Designing and purchasing for a new baby’s nursery can be a daunting experience. Do you have questions about how to create the ideal, babyproof nursery? Maybe you’d like to know more about the colours which work best for babies, or which furniture would be best for your space? Perhaps you’d like an idea of what you should be aware of safety-wise?

Leave any questions you have for John Lewis nursery expert Deborah Glen.

Here’s what Deborah Glen, John Lewis nursery expert has to say: ''I have worked at JL for over 6 years but have 22 years’ experience working within the nursery industry, I am now the selling coach for Stratford and enjoy helping customers with their nursery needs. I am also a grandmother to two boys, so use my own knowledge and usage of the products when assisting customers. Lots of customers come back to introduce me to their newborns. It's nice to see the new additions to the JL families!"

Post your questions to Deborah below by 4th July 2016 and we will send over 20 questions for her to respond to. We will then post a link to her responses on the thread ASAP.

Everyone who submits a question (regardless of whether it’s answered or not) will be entered into a prize draw to win an Uppababy Vista pushchair.

Thanks, and good luck!

I have a blind on the window in my nursery - how do I make sure that the cord is safe for my little one?

Tellmeagain · 27/06/2016 21:37

We have a 5.5 month old baby and the nursery has furniture in but we haven't decorated it yet. We're not in any great rush but would like something bright and refreshing that won't date quickly. What can you suggest?

Maiyakat · 27/06/2016 22:17

Why are changing tables all so tall? I struggle and I'm not unusually short!

becciandbump · 27/06/2016 22:23

Angrybird234 · 27/06/2016 23:38

I will be sleeping in baby's nursery rather than baby sleeping in the main bedroom due to husband's shift patterns. How would you recommend configuring the nursery so baby gets her space but at the same time allowing me to sneak quietly into bed at bedtime?

Philoslothy · 28/06/2016 00:42

I would like ideas for book and toy storage that enable a toddler to pick for themselves what they would like to read of play with

Mumof3wonderfulboys · 28/06/2016 10:20

Hi could you advise about bedding especially bumpers are they that safe I have always used them in past but youngest pulled it off found him with bumper over face was pretty scary !! He also used to somehow end up under the blankets so I wonder are blanket safe or a duvet I was that worried he"d suffocate I put him in the sleeper bag but soon get out of it , thank you any advice be appreciated

goldenpineapple · 28/06/2016 10:45

We'd really like a co sleeper cot, but our bed is too high for either the Chicco Next to Me or the Snuzpod - could you recommend an alternative? We live in a furnished rented house so unfortunately can't replace the bed!

babyblabber · 28/06/2016 10:51

Do you have any tips for a classic, gender neutral nursery? A lot of the stuff in shops is pink, blue or all cutest animals. How do you create a beautiful room that is also warm and peaceful for a baby and into the toddler years?

happy13 · 28/06/2016 12:11

Hi Advice for best use of space and decoration as I have small bedroom for my toddler but soon she will need to share with her baby sister when cot moved to her room when the time comes.

sharond101 · 28/06/2016 12:43

How can I get maximum storage space in a small bedroom nursery.

Thistly · 28/06/2016 12:59

Is it ok to use a travel cot as a regular place to sleep at home?
It has an extra mattress.
Thanks

glueandstick · 28/06/2016 17:58

How can you baby proof a babies room? I see lots of beautiful rooms on Pinterest with lovely book cases but low beds that could mean havoc in mornings!

What would you suggest to make a stylish beautiful yet safe room?

LaraG13 · 28/06/2016 18:10

I'd like to know what you see as the basic essentials for mums on a budget who still want to create a nice, comfortable environment. For example, is changing table really necessary, or just a luxury? Is a cot that can become a child's bed a good investment piece?

bumblebee86 · 28/06/2016 20:26

I'm pregnant with my first baby and we have started thinking about the nursery, there are so may things out there you can buy, buy I'd like to what you could consider essential and nice to have and things people end up not using :)

Natsai1 · 28/06/2016 20:51

Where can I get inspiration for unique themes and colours for a baby boy on a tight budget? Don't want the usual trucks, cars trains bears etc

bexh83 · 28/06/2016 21:31

Our room and the nursery are both in the roof space - are there options for low level cot/childrens bed?

LotsofDots · 29/06/2016 10:17

What tips do you have on keeping a nursery the right temperature overnight? Our house tends towards being too warm.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 29/06/2016 10:18

What would you recommend as the most useful nursery accessory to buy as a gift, and why?

I prefer not to buy baby clothes for new babies (as they end up with loads and grow out of them quickly). I love to buy something useful, either a handy gadget or toys my DCs have enjoyed, sharing the great stuff with a new family.

NappingRabbit · 29/06/2016 11:50

What are your top tips for adapting a nursery for one child to one that suits a baby and a toddler when number 2 comes along?

MerlinsBeard87 · 29/06/2016 14:21

Can you recommend furniture and themes for a gender neutral nursery that isn't yellow or green? Is it actually worth decorating the nursery before the baby comes seeing as it won't move in there for around 6 months?

shabbychic1 · 29/06/2016 15:03

I'm thinking about getting a sleepyhead when my baby is born as I've heard great things about it, but I'm worried about sids- the Nhs say you shouldn't put bumpers, nests or soft bedding in the cot. Is the sleepyhead classed as safe please? Thanks.

Barb5 · 29/06/2016 18:58

I'd like to make the nursery easy to keep clean and keep dust to a minimum. I'm also interested in avoiding things which can lead to a toxic home (paints, adhesives used in carpets, etc). I don't know where to start!

WelshGirlSeeksMarmite · 29/06/2016 21:23

What would you say are the 5 'must haves' for a nursery? Not gimmicky or fashionable, but practical, useful and still nice to look at.
