Designing and purchasing for a new baby’s nursery can be a daunting experience. Do you have questions about how to create the ideal, babyproof nursery? Maybe you’d like to know more about the colours which work best for babies, or which furniture would be best for your space? Perhaps you’d like an idea of what you should be aware of safety-wise?

Leave any questions you have for John Lewis nursery expert Deborah Glen.

Here’s what Deborah Glen, John Lewis nursery expert has to say: ''I have worked at JL for over 6 years but have 22 years’ experience working within the nursery industry, I am now the selling coach for Stratford and enjoy helping customers with their nursery needs. I am also a grandmother to two boys, so use my own knowledge and usage of the products when assisting customers. Lots of customers come back to introduce me to their newborns. It's nice to see the new additions to the JL families!"

Post your questions to Deborah below by 4th July 2016 and we will send over 20 questions for her to respond to. We will then post a link to her responses on the thread ASAP.

Everyone who submits a question (regardless of whether it’s answered or not) will be entered into a prize draw to win an Uppababy Vista pushchair.

Thanks, and good luck!

What's the best kind of pillow for a toddler to use? Especially considering mine is quite allergy prone.

I would also like advice on how to make a duel nursery for a toddler and a new baby as I'm currently pregnant and dd will be just over 2 when this baby arrives. New baby will be with us for 6 months but then would need to go in with big sister until we get a bigger place!

Other than a cot what one thing would you not do without in a nursery and why?

We don't want to spend a fortune on furniture and accessories that aren't needed - just the essentials X

We were hoping for some advice about baby number 2 and nursery/ decorating.... Baby number 1 is in the smallest room (nursery). Should we decorate the larger room (room 2) as a nursery for baby 2, as a toddler room for baby 1 or have both sleeping in the same room 2, and redecorate the nursery into a playroom?

I'm struggling with storage - so are there any useful ideas for all the parephenalia that you end up with (nappy cream, wipes etc). It all looks an untidy mess at the moment and I am struggling to find a neat solution. Any suggestions would be very welcome! Thank you

What sort of light fittings do you recommend? Is a dimmer s good idea?

CordeliaScott · 26/06/2016 22:04

Like others I'm confused about cot bumpers. I've heard that they are dangerous but they seem to be sold everywhere. Are they actually dangerous or is it being overly cautious?

At what age can dd have a pillow and a duvet?

We'll be moving dd into her nursery soon so thinking about saftey in there - are plug socket covers necessary?

Elliepurpleflower · 27/06/2016 10:58

What furniture is most popular to store clothes and baby things? Are draws, wardrobes or wardrobes with storage inside more popular?

Fizzyboo · 27/06/2016 11:21

Are there any tips on how to share a room with baby? I'm worried about things like alarm clocks going off early waking the baby and my DH getting ready for work at 5am

torthecatlady · 27/06/2016 14:41

Do you have any clever ideas for storage in the nursery? We don't have a lot of room and storage really will be key to creating a tranquil, clutter-free bedroom for the little one.

LovelyBranches · 27/06/2016 14:52

My toddler DS has slept in our bed but is now in his own room and own cot bed. Unfortunately with it being such a small room the only place the cot bed would work is right next to a double plug point and I'm constantly worried that DS is going to stick his fingers in the plug point and electrocute himself. I have been told that the traditional socket covers are actually unsafe and I was wondering if there was any alternative? Thank you

Do you recommend putting a second child into an existing nursery (with a two year old) or create a second nursery for the new arrival? What are the top tips for young children sharing bedrooms? Thanks :)

Quodlibet · 27/06/2016 16:47

We are currently planning a nursery which will be for DD1 (currently 2.5) but also our second baby (due soon) who will move in with her when he is ready to leave our room.

Are there any safety pointers for toddler and baby sharing a room? Any tips for making the room work for young children with an age gap?

DesignedForLife · 27/06/2016 17:46

What's the best way to store everything in a small room? Clothes, toys, next size up clothes. The room we've got can fit a small single bed and nothing else!

Beachbaby1 · 27/06/2016 17:59

We need to move on from nursery to toddler room. Any ideas for decoration?

rainbowgrimm · 27/06/2016 19:54

How would you update an existing nursery for a new arrival so it looks fresh & feels special (without spending a fortune)?
Also, I'm considering a floor bed with a single sized mattress so I can join her in the night, any tips for this & baby proofing the room?

dippypanda · 27/06/2016 20:30

Baby will be sharing our room for the first year or so before sharing with their older sister (5) as we have an old Victorian 2 bedroom house and not able to move. How do I create a space for baby and for us without feeling too cluttered in the one room?

BristolLFR · 27/06/2016 20:40

Where can I get nice, modern geoprint wallpaper for a gender neutral nursery? Thinking mint/ gold/ grey/ white as a colour scheme

Thanks

pestov · 27/06/2016 20:44

Where do people change older babies? Most of the changing tables I've looked at are suitable up to a year or so, clearly potty training is a long time after that!
