Dr. Pixie McKenna is here to answer any questions you may have on children's health, specifically cold and flu, fever, teething and earache. As a mum of one to daughter Darcey, Pixie is more than a medical expert – she's a parent who's had first-hand experience looking after her own child and is here to share her top tips and advice.

Here’s a little bit more about Dr. Pixie:

Dr. Pixie has strong family background of medicine (she is the third generation of doctors in her family!) and has a lifetime of knowledge with over 13 years medical experience since qualifying. She's currently a practising GP at London’s Harley Street.

Post your questions to Dr. Pixie by the 1 February 2016 and we will pick 20 for her to respond to. Everyone who posts a question will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £150 Love2Shop voucher. A link to her responses will be posted by 29th February 2016.

Please note, Dr. Pixie is here to give advice but cannot mention, discuss or endorse any brands or products.

This Q&A is sponsored by Nurofen for Children.

Thanks,

MNHQ.

Whenever my 3 yr old gets a cold or is run down in any way, he gets a single red swollen spot on his left earlobe. It's happened ever since he was tiny. It crusts over and goes away on its own. Any idea what it could be?

A question Dr Pixie.. Could you please explain why that a child with tonsillitis every two weeks that stops them from even breathing during sleep is not allowed their tonsils removed on the NHS until it is passed through a non medical board and only then it is their decision if the operations has the go ahead on the NHS ? Many Thanks

Hi Dr Pixie, my youngest son turned 6 last week and clears his throat quite regularly, particularly on an evening. He's been doing itfor months and I thought it could be a tic so tried to ignore it, but I'm worried there could be a medical reason for it? He says nothing hurts and it doesn't seem to get better after a drink either.

My teenage DS has severs disease in his feet after very rapid growth and in a bit of pain and limping, he has been seen by a specialist and given inserts. Will this issue right itself as his bones grow, and will it cause any problems in life.

Hello,

We are in the middle of a local outbreak of Scarlet Fever. Why are children not immunised against this, along with other childhood illnesses. My children are teens and have not had it yet but it is likely to happen soon. Or is it an illness of young children? Thanks

Hi Dr Pixie

What's the best way to help my 12 year old daughter with her anxiety & worries? She tends to be more anxious in the evenings. We are trying camomile tea and reading books! But sometimes it gets too much for her!

My DD (age 3) has had quite a few episodes of painful earache. I normally just give her Kids Nurofen. However the last episode in November was particularly bad. I ended up getting antibiotics from the GP which my DD then refused to take more than 2 doses of! Can you suggest an alternative/natural remedy treatment or care routine I could follow, and also advise if there are any preventative measures I could take in future? Thanks Smile
