. I will be trying other products from this range.

NonstopMam · 06/06/2025 09:51

Eucerin Sun Kids Sensitive Protect Gel-Cream SPF50+ was our product and we were very impressed. It was smooth and easy to apply with none of the usual stickiness you get with suncreams. My daughter loved how easy it went on and that she didn't feel tacky afterwards. The smell was not overpowering either. All in all, a big thumbs up.
We would definitely buy and recommend it to others, if it was not an extortionate price.
The only downside was that the packaging was not particularly appealing to kids, but that's a minor detail.

MyShinyThing · 06/06/2025 10:00

We tested the Eucerin Sun Kids Sensitive Protect Gel-Cream SPF50+.
The texture was nice, it wasn't too think and runny like some creams and it went on smoothly and seemed to absorb quickly. It didn't leave any white marks either which was nice. I can't say I particularly noticed any scent which is a good thing with sensitive skin! The packaging was good, not unnecessarily faffy and sturdy enough to chuck in a bag.

As I say it was easy to apply, didn't feel sticky or overly thick. Went on smoothly and didn't leave any residue.

I'm not sure whether it was soothing or not but it didn't cause any flare ups which is the main thing. DS didn't complain that it was itchy or anything so can only assume that it was moisturising.

I would describe it as a good, solid sun cream that works for sensitive skin. DS has been out running around in a sunny park while wearing it and was completely protected from the sun. His skin didn't flair up or dry out at all while using it so definitely a winner for us and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a suncream for sensitive skin.

racheltravel17 · 06/06/2025 11:36

We tried the Sun Kids Sensitive Protect Gel-Cream SPF50+ - before the weather in the UK become rubbish!

We really liked the texture, scent and packaging of the product. We usually prefer a spray bottle so it was great to try a different format. The kids liked that it was sticky and absorbed really quickly, and was so soft and smooth on their skin. They said that there skin didn’t feel tight after using it. Highly recommend for anybody that has dry and sensitive skin as you could really notice the difference

Heg63 · 06/06/2025 11:47

I recieved this product to test .
It comes in an easy to open tube . The contents come out easily with no mess
It has a slight fragrance thst is very subtle.
It glides onto the skin easily and calms the irritation down immediately
Your skin will feel hydrated and calm
You can reapply whenever you like but please do not apply to open wounds or wet wounds .
It lasts for 12 months after opening and has a good shelf life

Ktrxx · 06/06/2025 13:10

We tried the Eucerin balm, it was nice and soft to go on but I found it was nippy on a cut on my hand so I wouldn’t use it again.

Amaksy · 06/06/2025 14:56

Eucerin AtoControl Balm

What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product? The texture was rich and nourishing, hydrating the body on application. It was unscented but pleasant and the tube was easy to hold.

How easy was the product to apply? The balm was easy to apply, squeezing from the tube with a flip out opening.

Did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin? The balm soothed my Childs dry skin reducing itch.

How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it? I would recommend this product as an over the counter alternative to soothe itch and improve skin dryness all year, all day.

Terminatrix · 06/06/2025 15:33

I tested the product: Eucerin Sun Kids Sensitive Protect Gel-Cream SPF50+ on my young son.

It had a nice rich texture which easily absorbed into my skin. It had a very mild scent. The bottle had a flip open cap so it was easy to dispense the gel/cream.

My son has dry sensitive skin and this product was very hydrating and it did not sting. It even calmed down inflamed areas.

I would definitely recommend it to other parents with kids that have dry sensitive skin. Its a good size and will last a while.

thisavrous · 06/06/2025 16:00

Both me and my child tried Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm as we struggle with dry skin. The cream is lightweight and very easy to apply and it absorbs fast into the skin. It leaves it smooth and very hydrated. It has a good and not strong scent and it doesn't feel sticky on the skin. I would recommend it for anyone suffering with dry skin as this product is very gentle and it works. It helps with eczema (which I have been suffering for ages).

Al82 · 06/06/2025 16:21

We trued the Eucerin sun gel cream. My daughterliked the texture, it was smooth and not too greasy. She liked the smell and we both thought the packaging was good and easy to pop in our bag.

The product was very easy to apply, my daughter liked how smooth it was and that it rubbed in very easily.

The product didn't bother her sensitive skin at all.

I would recommend this product to other parents whose children don't like the feel of lotion as it rubbed in really nicely.

Sammyislost · 06/06/2025 17:42
  • What did you and your child think of the texture, scent and packaging of the product?

i like the packaging, it’s simple and classic.it looks like sun cream. it absorbed quickly and doesn’t have much smell to it.

  • How easy was the product to apply?
really easy to apply - it didn’t go everywhere like some do, it absorbed easily too, there was no residue on the skin.
  • Did the product help or soothe your child’s dry or sensitive skin?
it didn’t aggravate my child’s dry / sensitive skin at all!
  • How would you describe the product you tried to a parent who hasn’t used it before? Would you recommend it?
really good for those kids who don’t like sticky suncream. It absorbs much quicker than any I have tried before and we didn’t have any issues with skin sensitivity at all! Would recommend
Rsveinsson · 06/06/2025 19:14

My daughter tried Eucerin AtoControl Balm, she really enjoyed the ease of using the product, the tube it came in was easy to use and wasn't fiddly. The texture wasn't too thick and applied without feeling greasy. The smell was very light.
It didn't cause any aggravation to her skin. It kept her skin well protected and moisturised. Usually she'll have flare ups of eczema during warmer weather behind her knees and with the recent warmer weather she hasn't had this at all.
I would tell any parent whose child has sensitive skin to give it a try, it's easily to use, kind and caring.

Evidemment · 06/06/2025 20:09

We tried the balm
Overall we were impressed by the packaging, lack of scent, and inoffensive texture
It worked very well on my dry hands when used on the back of them deliberately.

We did struggle with using it on my toddler's arms - the main reason we wanted to trial a product - as it did feel quite greasy and took a little while to soak in. We may be biased as we're not in the realm of using eczema products which I believe are classically very greasy? So we came into this blind. But my toddler struggled with having greasy feeling arms and I struggled with having it on the palms of my hands and did feel the need to wash it off my palms as soon as possible.

The product was, however, very easy to apply and I do think that when I was able to convince him to leave his arms alone, it helped soothe his skin somewhat - it definitely helped mine. I wouldn't be able to buy this again as we both found it too challenging from a "grease feel" perspective but again we have the luxury of only having sensitive skin and not a skin condition requiring creams and balms regularly - which I appreciate is a privileged position to be in.

CosyQuail · 06/06/2025 20:29

We recently trialled the Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm on our 6-year old son and we were very impressed with the product.

Great sized tube for popping in our bag when out and about or travelling, good brand and style of packaging.

Easy to apply getting the right amount you need with no wastage, easy to evenly spread on skin as the texture is lightweight and greasy, so it is quickly absorbed into the skin, providing instant soothing relief for sore, dry or irritated skin and instantly hydrates. Our son’s skin flare up soon settled down after the initial one or two applications.

Fragrance free so ideal for our little one’s sensitive and eczema prone skin.
We would recommend this to others and will be buying it for our child going forwards to help with his skin flare ups.

Great over the counter eczema / dry skin soothing balm, for any age.

Emma6363 · 07/06/2025 09:10

We tried the Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm. My daughter is 6.

The texture was great - lovely and thick and you could feel it helping the skin straight away. It's fragrance free which I love and my daughter is happy with. The packaging was good and worked well.

It was very easy to apply and rubbed in nicely.

It really helped soothe my daughters dry skin patches. My husband also used it on his dry, cracked hands, and I used it on a stubborn dry patch on my elbow that nothing seems to help, but this really did!

I would describe it to other parents as a thick and deeply moisturising balm, perfect for very dry patches.

I would definitely recommend it and will buy more when it runs out. Although you don't need a lot, so I imagine it will last a while! I've been looking for a product like this for ages, so I'm really grateful for getting to try it!

Sparklystar · 07/06/2025 11:57
